DVI or DVI to HDMI?

DeathreatDeathreat Member UncommonPosts: 143

So I am waiting on getting my new LCD screen :

And I was wondering if It would be worth buying an DVI to HDMI cable or just use the normal DVI cable that the screen comes with?

BTW I am running 2 8600gt in SLI on this rig.

Nah there's no benefit to using the HDMI connection over a DVI connection, and both actually carry the same TDMS signal so use whichever cable is most convenient.

If you need to hook up to an HDTV without a DVI port would be the only reason to use the DVI to HDMI cable/adapter.

Most video cards that have built-in HDMI output carry an audio signal over the HDMI cable to simplify your speaker setup too.
