Questions about Aion

KebeckKebeck Member Posts: 323

Thinking of grabbing this one when it's released in NA, but a couple of things are still bugging me.. And I'd like people who have actually played the game to answer..

1- Is there a lot of different looking armors or does everyone looks the same past the character creation (which I heard is pretty neat) ?

2- Are the combat overly repeatitive ? Will I have to press 1,2,3 over and over again ?

3- Is there any rewards to grouping ? Like things you can not complete by yourself and in which quantity..

4- I've seen the recommended gear to play this game, is this really accurate ? .. Cause it feels a bit weak for the amount of comments I'm reading about how beautiful the world is...

5- Which version of the game will we have in NA ? I know the game is already out in some places, will we have recent version or something older ?

Thanks for answering !

I have just pre ordered my copy so I will be in the closed beta starting today, but as of yet, no I have not actually played the game but I have been following it for about a year now, and I hop I can at least somewhat answer your questions, and hopefully someone can either confirm or correct me.

1.From pics that I have seen, and from the many videos I have watched it looks like there are many different types of armors, also you can buy dye for your armor so you can customize the colors as you like, so i would imagine it would be rare to see someone with the exact same set of armor all dyed the same color as well.

Now I dont know if this part is the same for armor but I know you can change the skin of your weapons, so if you really love the look of your lvl 10 sword, and your pick up a lvl 15 sword with better stats but looks much much worse, you can actually have the skin from the lvl 10 transferred to the lvl 15, which will destroy the lvl 10 sword but now your lvl 15 has the same skin but the the better stats, as i said im not sure if this applies with armor as well (maybe someone can clarify)

    2. The game is based around combos, so if you hit 1, that means the combo "tree" starts, you have several options on what you want your next ability to be, so it might take 1 to start the combo, then 3 then 2 to do a nice flashy dps skill, next time you could hit 1 to start the same combo, hit 4 next to branch off to something more defensive like a shield then use your final move to knock the enemy back, no dps, but an opportunity to open up another combo. (again i havnt had a chance to do it myself but this seems like the way it woks, ill let you know tommorow, someone may be able to further explain this.)

    3. There are many eleite quests or mobs that you will defiantly need groups for, also this game is based around pvp and trying to acquire as many AP as possible (abyss points) which you gain from pvp, or participiating in abyss zone quests, or killing npc's in the abyss. The abyss is wide open full pvp, so yes you will defiantly want a full group of six or even a raid (or what ever its called in Aion, cant remember) to have your back.

    4. As I said i never actually played the game, apparently the cryogen engine is very well tweaked and polished, people are playing this game on close to max settings with machines ~4 years old, (all i know as of yet is the log in screen looks great to me as thats as far as ive gone :P)

    5. I believe 1.1 is on live servers in china, it might be 1.2, someone will have to confirm this, how ever its official that we will be getting 1.5 at release which adds more quests, instances, and more incentive to holding keeps.

Hope this helps somewhat, as i said it might be a good idea to have someone confirm this information.

    1. The armors change depending on which class you, Mage-cloth, warrior-chain (until they become templar or glad than its plate) Rogue-leather, priest- cloth (until you become a chanter or a cleric than its chain)

2.Combat imo isn't i played a sorcerer last beta and you wouldnt cast a imobile spell unles they were close so youd cast an ice spell, than its chain than fire spell, than its chain and chains dont need to be on the spell bar they take the place of the fire/ice spell icon , i guess in early lvls it will be like that but later it does get better.

3.I'm not sure about that within the first 13 lvls i dont remember any grouping .

    4. No its not cleric and chanter are both good with mace/shield and chain armor

    5. When the game is released it will be version 1.5 the latest one out i think. Ncsoft anounced it a few weeks ago.

Their is a dye system in place.

Plus if you have a piece of armor you like the looks of but you get something else with better stats you can pay to transfer the look of that other piece of armor to the one with better stats. (sadly you can't do that until level 30)

    Low levels yea.
3- Is there any rewards to grouping ? Like things you can not complete by yourself and in which quantity..

Mobs are pretty deadly in Aion you get more than 2 on you it best to run..

so just the safety in number thing is there.

Also there are Elite mobs and Quests that take a group to do.
4- I've seen the recommended gear to play this game, is this really accurate ? .. Cause it feels a bit weak for the amount of comments I'm reading about how beautiful the world is...

Talking about System spec right? The game scales well on lower systems.

We won't being start at version 1.0... I'm not for sure if we are getting version 1.5 (the latest patch) or not...
    Thanks for answering !

Just a clarification on question # 4.. When I speak of gear, I mean computer, not armor... So I should have written "system requirement".. Wrong choice of words, sorry. But thanks for the answer anyway :)

It scales well it is not processor dependent (EQ2) but will not play on anything like WOW. Way mor eye candy in some zones  (deserts show heat waves), heard itt only has some problems with windows 7 but that is to be expected

Gear? You mean PC? If so .. lol the graphics engine is OLD.. I wouldnt worry about it.

Version 1.5 is what you will be playing.. At least thats what they SAY.

i rolled a priest today and cant recall at what level, could have even been level 1 but i know he was in leather by level 5 at the highest. I was  surprised but an early quest offered boots as a reward and i could choose cloth or leather.  But your correct at level 10 a cleric gets chain.
