Class confusion

nomrawnomraw Member Posts: 146

Been reading about the class skills in Aion POWER wiki.....

Earlier I thought of rolling it with Assassin...but since most of my friends are also making it ....so I didn't want to try that out.

Then I thought of Sorcerer......somehow I just couldn't find enough survival skills....in comparison to other classes...nice DPS skills but besides that blink back thing which helps you escape...I just couldn't help but feel that I'd have to work my ass off to play this in PvP...

Next I checked on Ranger....many players were cribbing about it while I played a little in the Chinese servers....but the skills looks kick ass....I mean...Silence??....additional 33% mov spd when player attacks  you....slowing skills plus traps and knockdowns...woooo...I almost considered this when I realised that traps + arrows = zero money with you all the time...LOL

thought of spiritmaster or cleric (will most likely be another commonly chosen char)...but they didn't appeal to me enough....I have no clue about all the skills of spiritmaster...or what their elemental pets are capable of..

Gladiator's look good....but are they capable or hitting through a highly evasive sin?? or are they quick enough to get to any DPS dealing class.....plus I dont see them having more than a few defense skills..

Templar looks good to me although they aren't boasted as much as Sins/ Clerics/ Glads/ Sorcerers in PvP...excellent defensive buffs/ skills...some neat buffs which enhance the attack plus nice stun skills...etc.etc....will most likely consider making ths class Unless convinced otherwise...

Chanter was the first char I rolled...liked it but was always confused...whether to attack mob/player with normal shots or use skills....plus the other reason which confuses me....is that..they have some pretty skills which increase aspd and all but they also have skills which give AOE buffs....so are they a team player/ soloer????

All classes have nice skills.....just finding it hard to roll one....and the main problem is I LIKE MOST OF THE CLASSES :(

So wanted some input from you guys about these classes....videos if you have some.....how good are glads??? Templars???Chanters??? ..etc.ettc

Well none of us can help you.  What you can do is make a list of pros and cons.  That usually helps.

Take into consideration how many people you will play with and how much you will solo.  Think about how needed you want to be in a group and how important that is to you.  Just try to think about what your average gaming session might be like and what would be the most fun in that scenario.

LOL......the problem is that this game has certain classes which can fill in all those roles....so how am I supposed to decide? :(......

Fortunately it doesn't appear that Aion has any "I win" classes at this time though of course some are stronger than others. The PvP in Aion isn't really one on one oriented and is much more team oriented though of course you can try to PvP solo but you are likely to get your butt handed to you when you come across a group of opposing players.

And, this pretty much goes for all the classes in that they are strong in one area and weak in another so it is a bit like rock, paper or scissors for your choice. If your friends are picking one class then pick a class that would work well with them would be one suggestion.

The Chanter is definitely a support class with their buffing but this makes them quite desireable and healing is always good. It does increase your survivability somewhat being able to heal yourself but the trade off is your dps is in the middle ranges.

The warriors do what tanks do and do it well but their DPS is at the lower end but their survivability is good. Rangers are rangers and they always die but before they do they tend to take a few people with them. Sorcs are the typical high output low input type but are hard to beat for ranged DPS and assasins are great DPS up close but also are a bit fragile.

Just pick one and have fun.

    I thought I was indecisive.

CAUTION: Using your brain is NOT endorsed by governments, religious, educational institutions, secret societies and corporations involved with serious power and financial profit obtained from a brainwashed and enslaved population. Mild discomfort may occur as confusing independent thought challenges your current view of the world. Use your brain, think for yourself and question authority. People are so used to one class dominating.

This game has a balance and it seems that no one class is going to dominate EVERYTHING.

I will say however that an Assassin or a Ranger will probably rise over most just because they are PURE dps but that wont mean they can't be beat.

I was in the same boat, I liked all of them.  You could test them all, that's what I ended up doing, I know the start zones and quests of both sides like the back of my hand now, lol.  I generally play healers, so my first choice was Cleric.  I'm still going to play it after trying all of them.  Pick the ones that appeal to you the most and give them a try, really all you can do :)

I will most likely max out 4 or 5 chars over a period of time...but for now...I've narrowed it down to Templar or Cleric.....and my next would be the DPS classes (Ranger, Assassins, Sorcerer)....so templar or chanter/cleric which would you guys recommend? :)

I'm currently stuck between gladiator and sorcerer, I'm not sure which one to roll, but hopefully in the future I'll know which one.

Chanter since your friends are Sins. I duo'd with a cleric last night (as a spiritmaster) and he was dpsing more than healing. While I'm ok that... given the parameters you set... a chanter would be a more viable option.
