Actually no, every class does fine in PvP in Aion.  There are no best class, except depend on what you focus on.

Ranger is high burst damge and are ranged with traps to suppliment it's fighting style.  It can do alot of damage, but if you don't kill people in the first 5 seconds (which is when you release your powerful burst type damges) your DPS drop and becomes twitchy.   Ranger's advantage is it can do alot of damage in the initial few seconds, if it kills them then easy win, but if not it becomes anyone's game.  Most experienced Korean players already know you need enough HP manastones to survive the initial burst from the ranger, pop the potion and go after the ranger, and it is anyone's fight after that.

Ranger's main strategy is high initial damage, kiting at range, and trap others to gain upper hand.   it is flexible class, but as I have said, there are no best class.  If you like high initial massive damage then you would probably like ranger, but if you are not good at keeping distance, then you might find it annoying.

In terms of mages. patch 1.5 lower the damage dealt in PvP which solve part of the weak point of the robe class, but robe class are still a bit easy to kill of course, since they are a pain in the butt unless they die fast.  A mage played correctly is very annoying, but generally ranger is good vs mages, since the initial burst is more effective on robed class plus ranger is also ranged, but same rule applies if you can't kill them by the first burst in 1.5, then fight is even ground.

Summing it up, Ranger is a high spike damage, flexible class of DPS with range being it's greatest asset.

Edit:  Of course the above is assuming similar level and potions are used.  Which people focus on PvP will always have those.

Sorry for being mean... but after the endless nerf cycles I have watched by now, I am all sarcastic now and quickly developing into apathy. There are always people who feel their class is too weak and cry for nerfs. Yes the OP didnt say so, but it soon will start. And at some point the devs feel uneasy and listen and a long, evil spiral downwards starts again until all classes are mediocre cookie cutter bore-stuff because god forbid OP classes.
Champions was DROWNED in this spiral of nerf-downsizing and crushed from a jolly good game to unplayable in a mere 2 weeks.
Nerf and OP cry is quite rampant in PVP, apparently. When will you folks learn that PVP IS A FUCKING TEAMSPORT! There is no "I" in PVP. =P If you mage has a prob with HP the tank is not doing his job right. End of story. In PVP classes are not supposed to be all-powerful against all possible classes in all possible situations.

How exactly does nerfing ruin a game???  I guess if you had an OP class and then became nerfed, and now your whining about not being OP?  Weird post!!

If I said it once I'd said it a million times "It's my 15 bucks, I'll Play solo if I want to"

I am not even in the game, so my motivations are not of any egoistical nature. I just have seen the nerf drain out fun out of a MMO too often. Once a company starts down the path of so called "balancing", it is usually an endless spiral downwards. If you start looking from the perspective of "perfect balance" there is always some percentage too much dmg, some seconds too long lasting effect, some too short timer and you nerf and nerf until all the action and coolness has been sacrificed to bean counters. It just never ends one you begin this road, and its a dangerous road. Often you look at single powers and find "oh they look OP", but people don't look at the big picture. They just see Power X is strong and must be nerfed and the end of the road is another mediocre WOW clone where all fun and cool powers are downgraded to dullness-fests.

When you say mage do you mean sorcerer or spiritmaster? both are very different.

Im sick of always picking the class that end up sicking end game...

I really want to play a mage but i wont.. a lot of people say that the ranger or assassin kills a mage in 2-3 hits end game..
Why does the mages always have the lowest hp

Here we go,  the game isn't even been release and there's a post whineing about how he's mage will get owned by rangers, lol oh man i realy feel for some of you.

Why don't you just play a class that you enjoy playing, wheather its pvp folder 1v1 who cares.

Every mmo iv'e played you always get flavour of the month or month's it's just the way itis.

In MMO's  you need about 5 diffrent classes if you wanted to play the best solo class for pvp.

Example,  " Assassins kill me in two hits, there so OP i'm quitting "   these sorts of posts get spammed a few thousand time's, patch comes out sin gets neferd.

" my sin is so crap i cant kill anythink, i'm quitting "  spammed a few thosands times, patch comes sin goes back tobeing op, life in the mmo land carries on as normal.

Anyway ill be playing with my girlfriend and son, so unless theres a class which can kill 3v1 ( very much doubt it ) then ill be choosing a class i love playing.

There's allways a way of overcome as a winner. And Practice Makes Perfect, never forget that, see you in beta =)

Main reason why Assassin was popular as top PvPers in Korea version is because the way they play is all about ganking people they are certain they can win against.  Assassin's stealth and DPS help them choose who to fight and who to avoid, but truthfully any class can do it it just by excercise caution.  In larger group PvP, Assassin usually becomes harder to play since they have very short window to deal melee damage and try to restealth before enemies start notice them and focus their firepower on it.

Basically an Assassin is usually good when fighting in smaller numbers, but in big groups, it gets harder and harder if they can't find some isolated targets.  Assassin in large group PvP is good at tagging (carve seal) their targets and at the right time let off a burst to disable or damage their target.  Since most skills from 'sins are melee, it becomes harder the more enemies are present.

So, yes you are correct, class will likely not determine how good you are at PvP, proper playing will.

Lol; there isnt a class that is OP compared to others, how it goes is each class has its time to shine before level 50 then they all are just the same.

Clerics are the shiners in the lower levels compared to most.

But as they grow levels they can just live, and not kill aha.

So every class is OP at some point and time.

PS - All mammals have nipples.

    Get over it already.
