Like the title says, I would be very grateful if some one would point me in the direction of a guide to how character creation works now, because this is quite different than it used to be. You only start with 50k sp?

50k starting SP, double training speed until 1.6M SP.

Blood lines have no effect on attributes, you can distribute them manualy after you create a character in Character sheet.

It looks like I am able to set my skills to train in a queue, does this actaully start the skill training for me, or do I still need to manually change it?

You can set the skill queue for 24 hours period - meaning that the last placed skill in the queue must be within 24 hours in order to start automaticaly.
