I think they're still working out names and tiers for Klingon ships. Plus there was much more for them to work with from the shows and movies in terms of Fed ships.

Good point, most of the shows and books have been from the perspective of the Federation.

Will be interesting to see what they come up with for the ships in the game. Not sure yet which faction I'll want to be playing as part of but the looks of the Klingon ships (when they get to releasing that info) may decide that for me.

  • remmonremmon Member Posts: 1

Ofcourse it's very hard to come up with starships for any other faction than the Federation. I mean, it's not like there's half a dozen games that featured several other factions and plenty of starships for them

The problem more likely is that they haven't decided which of those ships to put in.

Posting so I can get some hype points or whatever =P

Yeah, those ships of the line. I don't agree with how I have to dump my favorite ship so that I can progress in the game by getting a higher tier. I want to stay Nova-class!!

I can't wait for me to hit Admiral... Luna class all the way!!

They've already said that you will be able to keep your older ships... You can own multiple ships at once.  And they are trying to design the ship progression, so that lower tier ships are still useful later on in the game. Instead of the higher ships becoming more and more powerful, they simply become more versatile.

Yeah, I'm one who likes the list, but it's hardly set in stone. I like how Rekhan just popped into the IRC chat and linked the page, without saying anything else. It was great. I'm looking forward to seeing actual SotL for some of those names. Also, I'll probably be playing Federation mostly, but I'm ready to see some Klingon Faction ships now. Hopefully, we'll know soon(tm).

I definitely like the list as well. Lots of neat hints. Like the naval titles for the groups, like Fleet Escorts, and Battle Cruisers. Very cool.

Couldn't be more happy with the news.

I'm guessing we can make the following assumption:

    Science - Science

    Escort - Tactical

    Cruiser - Engineering ?

If so, i'm looking forward to playing Engineering XD

I was thinking, why is the Prommie under Deep Space Science, isn't it refered to in "Message in a Bottle" as the only Deep Space Tactical ship of the Federation??

very nice list. My only hope is that the Nebula class, Ambassador and Excelsior somehow make it to the game

Really?  Well that takes a load off of my mind.   I was worrying on how they would handle this situation.   So if the higher tier just become more versitle than could it also mean that the lower tier become more powerful through upgrades (within reason of course)?   Its just that their flexibility is limited a bit.   Or am I just reading into this too much?

It isn't. It's under Fleet Escort.

The Excelsior is so similar to the profile of the Constitution/Excalibur that it *should* fit right in with them...just like the general profile of the Constellation is used to get the Cheyenne and that really sexy 4-nacelle ship in the preview vids and the PC Gamer article.

I think the Ambassador might fit in with the Excelsior too, but that's just a guess.

But I am troubled by the Nebula - I can't figure out where to fit it.  It is a squished Galaxy w/ a roll-bar.  Not really sure which profile would fit it better...

I can't wait for them to release more information for each of the ships. Also, where are the Klingon ships!

Let my love open the door.

Seems that Cruiser will be Engineering, but maybe when it comes to space combat, any career choice can make any ship work.  Even so, I'm still gonna be rushing to get promoted to Lt. Commander so I can get a Constitution class!  I love the 1701-A so I'm gonna try to re-make it in game.

I was waiting for this one but.. man after seeing what Cryptic did to Champions online. Then calling them up to hear them say their just a small company. Champions looked great before launch.. now look at it. So.. not going to touch it till after launch.

nice info. looking forward to this game more and more.

I really like the list of ships they've released so far...  but I'm really hoping they start releasing more Klingon ships.  I will be concentrating on the Federation side of the game once it's released, but seeing the 'weight' of the game directed so much away from the Klingons, I feel really bad about the Klingon fans.  It just seems so... unfair... lol

I do expect more ships to be added to the Fed side the closer we get to launch, but I hope that they really start churning out the Klingon ships now.

    Peace

I was thinking along these lines a few days after the launch of Champions after reading so many complaints about the game (which I haven't played and don't plan on until after TOR and STO) but NCsoft has had both hit's and misses if I beleive all the negative press about Champions so I'm still going to give STO a go.

but yeah, to call this game Fantastic is like calling Twilight the Godfather of vampire movies....

it dosent matter which path u choose u can fly all the ships if u put skill points in it. carrier choice is more for ground combat and kits then it is for ships
