Let me first state that I loved this game and beta, and enjoy every aspect of what it could be. But having a 35 cleric, realizing that it wasn't for me and now a 31 ranger.
The amount of bots have become so ridiculous that it is becoming very difficult for legit players to even level up or complete quests. The game world in AION already suffers from being a bit small in comparison to most games, factor that in with the overabundance of bots that take up more than their fair share of the virtual real-estate, and you have a recipe for disaster.
I've been playing MMO's back since UO and have never seen a game with such a high bot:player ratio as AION. It's quite obvious to almost every legit player that the issue has skyrocketed out of hand, and is beyond past the point where it should have been adressed. I play on the Siel/Asmodian server and on my 31 ranger am having severe difficulty even finding mobs to grind because EVERY spot is being camped 24/7 by bots.
I find this very disappointing because I enjoy the game very much, and don't even mind that it's a tad grindy. However, I probably woln't be resubbing because the bots have become so overpopulated that the game borders on being unplayable.

Well they killed the gold spam and im assuming bots will be the main target next. Give them some time, remember rome wasnt built in a day.
Although i did notice less bots after the patch yesterday, so maybe they have already started the banning.
Aion v3 "RELOADED" - A glimpse into the future of the MMO genre
I haven't noticed less for sure, I burned my 10 autohunts in about 30 seconds in beluslan. They are still consta-crushing all the spawns in almost every level bracket except at 40+.
LOL I just don't understand why people payed 50 bucks to let a program play the game for them. I thought the purpose of buying a game is to play it yourself. People never cease to amaze me.
The bots belong to gold farmers, not legit players.
I have to say one thing though. That after the spam filter was added, I've noticed a lot more bots.
So a bot is actually preventing you from playing the game? How is it that you are outsmarted by a script of commands so easily. There are creative ways to kill the bots, when I find a bot I will find a way to kill it.
It's because of the way kill rights work in this game and because usually there are a number of these bots in one area and by the time you get there all of the mobs needed for the quests are killed by the bots.

Not to mention, they begin hitting it when it spawns b4 it is even visible. And killing them does little when their bot just auto-paths back to the same spot.

While most of them are I read this other thread about this guy got to level 30 and the grind was to much for him. He said his choices were he quit or he uses a bot. He quit while his friends used the bots. I cant seem to find the thread right now but thats why I said what I did in my first post. Legit players are actually botting as well.

It's quite possible. Legit players have used bots in MMOs since UO. However, that's not a rule but an exception. Most are gold farmers will names like "eqwWE" and "rreesWDw."

At this point, the legit bots are the lesser part of the problem, its the tons and tons of bots with names like "Dddappdd" and "Xsdfffpm" that are the major contributors. If only some were removed, I would probably be able to grind again, but fighting for spawns everywhere is getting old. Not to mention on the server I play on, the #1 Elyos guild "Benny Lava" is also riddled with xploiters. There was even a video posted on youtube made by their legion leader Naruto showing how to exploit the elites.
I have seen few bots, but none of them have affected my gameplay. Never had an issue that I could not complete something due to bots.
When I see posts such as this, not solely in relation to Aion, it seems it is more about the person behind the keyboard than it is about bots. If they annoy you that much, just report them. You get benefits from it anyway.
"The person who experiences greatness must have a feeling for the myth he is in."
The best mobs are always aggro in this game, bots should never prevent you from getting the best spots cause they're not there.
The bots arent your problem. The game design is. PvE game play where the avatars of other players can interfere with and hamper your grinding.
What exactly is the difference between bots or players farming the monsters? If every avatar you saw in the game was controlled by a legit player doing the farming instead would you still be having the same problem? Yes you would......and you would still be posting the same camplaint, except the title of the thread would read as "Other players ruining gameplay".
Having bots in the game farming areas really shouldnt matter at all because if those were real players (such as yourself) they would be doing exactly the same things anyway. Basicly you are complaining because an automated computer program is getting in the way of you doing the job that it wants to do. Thats actually quite funny.
This, so far I only saw 1 bot that was affecting my gameplay. He was auto running back to the same place again and again running for my mobs but after 15 minutes of competing with him I found another spot with the same mobs.
And that is the only one I saw, really. I think it's different from server to server. Lumiel is kinda safe from the bots so far.
The majority of gold farming avatars wouldn't be in the game if not for a single famers ability to run multiple bots. IGE can't afford to pay one real human pretending to be chinese for every farming bot needed. It takes dozens of farming avatars to support a single transaction. No doubt it's RMT that's the problem, with bots just being a tool of the trade. I don't think bots were really the point of the thread, but it's actually quite funny that someone would defend them.

There is no excuse for allowing bots in a game I get that! But there is no excuse for you not to be smarter then a 30 line script.

It's not about being smarter. It's about the fact that the the mobs are all dead when I get there. No matter how smart I am, I cannot do anything about that.
Yes, I can figure out a way to get the bots killed or I can eventually finish the quest if I'm quick enough or if I manage to get some of the bots stuck in the world geometry. But that is wasted time better spent doing something more productive.
Reread my original post, absorb it. Bots are a problem because they never stop. How many hours does a real player put in per day? Similar concept was how Eve banned 3% of their playerbase for botting, and the difference was night and day.
Edit. Also on a side note, seems to be particularly a problem with Asmodian/Siel Side, even the elyos on our server rifting are awed by the sheer # of bots we have.

Wasted time is subjective to everyone, I mean its a game without life consequences.
Well at least since you don't play anymore you don't really have to worry about the bots. I havent seen any bots yet in this game, but I always look at them as a challenge in the game.
I swear, fans will find any excuse for any short comings their game has.
Look, the bots are disruptive to legit players. The types of consequences, if any, it has on real life makes absolutely no difference. People are playing a monthly fee and are being denied a portion of the service because of the bots. Besides that, the fact is that bots will eventually destroy the in-game economy.
If you're OK with it, or if you haven't seen any bots yet, doesn't mean that it's OK for these people to continue.
Errr you do realize that bots dont require a living breathing person on the other end ... Thats the point of a BOT it runs 24/7 farming , real players cant do this ... your line of thinking is actually quite funny..
Wow, pretty soon the gold farmers have to sell gold to each others.
And sorry to say folks but are any of you really surprised that an NCsoft title is infested with bots and farmers , Did you research this companies track record at all, hate to say it, But you were warned.

I have seen many bots in Aion, and I do agree that they are quite irritating and they are not being removed promptly. For instance, on my server, they continually camp the Daru outside Morheim, so that it is nigh impossible to complete the quest there that requires them.
They are easy to spot. They tend to travel in pairs, with meaningless, consonant filled names, farming one type of mob in a small area. They will steal any kill that they reach before HP is less than half down.
I have, however, seen a massive decrease in the infinite chat spam of previous weeks though, so that boosts my confidence that the issue is being (albeit much too slowly) worked on.
A GM actually logged in and spoke to us briefly on Siel the other day about the problem. I had not seen one since day one, so perhaps they have hired some more. This was right before the spam crack-down.
Finally, I would add that I would prefer to see bots than have GameGuard reinstalled, which is, sadly, what is probably going to happen if people continue to bitterly complain.

I hope not! Gameguard is absolutely useless and the versions of Aion that use GG (Chinese and Korean) have an even bigger bot problem than we do.
