Everyone who complains should try a f2p asian grinder for a month if you can last that long. Gives you new apreciation for the genre.

This isn't a signature, you just think it is.

Fail at logic is fail? Just because a "f2p asain grinder" exists or sucks or whatever, doesn't take away from the fact that Alganon is pretty bad.

Funnily enough, if I'd seen Alganon a year ago, before I'd ever tried any f2p Asian grinder, I would have had a much more generous opinion of it.

It was the knowledge that there are other games which (despite not being very good) are still far better than Alganon, and also free to play, that killed it stone dead for me.

The worst is comparing beta for Alganon vs Allods. Allods has it's issues, and one of those is that it will be a grinder with a cash shop, but... it is so far ahead of where Alganon is. It has PvP, completed trees, 6 Races vs. 2 Races, 28 classes vs 4 classes, talents trees, ship to ship combat, a unique world, lag free environment, much sharper and visually distinct graphics.

If it went totally subscription based with no cash shop and lowered the grind by 50% (I figure they will probably offer 50% experience potions) I would be all over Allods like a fly on cow manure.

Yes, Allods is a WoW clone to a degree very similar UI, quests, talents and so on... but... it took WoW and added a unique space fantasy setting to it. So, it feels familiar but not the same. Alganon takes the 2 continent 2 faction model of WoW and adds no twists to it. They might as well call the world Asheroth again. Allods shows every single flaw in Alganon by producing a game based on the same system that is in every single way better.

Yes, I've only played one session of the Allods beta so far and don't feel I can offer a qualified opinion on it, but it certainly seems quite high quality and looks like it will have a lot of appeal for anyone who doesn't mind derivative game mechanics but would like a fresh and different setting.

Allods had a pretty damn big budget, probably the highest ever spent on a f2p game. I've heard quite alot of good things about the game, just from hearing the things i can easily say that games gonna be a hit. This at the same time worries me for alganon too, now even if alganon goes free it's canned by runes of magic and allods both which have a way better overall product. Although i bash this game i have to say i kinda feel sad for the devs too, no not in a sarcastic way either...i mean ye even though the game has its flaws, its something people have been working on for years and care about, would just hate if the game goes down.

Bad interview is bad, and Jason Van Horn might as well be sucking on the teets of David Allen. He doesn't bother to call them out once on their terrible gameplay or the fact that they lifted the UI straight from WoW. I guess that's cool though.

Well they most likely send in a pre questionnaire that gets approved. They tell them they want to ask about poor game play and copies, you know they are getting turned down.

Their dilemma on the class design ,shoudlk have been an easy copy from FFXI,just allow one player to play all class, and allow them to switch just as FFXI does, you can't wrong ,it is imo the best setup i have ever seen/played.

Personally the game sounds to have a very good goal and wants to achieve alot, but it also sounds like a game not nearly ready for launch.PVP of course is somethign that does not matter period,so that is not a concern, especially since most people are learning the game in early stages,PVP should be o nthe backburner and usually is until later at max level.

This is one game i wouldn't mind seeing how it evolves after another 2 years, but it may be a problem for them to survive that long.I think the ONLY reason a P2P model is tough,is because it appears that only the well estabished large developers have the right to charge for P2P.I don't think it is fair personally, especially when i see a game like Aion raping thousands for an unfinished product, yet i see many expect a finished product from a small developer in this game.

I would say this game has a better vision than most games out there, but if it is true that they copied a lot of it's look/design from WOW,that would be a bummer, people like to see something unique when they pop from game to game.

Never forget 3 mile Island and never trust a government official or company spokesman.

I feel bad for the people David Allen got behind his unique vision, they start crafting the world only to find, they remade WoW with a study system, a built in "wiki" that gives you all the quest/mob/drop information, and a social network that has nothing to do with the actual game.

What about the class skills? Are they pretty much just wow skills with slightly different icons and renamed? Note the 'anger' system which sounds rather familiar, as does the warri..I mean, Soldier specs. Ive not looked into any of the other classes.

Especially the "soldier" starts out more or less the same as a warrior..you get charge, rend, your standard "this strike does weapondmg + x or +x%" crap, cleave, whirlwind...

Like everything else in the game it lacks everything that would make it interesting or even unique.

Ah wait...you only get rage for hitting, not for being hit (that might have changed).

The talents are a mess( for every class, in fact). It looks like they just dropped some warrior-ish phrases into a table. Most talents are for skills you will not be able to train for at least 10 more lvls, or completly useless, or not working yet.
