lfg need help
OK I have played all the normal types of mmos (KO,WOW,WAR,EVE,etc) for over 10 years.
I love the concept of getting gear, character progression (rank/levels) I like the trading aspect of markets and most importantly PVP.
Howver because of real life time constraints it is very difficult to play these types of games. I am finding that I am able to play more of a COD (xbox) fps game that allows me instantly to get on and pvp people. I am looking for a hybrid of the two. FPS that allows me to play but with the market, items, and rank progression. The straight FPS like COD is fun but is a repitious grind with no real point except just go shoot someone and can get boring after awhile. I need Help!!!
Also I am able to play PC and XBOX.
Ninja edit: Also the whole class system I love. THe idea that you are a "role" type character is a big thing for me. I was looking at planetside but heard the pop had died because of the age of the game

Well, you chose pretty good time to look for such game. Global Agenda and All Points Bulletin are being released during the first quarter of this year. At least Global Agenda seems to be exactly what you're looking for. I'm not sure does ABP have actual character progression. So check out both forums for more info. After those, only option I can see is Fallen Earth. It's much more of a traditional MMORPG, but you might like it, I believe they're working on the PvP content rather furiously.
Thanks I did take a look at APB last night I listened to all the pod casts and they have no real character progression. Its more of a MMO GTA type game where you can be a good guy or bad guy. They say theres a market but nothing in the gameplay shows any type of experience or "money/loot" You do build up reputation with contacts but thats about it.
Ill take a look at the others. Im new to the FPS genre and have always steered clear of them because I dont like playing FPS on pc but I figured out how to use my 60" as the monitor and hooked up an xbox controller. I even had it working very nicely for pvp in warhammer....
Anything else out there currently similiar to planetside that would work? I was just looking at AOC but I think thats more of a traditional mmo not an fps? It might work for what I need but I need mroe info the forums were more player related issues.

Do you mean Borderlands is mainly online? Cause that's completely untrue. Or do you mean that you're looking for a mainly online rpg, in which case I understand.
