I keep going back to it because despite its cartoony, funny nature, it has a deep, team structured combat system. You really have to learn the classes, thier abilities, and where, when, and how they are best played.
TF2 is usually only $19 through steam, although it has gone as low as $2 on sale, so you cant really go wrong with the price, especially considering that Valve has been pushing out free updates for the last two years that contain not just bug fixes, balances, etc, but also new maps, weapons, and features.

tf2 gets boring after a few days. GA keeps you hooked for a long time. having played tf2 since it came out, i can safely say that GA is actually a better and more balanced shooter. not to mention much more in-depth given the character progression and many different game modes. also, GA is an mmo. so if you want a shooter and an mmo, then tf2 would be a much much worse option.
TF2 was horrible, so yes GA is much better. I played about 20 hours of TF2 since release and every time I try it I cannot get into it all. TFC ftw!
Thats too bad, while I enjoyed TFC it was pretty much a spamfest. While I did have hundreds of hours in TFC and I still LOVE many of the maps, TF2 is a very well done sequal. I will say, I think TFC is a better clan game but TF2 is much more fun for random play. Sure its not the same game but in a way that is a good thing. It feels more professional and polished, it is a good standalone product.
I don't know exactly what you're looking for, nor have I ever played Global Agenda, so I can't really compare TF2 with it nor say if TF2 is what you're looking for.
But, that being said I have played quite a bit of TF2 and can very easily recommend it if you are looking for a really fun, deep, team-based shooter w/ a simple progression system, then TF2 is what you're looking for. It can't really be compared to a MMO, as the most people in a single battle are 64 (32 on each team), unless you're playing on a hacked server then the limits could be higher but the game isn't really much fun like that imo. The only shortfall you may find w/ TF2 is that the progression isn't really that deep, and certainly not as deep as you'd find in most MMOs. The progression for each class only consists of a handful of unlockable weapons, items, and some fluff like hats and costumes and such, so it may seem a bit shallow but you have to remember that it isn't really meant to be as deep as an MMO. One area TF2 excells though is strategic, and tactical shooter gameplay, the synergy between the different classes makes for some really exciting matches, especially when you have people that know how to play their class, and are coordinating with the rest of the team. Some of the most fun I've had in TF2 was playing the Medic, a class most people never even give a chance, but when you know what you're doing and you pair up with a Heavy, or DemoMan you can kick some serious ass
I'd say that if you're looking for a good team-based shooter, then you can't go wrong w/ TF2. If you're looking for a MMOFPS, then TF2 will probably fall short of your expectations, but even with that being said TF2 is just an awesomely fun game any way you look at it and I suggest giving it a try anyway.
TF2 is of course a very fun game. Global Agenda isnt even out yet and is holding up to its high expectations.
Id have to say TF2 for right now, as GA is still be ironed out, but GA is a great fun and very addicting game as well and will grow to be very successful. People who put down GA are just haters and/or Trolls. Its as simple as that.
Once you try GA, you wont be disappointed for how polished and fun the game play is. It is rather balanced fairly well and its easy to play any class, but forever to master and this holds true. PvE missions are an exciting side thing as well as getting materials for crafting but Im in love with the state GA is already is in and will be there from the get go. Many fun times to be had.
I've played both games and honestly, I'm choosing TF2. Now I should mention that I already own TF2, so it also saves me money.
When I played GA, I just felt it wasn't fun enough for me to justify a monthly fee. There were too of what I call "bullshit!" moments, where you just throw up your hands and shout "Bullshit!" because the scout/sniper/spy guy stealthed in and stabbed you to death or the hw/soldier guy is just too tough for you to ever kill or what have you. Your experience may be different.
So after determining it wasn't worth the monthly fee for me, I read up on what you get with the non-fee version, which is pretty good stuff, and I like the look of everything, but honestly it only satisfies the same gameplay craving that TF2 also satisfies for me. Consider also that I'd have to buy a new game when i already have tf2 and can play that whenever. I'd buy GA if all my friends were getting it, but honestly I think I'll just stick with TF2.

Personally I never like TF2 because of the art style and gameplay. I am against the "cartoon-look" and extremelly fast-paced gameplay. It gets boring very quick to me, TFC has a slower pace and to me seem to actually require more skill. TF2 is more of a spam fest with the fast reloading, rockets, demo's, SG rockets, etc flying around everywhere. Sniping is also horrible in TF2, which is what I loved to do on TFC. All personal opinion of course, but that is just me.

Yeah, I only have played 900 hours of TF2. Very boring. 9 classes, dozens of fleshed out and balanced maps, unlocks for all classes.
Much better to buy a game with 4 generic classes, max of 10 v 10 where you could only play with 3 of your friends unless you pay $13 a month ... to play 4 generic cookie cutter maps(center base and 2 wings).

That's your opinion, me and a few others find it boring apparently. The most boring aspect of TF2 is the fact there is hardly any weapons for each class in the game, no "specials" etc. IMO it is a lot more shallow than GA currently is, yes you can unlock weapons but they are more of a cosmetic value than any real value.
Would TF2 be a better option then GA based on a sub version of GA
Dunno about GA, but in matters of PvP, TF2 is for me the better option compared to everything else. :P TF2 got great visuals, no monthly fee, everyone has the same chances, tons of players, new content added for free, very funny quotes and smooth gameplay.

- 9 classes is nothing. theyre all very 2-dimensional and you cant customize your loadout very much (oooo 2 options for each slot, no wai). every scout will look the same (oh wait, they added hats. lol.). once you master each class (takes about 2-3 weeks if you have fps skills), and once you play through each map a few times the game gets very stale. amateur mappers come up with imbalanced, bad maps. and valve just doesnt update the game often enough. but it's better than nothing i suppose.
- 4 classes in GA with a countless ways to loadout and spec your skills. for example, marksmanship is one skill tree of the recon. you can play a marksman with two sniper rifles, each one changes your gameplay completely. one that does high damage to objects and the other that adds a healing debuff. then you can play with a machinegun and bombs. so there are three ways to play a class within ONE skill tree, and each way can be further customized with the loadout of your preference. for example, your machine gun recon can carry bombs if you like being in the thick of things, or a ranged stim if you prefer to stay at medium range and do great dps; or you can carry both....then, which bombs will you choose? it just keeps going. so essentially, GA isnt really limited by "classes". id much rather play that, thanks.
- tf2 is what it is. a fun fast-paced FPS with very limited replayability. how or why some people play tf2 for hundreds of hours is beyond me. ADHD maybe?
- the free to play option of GA ($45) gives you way more than retail tf2 had to offer. 5 very different pvp gameplay modes, 5 pve gameplay modes, with each mode consisting of 3-4 unique maps. do the math...you get about 40 maps with the RETAIL f2p version of GA. in addition, GA's maps are so much more fun than tf2's because of the z-axis. the jetpack and vertical nature of each map adds a whole different style to the game. it's a combination of tribes and TF2. finally, if you choose to play the f2p version, the dev team will throw more content your way. more maps, more equipment. valve throws breadcrumbs. well, it's better than nothing i suppose.
- this guy is another example of someone who hasnt really played the game. it sounds to me like he played one pvp mode, control point capture. additionally, he didnt do his research, he bought it expecting something else in his mind, and now hes spreading his whines over the forums.
- so to summarize, the retail f2p package that GA will offer is lightyears ahead of what TF2 offers NOW. i dont know why people dont like to read, but it's all over the internetz: you dont have to pay the monthly fee to enjoy 40+ maps, 10 gameplay modes, 4 "generic" classes with rpg-like customization and countless ways to personalize your toon. as well as regular new maps and equipment. basically, you cant really compare the two. one is a fps, the other is a tactical third person shooter with way more content and unlimited customization. and a whole different game if you choose to pay monthly.

Quite a few mistakes.
1. Anyone can get a refund for GA right now until the game goes live.
2. You can't customize your loadout much, they all look the same?
Well, you get 3 unlockable alternatives in TF2. In GA, everyone gets the same base weapons, period. 4 classes compared to 9.
As for looking the same. Everyone looks the same in GA unless you want to spend money to specifically play fashion designer... If that is your idea of fun... grinding to make yourself look different.. well, ok. Gameplay is tops for me.
3.TF2 is fast paced? Limited replayability?
Dozens upon dozens of custom maps. Tons of playing modes, server mods, higher player counts(16v16)...
GA has 4 copied maps in the first mode... then you have a completely broken spamfest of a payload variety. 3rd mode is a poor version of CTF, which TF2 has... need I go on?
There is only 2 PVE maps per mode... they are all generic corridors with a generic boss at the end....
TF2 lets you play with 35 other friends in a game... GA lets you play with 3.... Unless you pay $13 a month and hope down the line you could join with 9 others... and if you are in a big enough guild you get to play with 9 others competitively at certain parts of the day.
all wrong. it's pretty obvious to me that youre seeking attention for whatever reason. not wasting any more of my time on this thread. i believe i answered everyone's questions/misinformation and dispelled the garbage spread by you.

This seems to be the trend in this forum. If someone stomps their feet and says "no no!" followed by an attack, it is an equivalent of an argument.
Isn't it strange that there are a bunch of people here unwilling to ever actually address points? An AWFUL lot of damage control going on here.

Pyro- Having the ability to airblast vs getting criticals when attacking from behind.. this is cosmetic?
Spy- Being able to stay cloacked indefinitely if standing still, vs being always cloaked and going invisible if hit vs normal mode ... this is cosmetic?
Demoman- Using a shield which absorbs damage with a sword that lets you charge and build up increasing crit abilities while getting crits while charging vs using 2 different types of sticky guns... this is cosmetic?
Heavy- Using a shotgun vs having a sandwich that heals you to full health... this is cosmetic?
Medic- Having a gun that gives crits for 10 seconds vs 10 seconds of invulnerability... this is cosmetic?
Soldier- Having a shotgun vs having boots that reduce rocket damage vs having a horn that gives allies bonuses when your rage is built up.. this is cosmetic?

As I said, slight changes... trying to compare a game that adds damage/attack/skills to a game that switches out skills ie airblast OR crits in the back is a big difference in my mind.

I will say, I think TFC is a better clan game but TF2 is much more fun for random play. Sure its not the same game but in a way that is a good thing. It feels more professional and polished, it is a good standalone product.

Dunno about GA, but in matters of PvP, TF2 is for me the better option compared to everything else. :P TF2 got great visuals, no monthly fee, everyone has the same chances, tons of players, new content added for free, very funny quotes and smooth gameplay.
Let's play Fallen Earth (blind, 300 episodes)
Let's play Guild Wars 2 (blind, 45 episodes)

You think TF2 unlockable weapons are cosmetic and we are supposed to listen to your opinion?

They really are cosmetic, the bonuses they give slightly help at certain tasks and that is all. I really don't care if you listen to my opinion at all, and wasn't even stating anywhere that you should. I simply stated your opinion is your own as is mine my own.

You really want me to go on?

As I said, slight changes... trying to compare a game that adds damage/attack/skills to a game that switches out skills ie airblast OR crits in the back is a big difference in my mind.
