someone should make a thread of just this these emails and other attempts at phising and scamming mmorpg gamers serve as a database of sorts to keep gamers aware just in case someone might fall  for it

You know they prob have already gotten over 100 accounts.  People aren't very smart, and when giving dumb people access to the internet there are inherent risks.

My guild leader fell for one of these when I was playing WoW.

He got everything back, but we still made fun of him for ages.

I don't know, judging by how some people type on the Internet I'm liable to think that they'd be fooled into thinking that that was perfect grammar.

Yikes this looks like it was written by someone who swallowed 57 "business writing" manuals and didn't digest anything properly.

Sad thing is, one of our bosses at work sends out emails that make as little sense as that every day. We print off the email, pass it around, try to decrypt it, get headaches, and finally ignore it. We figure if it's really important we'll get a screaming phone call that explains things.....

Lame phishing attempt (of 5 in my inbox today):

When you receive this message when your World Of Warcraft Account means that there are serious security risks.

We have evidence to prove your account has been in different countries and regions, several attempts to login.

So we have to remind you to enter our web site as soon as possible http://www.worldofwarcraft.com to account verification, otherwise, we will be lock your account.

In order to protect your interests.

Yeah, so bad they couldn't even spoof the reply-to addy.

Naturally, the link pointed elsewhere too.

I'm amused by the amount of un-related to anything "whens" in the message, and the "will be lock" your account threat, also by the implication that my long-dormant account has been off on holiday without me (but presumably with my Blizzard authenticator....sheesh!).
