Want to try this game ,just some questions

Hi All

I use to play the pen and paper AD&D game  in the forgotten realms and have always been an avid fan of the whole D&D universe

Anyway since all the positive reviews lately  I want to give this MMO a turn .I have some questions

1. I want to subscribe to the game ...is there a difference between content in the game world  between the European and US servers ? I have read the US servers have more content and are F2P ...this isnt an issue to me as I want to pay but what benefits will that get me on the US servers
2. Where can I actually download the game from ?I couldn't find it on Steam or Direct2Drive
3. Finally what are the most populated servers in the US

1.)  The US servers are a bit different.  I'm not sure if they've gotten all the updates, but they are Free to Play.  You can pay for a subscription (which gets you access to ALL of the content among a few other benefits).

2.)  You can download the client from Turbine.  www.ddo.com/ddosupport/download-ddo

3.)  Last I played Argo was the most populated (also with the most upper level characters).  Cannith might be pretty popualted, as that was a "new" server when they launched Unlimited.

1. It's an f2p game no matter what region you're in. It used to be p2p but they changed their business model due to the game failing. From what I know content is the same everywhere.

You can buy points with which you can buy extra content/potions/etc.

You can also earn those points by just playing, but that can be quite a grind. 

 

2. Download it from the official site. They have a list of mirrors there. 

 

3. No idea, really.

first off DDO is not D&D it has some close points but more thats way off the mark

2nd its not a good time to be a VIP/subscriber in this game as the DEV. are trying to make the change from P2P to F2P its  a slow and painful event in any game

you can ez play now for months with out spending a penny max lvl is 20 with 5 sub lvls between each lvl lvl 13 is very ez to hit with out spending a dime also the more quest you do the more game cash you earn so you can buy a upgrade pack or 2 along the way to open yourself up to more quests

more and more of the game will be free to play over the next few months untill the vip slowly fade away

with update 3 just being finished all serv. are or should be on the same page

as far as what serv has the highest population its no longer possable to tell  there are 1000's trying the game weekly some play for a few day/week and are gone some stick around a search of serv. count will only show all that have EVER made a toon on that serv

just try a serv for a day if you dont  like it let it fall and try a new serv. and you get free game cash for that toons trying a serv.

ive capped /max lvl 4 toons in the last 3 months the games not hard and there making it ezer ever update so if its pen and paper gameing style your looking for im sorry to say you wont find it here
