LF a free MMo

LotosSlayerLotosSlayer Member Posts: 247

I want something to play until Darkfall has a free trial(or atleast lowers the price from $50) or FFXIV comes out. It can be a F2P MMo, a P2P with a free version, or a beta you consider is worth playing. Usually I hate games that are solo/quest based leveling, but I can make an exception here since I'll only be playing it for awhile, ofcourse I'd still prefer group based though. As for cash shops, they're fine aslong as they don't sell important stuff like equipment or zones, 'cause I won't be buying anything. If using the cash shop/itemmall/whatever in the game is required to have fun then I can't play it. I don't mind if it's PvE or PvP focused, either is fine. Also, if there's any sandbox MMos that are free or in a good beta please tell me. Oh and, no childish cartoon crap as graphics. I already know about Anarchy Online, Runescape, and Guild Wars.[ Mod Edit ]

Thanks in advance.

Your out of luck unless you decide to pay for the game, sandbox games are far and in between.

What about DDO, Allods, TCOS? Can anyone tell me about those games?

All three are awesome games, most grouping happens in DDO, most quest based leveling is allods and TCOS i would wait till they re-release the game since that seems to be coming out shortly. Also may i suggest checking out atlantica, it has the turn based combat from FF and is overall a fantastic game.

DDO is a good game, it's pretty much entirely quest/instance based however. They also sell zones, character classes, etc in the cash shop. You don't really need that stuff to play the game casually though, and it is possible (although mind numbingly difficult) to unlock everything in the cash shop for free. Getting the most popular adventure packs would not be a problem as a free player.

DDO really isn't about getting the best gear or most tweaked character. It's more of a throwback to old school D&D (exploring dungeons, enjoying the content). That being said, the D&D 3.5 system DDO is based on allows for an unreal amount of character customization (think multiclassing at 2nd level). You can seriously get lost exploring all the possible character builds.

It's a different kind of game but worth trying out. Especially if you ever got into paper D&D or Neverwinter Nights.
