I'm an every-type of game snob, the money put in is always secondary to the time I put in, which is worth more to me than the cash.
I need a game to be enjoyable all the way through, or I'll put it down and play something else without looking back, and I've put down many games that others loved, thanks to nausea with the frame rates or motion for example.
My favourite MMO is still WoW though I've experimented with many others, just because it's so simple to play and there's a lot of nice folk on my server to play with. Though in some cross server PuG's I have met some of the biggest gits on the face of the planet too.
Interestingly I am a Bioware fanatic but I dropped DAO half way through because it lacked the oomph of their other titles for me.
I would love to see another NWN style game, but this time as an MMO.
And I have loved games everyone else hated, particularly Pools of Radiance, I loved the turn based multi character party concept, though if you didn't find the big spear that dealt insane damage I have no idea how you'd beat the final boss.
I've tested many F2P games and subscribed to a few over the years. I still enjoy Guild Wars (F&F beta), Mabinogi (beta), Runescape, etc. I am also a Lifetime subscriber of LOTRO...which is worthy of my investment. I played DAoC for 5 years and The Realm Online for 10 years...so I will spend years of $$ for games that hold my attention.
Content and the fun-factor are what decides where I will invest my money. Unfortunately, I can't afford to try every game/type on the market...maybe after I win the lottery! ~¦Þ
I played runescape when I was a kid, and I think they've got a great sub. model- and it's well implemented. There's f2p and p2p games. You subscribe for the pay to play and then you get to play on special servers with other paying members, the content is completely separate and you cannot use any of your p2p advantages on f2p. Aside from better areas being available for training and such, there is no advantage from being a p2p player on an f2p server.
It's one of the few games that is f2p and not p2w (pay-to-win, found that on RF forums)

Or, In another way of say It: Money can't -GUARANTEE- you hapiness. -YOU- are the one who makes It happen.
