More Action in the Alpha Quadrant
We've got even more great additions planned for Star Trek Online. Here's just a bit of what's coming:
* Klingon Fleet Actions - Form up with your closest friends and do battle in large engagements.
* A New Klingon Ship - You asked for it, we made it: A Tier 2 Klingon Battle Cruiser.
* Klingon Star Clusters - Seek out new life and civilizations ... and subjugate them! Additional PvE content for the Klingon faction.
* Federation vs. Federation PvP - Practice against your allies before engaging your enemies.
* New Ground Maps - We'll be adding a new Ground Assault PvP map, as well as a new ground Fleet Action.
* More IP Locations - Check out Rura Penthe and our whole solar system, from Mercury to Pluto.
So according to their website listing of what is coming in COMMON GROUND, there is nothing like what I highlighted above.
That quote was taken from a "state of the game" posting from the website at an earlier date.
All I can see is that Klingons can now do the fleet actions, which I really don`t class as exploration missions.
Too me that says that they were expecting to add the cluster missions (That the feds have for klingons.
So way togo cryptic, you let that 1 slip hoping that people don`t notice!!
Well I did!!!

if you search through the forums theres actually a really good post about what cause this situation, it has to do with contract obligations and meeting deadlines for bonus'. doesnt change anything that is happening but quotes cryptic press releases heavily to show what happened. its worth the read
IF THE ONLY DEFENCE FOR CRITICISM OF A GAME IS CALLING SOMEONE A TROLL OR HATER, THAT SAYS A LOT ABOUT THE QUALITY OF THE GAME
Ok, I'm going to play the bastard here (again). Just because it's not in the next content drop, doesn't mean it won't happen. Please correct me if I'm wrong, but I don't recall the state of the game saying that all of these things would be in "Common Ground". Also, the state of the game goes on to say that plans may change. Damn, an online game where plans change? Never seen that before.
I want a mmorpg where people have gone through misery, have gone through school stuff and actually have had sex even. -sagil
well i know i said i was selling you a car, but hey the four tires are there. the rest is on its way, trust me.
IF THE ONLY DEFENCE FOR CRITICISM OF A GAME IS CALLING SOMEONE A TROLL OR HATER, THAT SAYS A LOT ABOUT THE QUALITY OF THE GAME
/sigh
There it is again, the tired "half a car" argument. I'm as pissed as anybody that there wasn't more to this game, but the fact remains that we bought what IS in the game, not what isn't. We all knew EXACTLY what we were paying for: combat, no endgame, Starfleet PvE, Klingon PvP, crafting designed by a 3 year old, ect. We all hoped that the game wouldn't come to such an abrupt end so early, but it does and we knew that. If you bought this game expecting more than was in the box....sorry. Should we expect more for the monthly fee? Hell yes! But in the meantime, quit paying it and wait to see what gets added in the future. They got their box sales, they got their lifers; if enough people refuse to pay the monthly, they will do one of two things: shut it down, or crank out content. Heres to hoping for content.

agreed, but in the mean time, we can warn others not to touch this product or associated companies with ...... well anything.
if cryptic went bankrupt tommorrow it could only be a good thing for the mmo industry as a whole. showing that blatantly ripping customers off is a poor business model will hopefully discourage other companies from trying the same thing.
allready have cancelled, and personally wont buy another atari/cryptic product again until i hear from people that have played it that it is worth trying.
word of mouth has made games, my guess is it will kill this one, and imho the sooner the better. the sooner it flops the sooner another company can try to make a star trek mmo that is something more than whack-a-mole in space.
IF THE ONLY DEFENCE FOR CRITICISM OF A GAME IS CALLING SOMEONE A TROLL OR HATER, THAT SAYS A LOT ABOUT THE QUALITY OF THE GAME
Honestly though why would I want to try to warn others to not touch the product, I can say as having just revealed in a few posts myself that in something like a month or two I plan to stop subbing but I am sure that STO's gameplay as is is fine for some and who am I to tell a stranger what to and not to do especially by using misleading arguments like that whole car argument you tried to use.
The truth is as stated to you noone was lied to we pretty much knew what we were getting when we paid for it and as such I atleast knew there was a half a chance I would find myself bored before a month was in and quit.
My biggest complaint about Cryptic is they design mmo's much like old style arcade button mashers, they generally give you one strong thing to do and we the players are expected to want to do that one thing our entire playtime and I am personally not built like that, but I can only assume that a CEO wouldn't be that clueless so there must be that market out there somewhere right Cryptic?
I'll advise people of exactly what I think of STO there are about three different "gaming systems" you deal with space combat, ground combat and memory alpha crafting and only one space combat is worth anything to me but I'm not going to go around embelishing the truth with statements like the half a car argument. We as gamers constantly know the risk when we buy these games in unfinished states and tell ourselves at time of purchase "no big deal when I get sick of it I can quit" and sure enough as soon as we find ourselves unhappy we feel the need to lash out.
Honestly charge it to the game and move on.
but yeah, to call this game Fantastic is like calling Twilight the Godfather of vampire movies....
