Curious

Just wondering if anyone would pay money to revert either World of Warcraft back to the late vanilla-ish period, or Star Wars Galaxies to pre NGE? Or maybe there is another game you would wish reverted back in time.

I prefer to look to the future instead of the past. I like the past, but hate nostalgia.

edit - I think I would've liked to have played SWG back in the day, but all things considered, maybe its for the best that I didnt.

I played WoW back before Burning Legion.

It required a lot more grouping, there were many elite mobs.  And it wasn't always easy to get groups especially if you wanted to play during off hours.

I know there is a vocal group calling for a vanilla WoW server.  Blizz has said a few times that they weren't going to do this, mostly because they don't want to maintain two sets of code.  I don't know if this group is a vocal minority or a big enough group to populate a whole server.

I dont know. I asked in trade chat on two servers if people would play vanila WoW if it were a server, and most of them said yes.

WOW?  No.   Why would I want to be forced to spec my Paladin for healing if I wanted to use my Tier gear?    Or Druid?  Or Priest?  Or Shaman?   Not to mention all the other nice things like Pets and Mounts not taking up inventory space, dual specs and not having to re-buy spells on a talent respec.

As far Star Wars, if I'm reverting that universe, I'm killing everything produced by Lucas from the Phantom Menace onward.  Ok, I'd take the part before Jar-Jar appears, but only because it's vague enough to be built from there.

Both are dated to me now.  But, give me an upgraded breadth and depth of game-play Star Wars Galaxies pre NGE, and I'll take a look at it.

    Agree, upgraded in the visual/animations/content/performance.

For WoW: Absolutely not, the quality of the game has improved drastically over the past 5 years, both exp packs have brought tons of quality to the game and it is a much better product, game now then it was at launch.

For SWG: Absolutely yes but with a giant freaking asterix ****. Work needed to be done on some very core issues, keep the things that made SWG so very special but put some serious work into those things that did not work. Bring Story Archs back and get rid of the timeline. Make Jedi an alpha class again, make a vision for the game and stick to it.

WoW, definitely not. Even though in vanilla days I was in the fortunate 1% of the playerbase who had 40 friends to raid with, and thus actually had an endgame, it wasn't even remotely as good as it is now. Yes there have been some mistakes made but really its twenty steps forward two steps back.
