Hello MMORPG community! It has been awhile since I dedicated a thread to MMORPG news. However, I find that this new press release from Winch Gate would benefit those of us in the community who are interested in video game coding.

The press release that I received (because as a member you receive press releases in your e-mail) stated that Ryzom is going Open Source and is submiting its coding free of charge to the entire world via the Free Software Foundation. Essentially, all of us budding video game programmers can take a look at how the coding for this game (and several others who have submitted to the Free Software Foundation) works. Not only that, but you can tweak the coding of tons of different Open Source games to make changes in your favor, enhance current coding, etc.

On a side note, this has nothing to do with Ryzom or Winch Gate as the group that holds the codes are not affiliated and provide access to codes from other games that are not licensed by Winch Gate as well. So please take this as a bit of news meant to inform and not a spam message that is meant to persuade.

Thanks for reading this moderately sized wall of text. I hope that this interests some of you who are looking into working in the gaming profession. I would link to the Free Software Foundation page so you can all explore but that may be borderline T.O.S. violation and I'd prefer to not do that. However, I am sure plugging the foundation name into a search engine will lead you to the page.
