Been doin this MMO thing since 1998 - started with UO and I have virtually played every single sub MMO since - and not ONCE NOT ONCE have a I been hacked, or had any "customer service issues" with any company except star vault, which they eventually fixed after a few months.
Why?
I don't ever, nor have I ever bought gold.....when people talk about "oh my NCsoft acct was hacked for this game this game and this game....It is most def. something on your end, not theirs
good for you so has most of us , and its not on our end.... if you actually read some of the posts and seen what has happen for a fact, then you would know not every one got banned on our end... I was in a coma and came back to my account kacked banned from being used from..... a gold seller and they knew my state does not sell 30 month game cards as I never use them...
They gave me my account back but why would I wanna play a game where it wasn't my fault my account was hacked.. I always thought as you and said its players fault they where hacked or they gave there info out, well after it happen to me now I see its not always the case.. when it happens to you then you will see as I did see... it was not on our end and ncsoft even told me this... and if want I be more than happy to call them with you on 3rd line party to hear it.. since you have no common sense.. and think we are all at fault..
At times people do get hacked there fault sometimes not, but ncsoft had so many people get the same thing happen hacked and banned for teh purpose to use there account while we are inactive to make and sell kinah on ebay.. as ncsoft stated to me.. thats why people like myself got our accounts back... I even sent them a hositpol report showing I was gone... to prove it wasnt me and it wasn't i'm not a kid and I been playing MMO's since UO days and never had this happen as well. so stop saying its our fault its really annoying and incorrect information .
for all those pointing out that NCsoft being the publisher doesn't mean they have control...
true the creative issues will belong to the developers, but NCsoft (i don't know about Aion) controls all of your accounts with a NCsoft master account. for customer service, you eventually go through them.
As for bots/farmers is not so much the fault of the publisher as it is of how the game is designed. Wow for example doesn't suffer from this not because they are good in fighting the farmers but because is pointless farming or boting in that game. Gold doesn't have much valor in the game and you don't get the great stuff if you don't play.
Little correction here. Wow suffered from the exact same problem and still does to this day. Though no where near as bad. With the many years of lawsuits and trying to find in game means of dealing with bots and rmt's and then finally comming out with the authenticators the problem has lessned significantly.
So even Blizzard and WoW had this issue. Every popular MMO does. But I know I know this defeats the rant against NCSoft.... carry on and ignore logic.
Actually, it does no such thing. Simply because others have had the same problem, doesn't justify NCsofts lack of action(in terms of Linage2 for example). Nor does it justify their wild swings with the ban hammer.
Blizzard has done a lot to deal with the problem of spamming and botting. Things are MUCH better now than they were in the past. As long as there are fools that are willing to pay for such things, there will be people willing to supply them.
That having been said, NCsoft has a long history of ignoring botting spamming for as long as they can. That attitude just isn't as tolerated in the west, as it appears to be in the east. Yet another example of NCsofts lack of understanding of the differences.
See this just says you haven't and don't play NCSoft games or any MMO's for that matter. FFXI, Age of Conan, WoW, War, EQ2, UO, I could go on but if you've ever played an MMO and or visited the forums of an MMO you'd know for a fact that Bots, RMT's and hacked accounts are things that plauge EVERY MMO until it's not worth doing so. UO to this day still has spam, RMT and bots and it's going on what 13 years old?
West or East it doesn't matter, the publisher doesn't matter. Every MMO has the same problems with RMT, Bots and Hacking. No one has yet found that magic formula that stops it. I still get emails constantly about my non existant WoW account being hacked. I don't have a WoW account. I did a free trial last year finally but thats it lol. The forums for WoW are still riddled with complaints about bots, rmt's and hacking. There was a big thing not that long ago about massive wave of hacking for WoW durring the same period of time that Aion had it's massive wave of account hacking.
And yes NCSoft is doing the same as every other publisher when it comes to dealing with RMT and Bots. They are trying and thats about all any of them can do because as WoW proves you simply can't stop them yet. And yes NCSoft has been actively trying to stop them just as everyone else has but just like everyone else they have some success but can't stop them.
The only thing I do have an issue with is that NCSoft hasn't come out with there own authenticators yet, but it's something they are discussing and working on.
That so far is the only thing working in stopping account hacking. RMT's and Bots and the spam they bring is still around in every other MMO though.
And the wild swings with the ban hammer comment is laughable. The majority of the innocent claims have been debunked. Like all ban waves from any other MMO some do get caught up but like every other MMO many rightfuly banned players get in an uproar because they got caught. They began with this whole I was wrongfuly banned campaign and try to get the community all worked up.
Sorry, but the ban waves is something commen with every other MMO as well. And yes some innocent players get swept up in them and NCSoft reviews cases that are disputed.
I personally have never had a problem with NCSoft support, but thats just me seems numerous people have. So call them on there support.
Call them out on the fact that they don't have authenticators or Security tokens yet but at least acknowledge it's something there considering.
But for the love of jeebus lol quit trying to nit pick on them for problems that every MMO has. And don't lie about them taking no action against RMT's, Bots and spammers. I've personally seen them taking actions against them, the ban waves were for that specific reason as well.
But again carry on and don't let silly things like logic and fact end your rant.
This.
My point in stating my personal issues earlier was to point out that dispite their flaws I was still willing to play their games because, their games are worth playing. All games have issues. What matters is the quality and content of the game itself.
This isn't news. NCsoft has been their publisher for the longest time and it has never inpacted GW sales nor will it impact GW2 sales either. ArenaNet runs the game, NCsoft just publishes thats all.
GW2 will have one of the worst customer services out there with NCSoft as publishers, not to mention the massive account hacking, and bots / farmers running rampant everywhere... what were guys in ArenaNet smoking when they thought of NCSoft as publishers?
Seeing that NCSoft is the 100% owner of Arenanet since 2001 i dont see why things will be different for gw2 than it was with gw1

Ah the wonders of english as a second language... ^^ Its always amusing to watch the anti WoW crowd dance around the fact that after more than 5 years, WoW still has millions and millions of paying players. Outside of the fact that NCsoft doesn't seem to have a clue about the differences between the eastern and western markets(look at Linage2 and Aion as just two examples) they are pretty much the same as most other MMO publishers. In other words, poor quality customer service(because professionals cost much more) and reactive rather than proactive policies. Thats simply the nature of the beast.

Please enlighten me on how Blizzards costumer service is so much better then NCSofts service?
Having played NCSoft games of and on now for over 6 years and never ever had any problems with them.
in my personal experience i had better service at NCSoft then blizzard when i needed them.
And yes my 2nd language is english, when you speak as good Dutch as i do english you can comment on my grammer

I got to play my account for 5 days from release before I got banned and hacked... and I paid 70 bucks for my game, I won't buy another ncsoft game again. First MMO I been hacked with since MMO's came out... They told me I went to a bad/fake site funny thing was I was gone for months in a coma..... so kinda hard to do that ... then they told me I took to long to tell them about my account well I was in a coma... and they told me well its your responsible to do this and that, I said why didn't you email me so my wife could see it etc.,. They said its not there policy to do so.. nice company won't happen again they can shove it.. Anyone who buys there stuff is asking for there money to be taken and peopel can bash others etc when it happen to you , you will see, ban and hack only happens if you inactive , its a very common practice ncsoft told me , kinda funny they knew what was going on yet they did nothing can you say inside job....
Because it is your fault. Don't buy another NCsoft game I'm sure they'll do just fine.

You did notice that ^^? It was meant in jest. But you must admit that all too many english speakers write just about as poorly. Mores the pity. Please re read what I wrote. I didn't say that Blizzard was better(as a publisher). I also stated why this trend is so uniform.
I've never studied that family of languages, but it does seem interesting.

Of course the bash on NCSoft not having a clue how to please western gamers requires you to completely ignore the fact that GW was HUGE in the west. And we are talking about GW2 so I think thats very important to note.
But hey, like I said ignore logic and fact and continue on with your rant lol.

You need to macro that last part, as you seem so fond of it... ^^ Yes, GW is one of the exceptions. Do you know one of the reasons why? It doesn't force PvP on players as Aion and Linage2 do. If either of those had PvE realms I'd likely still be playing them. Thats just one of the major differences NCsoft doesn't seem to get.

I really should because some seem so fond of ingoring fact and logic. Like right now, you say GW's is an exception because it doesn't force PvP on players. Then you ignore what they've said about PvP in GW2? Where has anyone said anything about forced PvP for GW2? I mean seriously lol back up your point here about GW2 forcing PvP on players and I will stop with the ignore logic and fact comment.

ArenaNet calls the shots as to the making of GW2 just like in GW. Hence why its radically different from Aion and Lineage 2. People bitching about NCSoft as the publisher need to learn to do a few mins of research before harping on it.

Well they are correct in that NCSoft does publish the game, but that's all they do. The development and support for the game is all ArenaNet.

I'm sorry I was using logic and I guess that was confusing. You agreed that NCSoft was not a good publisher for GW2. One of the reasons being that NCSoft doesn't understand western gamers. You said an example of this is how they force PvP on players. Now logically if you felt the need to point this out you found it relevant to GW2.
Now if you do not find this relevant to GW2..... then you made a point about NCSoft that was moot in this discussion for what reason? It would help me out if you explain the relevance of stating that NCSoft doesn't understand Western gamers because they force PvP on players while discussing a game that you know isn't forcing PvP on players.
I know you were hoping to use the ignore logic thing on me and it would have been funny had you succeeded, but sorry not the case. Nice try though definetly an A for effort!

No. Details matter. I have said that NCsoft is typical of publishers in terms of poor quality service, and also that they tend to allow botters and spammers to run amuck for as long as possible before they finally get around to doing something about them. I said nothing about them not publishing GW2. Further more, as I stated, I made no reference to GW2 forcing PvP. The examples I used were Aion, and Linage2. Do you dispute those examples?
You are conflating various positions(some of which have not been expressed by me). NCsofts past history(and current actions) demonstrate that they have little real understanding of the cultural differences in terms of Aion and Linage2. I suspect its a function of the studios in conjunction with the main executives at NCsoft.
Finally, you totally missed the point of why this was ironic. Which makes your last even more so. ^^

You do realize those red lines are yours correct? And that we are talking about GW2 which doesn't force PvP either at least thats what the information we have says.
In any case lol as has been pointed out before NCSoft being the publisher doesn't mean fail since it didn't for GW1. Your argument didn't make much sense and was fairly self defeating since you brought up points that had no relevance with GW2. It amazed me further that you even brought them up when you stated that you knew this was not the case for GW1 or GW2.

Outside of the fact that NCsoft doesn't seem to have a clue about the differences between the eastern and western markets(look at Linage2 and Aion as just two examples) they are pretty much the same as most other MMO publishers
Yes, GW is one of the exceptions. Do you know one of the reasons why? It doesn't force PvP on players as Aion and Linage2 .
But hey, you were entertaining lol. So again A for effort
Once more, no matter how much you attempt to twist or distort what I've clearly stated, I did not state that GW2 forces PvP. The examples(see above) that I used are Aion and Linage2. They DO force PvP. GW does not and GW2 does not as far as is known. I can't make my position any clearer than that. GW's has been quite a success in the west. One of the factors is that it doesn't force PvP.
Second, NCsoft as a publisher has demonstrated pretty much the same problem as many of the others(I also detailed why this trend exists). Third, your continued attempts to attribute to my position your own misconceptions do not speak well of your comprehension of the subject matter or the concepts under discussion. Which is what contributes to your remarks being so ironic. ^^

for all those pointing out that NCsoft being the publisher doesn't mean they have control...
true the creative issues will belong to the developers, but NCsoft (i don't know about Aion) controls all of your accounts with a NCsoft master account. for customer service, you eventually go through them.
Seeing that NCSoft is the 100% owner of Arenanet since 2001 i dont see why things will be different for gw2 than it was with gw1
Using "lol" and "fail" in the topic says all about the thread starter.

NCSOFT Published guild wars 1, this thread serves no real purpose as it makes no logical sense to not expect NCSOFT to publish this one.

Everything thats been stated so far from Structured PvP to the W vs. W PvP in the mists is not manditory lol. How is GW2 forcing PvP on you?
Lineage 2 Developer - NCSoft
Aion Developer - NCSoft
Guild Wars Developer - ArenaNet
Guild Wars 2 Developer - ArenaNet.
Ok... Where did I say anything about GW2 forcing PvP?? I stated that Aion and Linage2 do. Not GW2. This is really ironic... ^^
Nice try though definetly an A for effort!
i got the game for christmas, played it once, stopped for 3 weeks and couldn't log back in. i did manage to get it back, but that was a bad first impression...
I read this post before GW2 was even launched, and haven't been able to understand it. That was a bad first impression oO.
lol which game are you reffering to?
