This week in his list, MMORPG.com's Bill Murphy counts down his top five companion characters from the Star Wars universe.
#5 Greedo the Elder
The Greedo most people know is probably best known for his death at the hands of Han Solo in Chalmun's Cantina. But Greedo the Elder was a nearly unrivaled bounty hunter. His son wasn't quite the Rodian the Elder was, but the original Greedo's triumphs and legend are part of today's larger Star Wars expanded universe. I suppose it's kind of obscure and there are probably several dozen other more detailed choices for companion, but Greedo the Elder's tale of shirking his people's gladiatorial traditions in pursuit of a more profound life and existence is a pretty inspiring one. And while he died a sad death at the hands of his rival, Navik the Red, Greedo lived a righteous and honest life hunting criminals and outlaws. He was an underdog and paragon for his people to change their ways. He could almost have a movie of his own, if it weren't for those bug-eyes that kept him from Hollywood beauty.

Who wants a droid, human or alien when you can have Natalie Portman....
I die a little inside every time I remember that Padme is Luke's mother.
First it has to be Bastilla, she was perfect then HK-47 for the humour.
Jolee Bindo, because he did it all for the Wookies.
Snips. Better looking than your list and handy with a light saber.

Wicket Wystri Warrick! Obviously.
HK-47 rules, i love him so much. He was the reward for evil players in the KotoR, I loved him so much. Bastilla has really great.
"you are like the world revenge on sarcasm, you know that?"
One of those great lines from The Secret World
Shenanigans! I can not believe the incomparable Jek Porkins is not on this list! He deserves all five spots actually!
Jek Porkins is the one true hero of Star Wars!
I agree with Corthala ... HK was my favourite team member in Kotor ... he was very unique!
I would be highly disappointed if wew wouldn't have any HK type character here.
Morrigan from DA:O. Oh yeah.
Jedi Master N'Kata Del Gormo, you know, that dude that trained Yoda.
I guess we all have our preferrences. My fav 5 would be:
5. C3PO
4. Kyle Katarn
3. Chewbacca
2. My personal Padawan
1. Han Solo
Re: Three Jawas
They have to be able to /dance in unison with you. Then they will be perfect. The ultimate back-up group. Fighting, Scavanging, Trading, and Entertaining. Whatever you need, they do.
1- Guri from "Shadows of the Empire". She would be my plastic pal who is fun to be with. Yeah, and I like the film 'Galaxina' also.
2- Chewbacca is a great back up to. Because he took on his own persona (as a fictional character) Lucas had to create the Ewoks to replace Wookies in 'Return of the Jedi' as a primitive challenge to the empire.
5. Bao-Dur
Didn't care for the game, but Bao-Dur as a character was awesome. And who wouldn't want to be adressed as "General"?
4.Trask Ulgo
People often forget the little guy. This guy may not have been in KoToR very long, but his sacrafice lead to your survival.
3. Visas Marr
Why? Force sight. Plus she was kinda hot.
2. HK-47
Jolee: "Why not just shoot them where they stand? It would at least be more direct."
HK-47: "Observation: Yes, very efficient. It is what I would do."
1.Canderous Ordo
You will never find a more badass character in Star Wars. Great war stories, a true one man army.
Top five: No order
Mara Jade: Jedi with a serious rogue background an an iron determination. Sick.
Kyp: Read the books to see why you want this Force user at your back.
Carth: ITS FRIGGIN CARTH DAMN IT!
Ghent: What R2-D2 cant slice this guy CAN. No piece of information in the galaxy is safe from him.
R2-D2: Solid slicing, awesome repair, incredible will, he is awesome no doubt about it
Honorable Mentions
HK-47: My only beef is the name. Its real obvious. The other problem is the lack of heavy weapons. He makes up for it with stealth but still.
Xizor's droid: If you dont know who i'm talking about Read Shadows of the Empire. The name fails me today and that sucks. She was the only reference in the entire SW canon that i remember to a Data class Android. (full bio exterior) Viciously strong intelligent and hot to boot.
Give me an R2-D2 like droid and I'm all set.
"If all you can say is... "It's awful, it's not innovative, it's ugly, it's blah.." Then you're an unimaginative and unpolished excuse for human life" -eburn
5 JarJar (Im serious here... it is my opinion that he is an adept with no training and that is why hi is always finding so much trouble) except it would be humble more serious "oh crud I tricked the senate into supporting Palpatine as Emperor" Jar Jar. I'd take him on as my padawan TO SAVE THE GALAXY!
4)Odan Ur: Refiner of the modern Jedi Code and attempted to prepare the senate against the return of the Sith, Also a highly trained and unusually skilled Jedi at Combat, along with being long lived and having set up the Jedi Library of knowledge as it is known in the movies.
3)Any beautiful woman who can defend herself, kick my ass, put up with me, and is smart to boot. If I can win THAT over to me... I got it made!!!
2) My own padawan... or sith acolyte I have to try and "Save"
1) A Clone of myself ... We will get similar but different tattoos. I can just imagine the storylines now...
Hk47 what is love? "
Definition: 'Love' is making a shot to the knees of a target 120 kilometers away using an Aratech sniper rifle with a tri-light scope. Statement: This definition, I am told, is subject to interpretation. Obviously, love is a matter of odds. Not many meatbags could make such a shot, and fewer would derive love from it. Yet for me, love is knowing your target, putting them in your targeting reticle, and together, achieving a singular purpose, against statistically long odds."
Give me Delta Squad anyday.
"Not meaning to anger anyone with this thread, though I know in these forums its quite impossible. You can say "I enjoy vanilla ice cream" and still have 50 posts of angry, hot-tempered people who have nothing better to do than argue with you." - Dirkzen
Well definitely not any of those fools that weren't alive during that time period.....
lol
No one ever wants the MSE Droid as a companion...
Personally I gotta go with something rather random. A wookiee youngling. I mean how cute would it be to start off and have this adorable little wookiee to teach and mentor? It'd be sort of the bond between Han and his best friend, but without the whole life debt issue. If they won't let us play as wookiee, this would be a good alternative.
On another note though. It seems a bit inappropriate to have super-duper jedi heros and people from other games/timelines in here as companions. Sure as day-dreams go these are legitimate, but as viable companions not so much...
Sure a droid would be fitting to some although the iconic ones are rather cliche. Personally I would like to have the option to shape our own companion through choices rather than pick out of a line-up. Just like the story bends with your choices and actions, maybe after a few hours of gameplay you earn your companion based on your actions up to that point, thus pulling something from a more sinister culture or a righteous heritage.
I'm going in, cover me Porkins.
I'm right with ya Red Three.
*BOOM BLAST BAZOW*
Got a problem here...
JEK!
I can hold it!
PULL UP!
Nah I'm al-DADADADADADA
BOOM
I have it on very good authority (meaning I made it up) that one of the possible companions will be the legendary Jam Jar Binks. The mellow, suave, rastafarian voiced, and somewhat roguish, jedi uncle of the stunningly annoying Jar Jar Binks.
