Don't get me wrong, I know this video was from alpha stage, but if they haven't/ain't done something about it, it's not going to be good.
The graphics aren't bad at all, however I had to hold myself from throwing up with these character models and animations.
Only good thing is they kinda remind me of one of my favourite heroes when I was a kid, buzz lightyear.
Also, there is another star wars game coming along, the Clone Wars one.

No offence to the OP, but my God, are we still on the graphics discussion? Yes, it's clear it stylized and that they're aiming for Clone Wars style, most likely to lower the hardware requirements, to stop the game from looking utterly outdated in a couple of years and to make it more marketable. Shiny colors and all that jazz tend to do that when it comes to usual non-MMO crowd. It is what it is, deal with it or move on.
I think the graphics look awesome.

I like the graphics.
The gameplay looks standard.
So I would ask will the graphics make up for basic gameplay lol
Playing: Rift, LotRO
Waiting on: GW2, BP
Agreed, I'm glad the graphics won't be Age of Conan like, this way I'm not breaking the bank just to upgrade my PC which I already did last year. I can focus more on playing the game smoothly as opposed to watching a slide show.
I tend to agree with the OP, don't really wanna go back to rayman age and... my god what shitty models.
I'd love a star wars mmo..a REAL one.
The game is not even released yet and feels outdated.
Agreed. Makes me think if the graphics were ok for the OP, I wouldn't like them.
You can't please everyone. Oh well.
Well, in response to the OP, will the gameplay make up for the graphics if you don't already like the graphics?
I would say, it depends on if you like the gameplay.
I like the graphics and I think the gameplay looks great, especially for the smuggler class (and I'm also very interested in the bounty hunters story) so its more of a win-win for me.
Graphics aren't too bad, though they are good either. And the videos make gameplay seem a bit, bland too. The bounty hunter and smuggler look much more fun to play. I hate how the they Jedi/Sith battle in one position. No tactical movement or dodging.
guessing the characters and so since their so similar to other games made by Lucas Arts its probably their influence on the game and Id agree to it being a somewhat flaw atleast according to my taste. It doesnt fit with the trailers to say the least however graphics alone wont carry a game to success. The gameplay experience is much more important, is it fun, is it a good story, how is the PvP etc. Those points are much more important then eye candy... although it wouldve been nice with a more realistic approach. Wouldve been neat should they have used the Unreal engine.
Pity indeed, but cmon its a mmo.. graphics is secondarily
I'm sorry but graphics still do play a fair portion of the interest. Claymation hair styles and GI Joe kung foo grip body types will, to a degree, influence interest and subscription longevity. Not for all parties, this is a given. Some very old MMOs out there have amazing story lines, why are they not top dogs any longer? Graphics did have something to do with it. I did see someone mention the other Star Wars MMO coming out that is like that blocky cartoon network show, yes there are some similarities to it. Myself, I would prefer immersion in a realistic character over another cartoonish incarnation.

Here the fix Will the graphics make up for the game play.
Which looks teribad, super awful teribad. Oh well theres always lore.

I like the graphics. They're clean, practical, and won't require a NASA caliber supercomputer to run decently. The stylization will also help them age well. Photorealistic graphics tend to age very poorly as technology progresses.
People need to remember that not everyone has the cash to upgrade to the latest and greatest hardware every year. I'm sure TOR will have plenty of bells & whistles for those who do to take advantage of.
The graphics are fine. I just hope the game is enjoyable.
Ok, it seems some people misunderstood me. I'm not talking about the graphics but mostly about the animations and models which are terribad imo. This is a game breaking for me cause I just can't stand looking at my char like a cartoon holding a lightsaber.
i really hope the character model can be somewhat similar to FFXIV/ APB or even Kotor/Jedi Knight style
i can't help but think "jezz, they look like SW clone war with weird nose. especially the fat guy"
but i am gonna play it anyway. lol
the gameplay has to be the saving grace. currently it's not looking good, but they still have a year to make it visceral and fun. my biggest worry is a big part of the fanbase is so rabid they'll defend the gameplay even if it's crap until it hits them in the face... and by then it will be too late for bioware to do something about it.
this is of course formed from watching actual gameplay videos and from opinions of people who've played it - i haven't tried it myself yet. the actual gameplay just doesn't look or sound anywhere near as good as i had hoped.
