LFG Castle

Are there any games where you have to defend a gild castle or something like that. Like being inside and protecting it from invaders. Not a strategy but an mmorpg. I think that would be an amazing game featre

Warhammer did this....poorly.  Aion tried also, also poorly.  Age of Conan is confusing as to whether or not it actually has this, but I think the answer is probably no as well.  Sorry,  gonna have to keep hoping.

Lineage 2 has this. It was amazing, defending a castle with 200 people vs 200 people. It still happens, just not as big of seiges as it used to have.

Darkfall has this. Guilds own cities and have to defend their city when challenged at a certain time.

Shadowbane has this. But does Shadowbane still have a player base? Or an IP Address for that matter.

Darkfall seems to be the game I have been looking at. This is another push towards me purchasing it =p

I mean, Darkfall does have this, but I tried the trial and the game is nearly unplayable IMO just because I need a certain level of polish to play a game.  If it improves in five years, great, I'll give it a whirl, but right now Darkfall is still nearly unplayable.  Same with Mortal Online and all the indy games other than EVE which is no longer able to be considered indy.

I would have been saying the same thing if I only tried the trial because I probably would not have purchased it. I played out my first month to get my monies worth and hated it but it turned out to be the funnest PVP game that I have ever come across and I have been gaming pretty hardcore since atari . .. hehe

16 months in now and I do not see myself ever leaving. I am almost positive that I will play Guildwars 2 on the side though and maybe some EVE and FPS games or console games but when I think of the most epic experience I think of Darkfall.

TheHatter is going to jump me for pitching it, yet again, but Wurm Online has really interesting siege-play, although it does require you treat the game like a second job in order to stick around and catch them. People tend to raid at off hours in the hopes nobody is there to defend it.

As an idea to what goes on, the game has terraforming and all sorts of building/crafting you can mess with, and the usual defense on the PvP server requires very high dirt walls (you flatten dirt up extremely high), and then you line the edges with walls. Players cannot climb and bash it at the same time, but you can easily catapult them down. Catapults have to be made on the spot, so as long as players bring a rope and some nails with them, they can hatchet down some trees and prepare one for siege on the spot. Once the walls are down, all hell breaks loose and the players rush inside in an attempt to rob the center token for the upkeep the owners put into it. During this time the attackers have to fend off NPC guards and work their way through whatever creative mazes might be there. Doors getting picked or bashed down as everyone works towards the center.

If anyone is there to defend it, they can repair all the walls as they get sieged, as well as make rushes out to meet the attackers. If they have a large supply of gear stashed inside, they can respawn at the center and try again as well, though dying in PvP makes you lose an 'affinity' that lets a certain skill gain faster during use. Good PvPers collect them like pogs, and if you lose one, you just get another random on after a set time.

I've seen some amazing marvels in the form of fortresses, even built one myself, but we got sieged long before the walls got up fully, and they just started coming too often to build the damn thing. We had to walk. Ended up joining another village that was built out in the middle of the ocean (damn near impenetrable since catapults don't reach), but ended up going to the PvE server after it became a hassle and stopped being fun anymorre. You gotta be hardcore to PvP in that game, but I get way more out of the construction aspects, and was much happier in carebearland where my works can't be messed up (for the most part).

I don't even play it anymore, but it will always remain in a soft spot of mine alongside SWG.

In Ragnarok they call it Emperium wars. One of the best castle siege I have ever played.
