So I found my dream game for reals this time, and I know it's gonna be exactly what I want in a game. Don't bother trying to tell me I'm settin myself up for disappointment cause I'm not an optimist. I'm actuallly a pessimist, and extremely ocd. And I've done a shitload of research into this game and I KNOW it is going to be PERFECT. Literally.
But it's not out yet...
So yeah I need something to play that's similar to Tera until it comes out :P
I've already tried and didn't like:
Fallen Earth, Mortal Online, Dungeons and Dragons online, and Age of Conan.
I've tried, but couldn't get into:
Darkfall, Xsyon
Darkfall's ui is just simply impossible for me to deal with (unless there's a mod someone knows of to fix it?). As for Xsyon- well it's still too early to write that one off just yet, but no means playable yet either. 2d rotating grass that is way too noticably 2d rotating grass, non functioning combat controlls, glitchy animations, and poorly drawn shadows are expectable things in a pre release phase, I suppose, as that's just a fancy term for paid open beta imo, so we'll see...
I've also heard of Return Of Warrior but it's got ui clunkiness problems of its own, but worse graphics than Darkfall, so I did not try it.
Didn't like Fallen Earth mainy because it's not fantasy (but I decided to give it a rather too lenghty shot anyway). The whole game is the same blah terrain, there's hardly any water or trees anywhere, (the little water there is you can't even get in at all), and the colors in the game were so dull it was practically in black and white, which didn't help the blah terrain much. Plus you can't shoot something from above, like out a window or something! It hits them, and you can even knock them down, but they never take damage.
I Liked Mortal Online durring beta, purely for looks, but when they patched it for release they ruined it somehow, cause the graphics look so low tech now... plus they lied a lot about the way the game really works. Gear isn't what makes you strong at all it's those stupid little books you can't get because of all the pickpockets... but then again I thought I read they took out pickpocketing... I'll have to recheck... that's not my only complaint though. The magic, last I knew, was auto aimed, which is total bs, and the stupid horses do more damage than players do, just by running into you... last I knew anyway. Plus the idea of having ai controlled pets in an aim based game doesn't sit too well with me... doesn't that in some sense defeat the purpose a little? If not, the auto aimed magic certainly does.
I thought Dungeons and Dragons online was going to hold my attention, but they have a miss roll. That's right, fully aim based combat, but with a miss roll... wtf? "Although your sword sliced through the goblin's face, since these dice landed this way we're gonna pretend we didn't see."
Didn't like Age of Conan because tbh it's not actually aim based at all, you just simply auto target to what you're aiming at... and that system doesn't realy work too well... in fact I think you can even disable it or something. But that definately does defeat the purpose of wanting an aim based game...
But anyway, if anyone knows of any games, other than the ones above, only criteria I'm looking for is that it's fully aim based, and there are no "fine print" things that make it not aim based.
Graphics aren't a big deal AS LONG AS the graphics cut is ONLY texture/mesh quality level. I will not stand for poor/no animations. If I have 2 legs, and I'm moving forward, my feet need to be moving. If an animal is attacking me, they need to be biting/clawing at me.
