Hello folks.
Im looking for a game that will infact be a new game, everytime i enter a game i know even before i make my char, whats gonna happend how i will progress and what the catch is, its allways the same game just another name some new shiny looks and maybe 1 new thing added to a game that has been made 1000 times over!
im looking for a game that is not like 99% of the current mmorpg's. i dont wanna pick up a sword and start as lvl 1 knowing i will need to do quests or grind in order to achive a higher level so i can get more spells / skills so i can start to pve/pvp in a more challanging way blah blah u get what i mean i hope.
said really simple ... im looking for something NEW!
is there any game like that? or is it all just clones of eachother ?
edit: might list what i allready played apart from the original mmo's.
Eve online - Imo one of the best games ever made, and yet i still dont play it because i dont have the pations hands down to the game tho! i think since 2004 or 2005 dont remember.. anyway tryed to resup like 7 times just hoping i would enjoy the game!
Global agenda - quite fun game, just cba to play at least 4 hours at set hours time (everyday) duo to teritory, and steam rolling 80% of your matches is both boring for you and your enemy. with that said then i do spend a shit load of time playing
APB - Great game imo! lack content big time tho one thing i dislike about it is that it forces random people against eachother, that resault in hardcore exsperianced players vs newcommers. and yet again its not to fun for eitherone.
i might also add that im a pvp player.

Try Eve Online. It's not new, but it's different from the other 1000 MMORPG's.
"EVE is likely the best MMORPG that you've never really understood or played" - Kyleran
I Personally Like DDO, from the aspect that the gameplay has to do with where you position ur self, and it isn't the same type of games as the other MMOs, and the group system seems to work out well, very different version of the typical WOW clone.
and it follows the D&D rules so that just makes it much more fun for me.
Yep Eve Online would be the "new" or different. But, a lot about what you don't want in that post. How about details on what you do want?
You've got Farmville on the left and WoW on the right. Both online games epitomize the genres. What is your favorite single player game?

i might sound a bit like an ass here, and if so then im sorry
but let me guess ... you start as lvl 1, with either a melee class (sword / knife / staff / whatever) or "mage" class. u get some quests or do some instances or something alike, u advance in level and gain more skills / spells ... then the fighting is targeting your enemy with the mouse and press 1-2-3-4 and so on
am i close ?
good question! a really good one. what do i want? i think the reason i didnt write anything was because i was hoping for someone to suprise me.
i will keep this very limited... i want pvp and hmm, thats more or less the only thing i really want oh yeah and i want action.
im a all around gamer, i enjoy racing games, fps games, rpg games, rts games (to a limit) dont think i forgot anything.
my fav single player game, ufff its ages since i played a single player game.... hmm.... AH ye! my fav single player game is devil may cry 4 without doubt!
You’ve got this tomorrow: http://www.xbox.com/en-US/games/h/haloreach/
Age of Conan on the Cimmeria server but mostly it’s the grab your sword fare you mentioned against. PvP still works for me on Conq with 2Hander.
You’ve got ship PvP here: http://global.netmarble.com/uwo graphically inferior and more Saturday Morning Cartoon (the 11AM ones) than other games, but appears to have depth.
Vindictus is coming around but know little about it. DC Universe in a month or so, but I know less about that than I do about Guild Wars 3... For some reason SOE has been mysterious with how you actually play the game.
Lego Universe? http://universe.lego.com/en-us/splash/default.aspx
Forza 3 has excellent competition for PvP not the head lacerating kind though.
i edited my above post, seems like i did it while u where writing i forgot to answer a question of your's
and btw ty for that lego thing made my day! ^^ but ey i asked for it didnt i ?
That guy never responded to you about DDO. The combat is similar, yet different. You have to click to attack and block. It requires active moving, defending, and blocking. You don't just stand still and press 1,2,3,4. However, you do get new skills as you level and it is magic/sword based. The combat is very similar to AOC.
Two other games that might be worth a shot to you, depending on your likes:
Megaten - http://megaten.aeriagames.com (anime sci-fi, tuturisitc...capture demon)
Mabinogi - http://mabinogi.nexon.net/ (anime fantasy)
Both have a similar sort of combat about them. It's like rock, paper, scissors. You click to attack, and press the number keys to initiate different sequences (Attack, Guard, Counter Attack, Dodge, Rush Attack.....etc, etc) You really have to pay attention. If a mob casts a spell you need to stop what your doing and activate Dodge. One spell can take over half your life. Knowing when to attack and guard is equally important. Megaten offers WASD movement, Mabinogi does not. Megaten is more about capturing demons and fighting in dungeons, Mabinogi is a little more social...lots of crafting mini-games, gathering, fishing, etc. Both games spawn random dungeons. Somewhat bland looking, but the layout is never the same.
If you just have to play something now, I would suggest trying out one of the free ones until something better comes along later this year or next year (DDO, Megaten, Mabinogi.)
Well I'm in the same boat as you. There are a few new games that I want to try out but have yet to be released, namely Vind, Firefall, Brink, GW2. But the one I'm really waiting on that looks to have what your seeking (collision detection, manual aim) is this. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=2P00IGjPvL0
anyway good luck on your search.
Velika: City of Wheels: Among the mortal races, the humans were the only one that never built cities or great empires; a curse laid upon them by their creator, Gidd, forced them to wander as nomads for twenty centuries...
Yep, yep!
As the other posters mentioned DDO has pretty good combat, more active less 1+1+2+2+3+Alt minus 9... extract the four... *ummm*
There is some fun to be had in DDO - don't know about the PvP, good exploration, achievement type stuff certainly.
Eh... just get into Eve Online climb over the learning curve. A couple devoted weeks and it's nothing.
Join a small bastard merc corp in 0.0, cut your teeth and lose some ISK. It's a satisfying game competition wise. With a 2-year old, and friends not playing anymore I've been /cancelled for awhile. But, there were some definitive glory moments on Tranq.
Time to plug Wurm

Combat and animations are poor, but the entire game world is terraformable and mutable. You can dig out an immense mine into a dwarven-style fortress, build towns, landscape everything around you to your liking... tons of things. I spent a good 2 years playing it, and I still get the notion of returning to it every now and then. There's an infinite free trial server called Golden Valley where you can play as long as you want without dropping a dime, but to get more 'protection' from others via deeds, build advanced stone structures and boats, as well as severely reduced decay on buildings and objects, you gotta go to a premium server that costs 5e a month (with additional fees if you are deeded or buy things from other players).

No actually. Combat is manually aimed and blows/spells thrown with a mouseclick. It's a lot like an action game to that extent, and really worth a try simply for the combat and amazing dungeon play. There is also collsion on players/enemies, so you can have a tank shieldblock a doorway while a mage throws an AoE cone of cold/fire through it, torching everything on the other side. Very tactical stuff, and lots of awesome traps in each dungeon that requires platforming to get past, or a rogue-class to disarm.

Looking at the other games you mentioned, try Fallen Earth, heck it's only 6 bucks at direct2drive (till wednesday)
The game Love is definitey different.
Drop the next-gen marketing and people will argue if the game itself has merit.
Yea it is a sword/Magic fantasy game. But it isn't the spam one hot button, a lot of it is moving with a target, positioning, and action/adventure styl swinging your sword. There is multi classing so u can put any combo you want together, I'd research first to see what works best together or ask me.
On the magic side you actualy have to aim your spells and if the target is moving you can miss and hit the ground or another mob if ur lucky. It also doesn;t have HP/Mana regen so its a little bit mroe complex from the aspect of using the shrines to restore HP/Mana similar to D&D paper.
Oh and its free to play, atleast lower lvl is. more and more content is restricted as you go up in level, But the 15 a month is totally worth all the hours I've spent on it. I'd say download it and try, whats the harm its free, and if you want a lvling buddy PM me I'm always willing to roll a lowbie to play with folks.
Oh and to respond to the Fallen earth idea. DDO is just like Fallen earth in the targeting, but for some reason fallen earth to me was very "clunky" in game play. DDO feels very smooth.
Because it's open world w/ tons of roaming objects and simulataneous players going nuts. The server timings are off comparably to an instanced game like DDO/Vindictus, where only the party you are in is tracked.

There is nothing else out there like Darkfall.
FFA PVP with full-loot and sieges fought over player-holdings (cities/hamlets/villages of player homes) that may bring naval combat, mounted combat, and warfare with weapons of mass desctruction (flame-throwers, tank-like thingies, cannons, etc.). This is the only MMORPG where I feel that I need the sound while I play and its the only game that gives me a wicked adrenaline rush from the fast-paced combat along with the risk you take with everything that you do. This is considered to be the most hardcore PVP game out there right now even though the PVP is not that often at all. Because of the full-loot you are constantly having to earn money to replace what you use or lose during combat so in a way the grind never ends like it does in most games (but in most games you do not drop everything that you are carrying if you die).
Better than EVE imo because you control a person (not a spaceship) in mostly 1st person view in a very realistic atmosphere when compared to other MMOs. Also, there is no 0.0 space to hide in. In Darkfall, no matter where a person lives, you can find a way to kill them and take their stuff. Cannot even compare the gameplay since they are so different though. EVE has things to offer that Darkfall doesn't.
Better than Global Agenda imo because you are not stuck to a cookie-cutter build and can change your play-style whenever you want without having to reroll and repeat the grind. GA is heavily instances without enough maps or types of competition to keep people interested imo. You are either healing friends, healing your robots, taking out enemy turrets, sniping out people (which usually does no good for your team unless you are godlike at it), or spamming AOEs at the red/blue circle that people are suppose to stand in . .. I play this game and enjoy it sometimes but I must admit that as a FPS the physics are not nearly as fun as many other FPS along with Darkfall. Darkfall Online has physics that remind me of Wolfenstein - Emeny Territory because it is very fast-paced and nothing else out there can match the bunny-hopping in Darkfall (and there are no invisible walls in the biggest seamless no-instanced map in existence . .. with no level restrictions so its open world to everyone).
Is APB still a buggy with floating items and stuff? I think that Darkfall is better because the combat is funner and you can get involved in battles with hundreds of other players on your screen . .. feels pretty epic at times. Both APB and Darkfall could use more content. When I look at videos of APB on youtube they seem to make the game look funner than it actually is but it is kind of the opposite with Darkfall. Darkfall videos all look pretty terrible compared to how it feels while you are playing. Darkfall's PVP has a lot more meaning (you can take peoples gear, boats, and/or cities) and again it has the potential to bring you a very epic once-in-a-lifetime battle along with an intense adrenaline rush.

About wurm online, took me quite some while to finally get the game to start after reading forums and so on, and then when i finally started it i saw my textures was all smashed duo to catalyst driver x.x i had and it just stopped for me there, i have had enough trouble to get even to that point
darkfall... i see there is a 14 days trial so im gonna jump into it and see what its like. i doubt it will keep me for more then the 14 days, but we will see.
thanks for all the helpfull post's and keep em comming
edit: darkfall uff, not my thing! it is not 100% like any other mmo but still close. i picked up a sword, found and npc in my starting town got a quest to find 5 goblin axe's and return them, the aiming was quite fun tho and i liked that i lost everything when i died. thats the only 2 good things about the game as far as i saw the 30 min i played it
