Moving the map around?

When you open up the full-screen map, is there any way to drag it around at all?

One the biggest issues with the game it doesn't tell you can move the map around with the IJKL keys.

They are adding a mouse drag to it later... not sure it's the NOV or DEC update, but it's coming.

IJKL moves the map. You can't scroll or grab and drag with the mouse.

I'd highly suggest you invest in some type of gamepad if you want to play this game. They should just include one with the box. I played XI for four years with keyboard and mouse, and found it to be fine. I tried in XIV, and it makes me want to punch babies.

dont know when, but thay are planing on making it so that you can use the mouse later on to grab and dragg the mapp:)

It is uncool. I'd rather play guitar and put my hair on my forehead than read a lame manual.

Yup IJKL keys move map. but they did say they will add it so you can with mouse also. an controller does this also for PC. IJKL move maps an helps you fly helicopters in bf bad company 2 also. its a standard secondary to WASD in lots of PC games but now looks like we are gonna have to add a mouse function too. i don't have problem with it adding more an more an more an more :D. more options more fun.

Having to read a manual for something as basic and - in most any other game, completely intuitive - as moving a map around should not be necessary. It's just one example of how unintuitive and clunky SE designed FFXIV's interface to be. It's also just one example of why they are now offering 30 days for free as an apology for the state they allowed the game overall to be released in.

Kinda hard to argue that the game has a mountain of design issues and oversights when SE themself are fessing up to it.

Sure you can "take the time to read the manual and learn that IJKL moves the map". The point is, in a well-designed, intuitive interface... you shouldn't *have* to.

Well I'm not one of those people.

Anyway, yea the lodestone website has it...but that isn't where most people are going to look, and shouldn't have too.

You know 1st place I would look for the controls would be in the paper maunal that comes with the game...

It says IJKL moves the camera... no mention of the map.

So you can't blame people for not knowing it....

Well i didn't have to read it wasn't hard to figure out at all  but for the ones having problems there always is the manual.

I will not deny that the Interface has its flaws but saying that IJKL movement for map (or just the right control stick for a gamepad) is bad is just bullshit only because its different than in other games doesn't mean its bad geez all the time ppls say they want something different not just another clone and as soon as it comes they al cry why its not the same old shit they r used to by now...

Again i am not saying the Interface is good but the map is just fine and there really is no reason to complain about it none whats however get over yourselves and dont just hate everything just because hating the game is the Flavor of the months and if u really personally believe that IJKL movement for the map is such a huge thing u mind wanna rethink your priority's

The 30 days extension sure is meant to help keeping players in the game however it cant be denied that SE takes responsibility and gets shit done but i am sure u guys somehow will manage to twist it into something pure bad again and everyone not thinking the exact same is just a fanboy again.....

I am sorry if i gave the impression that i blame ppls for not knowing it(only blame ppls who claim u cant move the map at all only course they didn't bother reading the online manual) i just meant to point out that u cant blame SE either for not telling u since they do.

However i agree a normal Key mapping picture in the paper manual would have been the right thing to do.

SE may as well not tell us. It should not be a pre-requesite to read an online manual for a game when it contains one in the box.

I'm afraid that I agree that you shouldn't have to go online to figure out how to use the controls when you have a manual that comes with the product.

I didn't even know about the site until I started doing searches for answers to basic questions.

While i agree with u to some degree finding the site shouldnt proof any problem at all since the Link always pops and that rather large when u log into the game.
