pet classes?

I am looking through the classes, but maybe there are rumors I haven't heard yet. But are there mage pet classes? or classes like the wow's druid to shapechange?

Each Calling has at least one pet class. For the mages, there is the elementalist and the necromancer. By shapechanging you mean an ability of a class that changes the complete visual of the character, e.g. from human to bear? I have not seen that so far, but there are still some classes to come.

Warrior Calling

• 
  Beastmaster

Cleric Calling

• 
  Druid
  
   

Mage Calling

• 
  Elementalist and possibly Necromancer
  
   

Rogue Calling

• 
  Ranger

 

No shape changers have been announced yet. Theres still another 16 classes to officially be shown though.

Necromancer is 100% confirmed pet class.

I'm wondering if the necro will have the following though :-

1. 
   A permanent pet (bit like unholy deathknights in wow)
2. 
   The ability to summon a temporary miniature undead army (like the necro in diablo 2)
3. 
   Be able to raise fallen comrades after they bite the dust
4. 
   Have a permanent pet plus summoned temporary pets

There are probably loads more questions that need asking, can't wait to see what they come up with

Not to be too contradictory but no one on the official forums has come forth and verified this class exists. I believe it does. But no dev, or anyone in authority has mentioned this class yet. I have looked through all the class forums and no one personally had any direct knowledge of this class.

The info is taken from the alpha version that has been shown on gamescom, afaik.

Nothing has been said by anybody who attended Gamescon or Pax on the forums directly about the Necromancer, just stories like somebody told somebody who told somebody there was a necro class.

Nothing has been previously said on these forums, no. Fortunately these aren't the only "non-alpha" forums for Rift.
