I was a member of Global Agenda Alpha, and LOVED IT. The game they promised... hell even the game they HAD was better than their rushed shoddy release. I seriously hope that with their money from GA that they take a LONG time to develop and master this game and give it full content before they release it. Fingers crossed!

I'd rather they put all their effort into Global Agenda (Which in my opinion is still only half-done), instead of taking this on (However cool a Tribes MMO is).
Hm, I'm putting my money on Firefall though.
They're doing the Tribes thing because of what they promised for GA. They couldn't deliver in using the GA code so they're doing Tribes. I think it's good that they simply admitted what they knew...GA wouldn't scale to large battles. I can imagine a lot of companies trying to shoe horn a feature that wouldn't work well in there anyway.
I'm looking forward to more development on GA, and to the Tribes thing. It'll be interesting to see what actually focusing on a game's strong points does instead of throwing everything you can into a game.

I'm kinda perplexed about this, it seems like they were a little short sighted. But Yes, I hope they nail this. I was definitely happy with the way GA played and looked. It was just light on the MMO for me, which as OP noted, they never really promised it would be full on MMO-style.

It doesn't surprise me that they went back through the million plus lines of code and figured out that the Warzones wouldn't work right or as good as they wanted. Nobody remembers exactly what chunks of code do what, that's why they have to have good documentation, which have you to research to really find out what's going on.
What is a little surprising is that they simply admitted it. I could see most companies giving a BS reason for nixing the Warzone in GA, or just not saying anything at all about it, or shoving it in there regardless of how well it worked so they could collect money for the "Warzone Expansion!(tm)".

That makes sense. You obviously know more about programming than me. That actually makes me hopeful. This transparency with their history of regularly polling players makes me think they will really make a game with mass appeal, rather than most MMO Devs that seem to bow to vague trends or vocal minorities.

I know diddly about writing games, especially MMO games. I do know about writing business software and how it can get out of hand pretty quickly. But you're right, it's much more the transparency in how they handled it than anything else. It doesn't hurt the the GA community isn't the usual hate fest on the forums too. They must be doing something right.
None of that means it'll be a good game, or that GA won't turn into junk in the future, but my experience with the game and the company has been good.

Lets hope. To live up to the name of Planetside and Tribes (I'm referring to both in their glory days) is quite the task.

Tribes should have been the FIRST 3d MMO anyone ever made in my opinion. I wore my keyboard down to a tiny little nub playing those games. My mouse button from those days looks like a lunar asteroid crater from banging on it for hours on end. I can't wait to see what these come up with. There is a lot of awesome ideas already in the original games and their mods so it shouldn't be that hard to find inspiration.

I just Hope it Stays true to Starsiege lore. I also hope they don't leave Cybrids out of the game. (in my opinion SS was better than TRIBES)

Well they just released a notice that a game before TO comes out called Tribes: Ascend
Looks like they want to steal from Halo, and guess what.. XBOX Console game..
HOORAY TRIBES IS DOOMED ALREADY.
I think with this announcement, every pc gamer fan is lost, as i am.. good luck boys.. this one is for the trash too
