Just having random thoughts pass through my head especially after the recent threads about survival shelters, and 1 way tickets to mars. I always wonder why. The Main reason and the biggest obsticle i always hear is "we cant afford that".
So sitting here just screwing around with the problem i came up with this.
if just the amount of members registered on this site ---- 1,274,289 were to spend 2 $ a day ( thats less than most of us pay for TV) this would give any efficent private sector company a 930,230,970 $ budget per year Now think of what you could accomplish with a budget like that. to put in perspective nasas anual budget is roughly 8 billion. With just 1 million people we have funded almost 1 billion with less than most spend for tv.
Now if you think about how many people are in this world. over 6 and a half BILLION. In just the US we have over 300 million people.
So please someone explain to me why we are stuck on this insignificant little planet? Its obviousley not money. The next reason is we dont have the tech to do it or we need more testing etc. i say WTF? we designed , built, and sent people to the moon in less than a decade. The ship they used had a computer thats so primitive it wouldnt run an atari game. So i ask again WTF!! WE definately have the technical ability RIGHT now to send people to mars and set up shop and the only way were going to learn more is to go there. Theres only so much you can gleen from robots and satelites.
When is the world going to wake up and see that if we truly want to survive as a species we need to get the fok off this rock.
SO the question is would you if it got you some kind or knotice or not. Say if you were guarnteed the first choice of a seat when they became feasable for tourism. I dont know even if all it got you would a little mention in the credits. would you donate 2$ a day or hell even 1$ a day to a public company with full disclosure on what the money was spent on and exactly how it was spent. Whos sole purpose was to colonize the solar system and beyond?
O i forgot the options are $ per day

2$ a day is 700$ a year, which is a lot. I wouldn't pay that much for health care reform.

Yeah, 700$ a year so expensive.
im guessing you dont drink starbucks regularly? or buy coffe anywhere? Or how about your internet connection? yep 60$ a month is SOO expencive yet instead of spending it on something useful that would benefit the human race most would rather spend 5 tiems that on lates from starbucks every day. Makes perfect sense to me.
What i dont get is why the general populace dosnt understand why most of them are obese, i would say 90% or more of the world population would die if you were to drop them off out in the woods for a week by themselves with no conviences. Hell just take away the power in the US for a week and you would have mass fat people out in force bitching about not being able to watch oprah, or DR Phil every day.
The human race is doomed as a civilization.
