i hear alot of nice stuff about guild wars 2.. alot of stuff that devs have said that will be in the game. small little things and bigger things ... unfortunately i played AoC before setting my eyes on this game and few years back i was hearing alot of cool stuff about AoC before it launched... small little things and bigger things.. and i was impressed and thrilled. until funcom took back its words about lot of stuff and when i was finally playing the game itself i felt that i got totally dicked with some things that was promised.
i know that we aint talking about funcom here, but instead of getting high hopes and see sweet dreams every night about GW2 rocking my socks, im planning to take it slower now and just wait for the actual delivery
unfortunately lot of things happen in games, people have to remember that gaming industry is business just like everything else and sometimes people have to make hard decisions when it comes to the product. that being said, im happy to hear that NCsoft lets arenanet take their sweet time with the game and that Anet is being trusted by investors. thats something that doesnt seem to happen alot in this field of industry.
now... let me go back to get some coffee with hazelnut coffeemate and go search for some more info about the game that i have been itching to play for a while now...
Definitly concepts and game mechanism, and mainly:
- The questing concept, its like since Uo we wait for a dynamic questing and event mechanism to replace the good old Game master, not the usuall mmo Gm that is taking care of craps ingame, but the real Game master, whih mean master for the game as in pen & paper.
- Pve/pvp build with this separated rules for both, with leveling down characters advancement, at last someone is doing this in pvp, thank god it was really being time, and yet keep both world closer than those pvp/pve servers division that in fact create more problems than resolve them, especially because of population and the feeling to be stuck in a type of game play you might want to change often for your own sanity.
Since i read a bit i'll most definitly follow the development of this game. And i never tryed GW, mostly because i'm not much into all those guild stuff, i'm more about open world/sandbox stuff really, and because without a persistent world its not a mmo for me, and have very little interest to me. So this new version seam to have all new level, thumbs up, and keep up definitly the most promising mmo from the new generation.
Guild Wars was a truly brilliant, game, from what I've read about GW2 so far, Ireally can't wait for this game. The art design looks great, different playable races, the combat physics looks great, but most of all the skill bar limit...oh man that is such a clever idea and i'm glad they haven't changed that. I spent hours on end coming up with my own unique skills sets and I'm really looking forward to this game.
We're all Geniuses. Most of us just don't know it.
GW 1 was my reason because the story was great. Anet will literally "put the RPG back into mmoRpg" with Guild Wars 2. Story will be forced upon you through dialogue so you dont have to read text. This is definitely an anti-grind game by far (sure you can grind if you want but you really don't have to).
I remember playing WoW and other MMO's against ranged type foes. I tried dodging their projectile attack by moving my character but the objects kept chasing me and hit me. In GW1 or GW2 I can actually dodge arrows by kiting or dodge a massive AoE spell without getting hurt. Point is the combat is gonna be more realistic and challenging.
No subscription fee is icing on the cake. The real core of the game is the gameplay and the lore. If you have played Guild Wars 1 all the way through odds are you know a little bit about the story. When I played WoW, or Aion I felt like I didn't care what the story was and that is not an RPG. MMORPGs have story otherwise its just an "MMO leveling grind game".

I certainly don't blame you for taking it slow and not counting too much on the hype until it releases. So far so good though as the playable demo has shown that a lot of the innovative changes they have promised are currently functional. Anyways your outlook is better than taking everything a developer says as gospel, but with my experience with Anet your expectations are in good hands.

Guild Wars is my favourite game of all time that's why I'am obviousely waiting for Guild Wars 2.
I always loved art design ingame and gameplay in GW was extremely good.

-I am here to perform logic
I have never played Guild Wars and what made me interested in Guild Wars 2 are the story and graphics....
