no more early pvp?

i was yackin with a bunch of friends, we were on the discussion of mmos and pvp.. Anyhoo long story short i was told there was PVP in whitesands, and underhall or w/e its called... downloaded, installed.. patched.. leveld up a bit, was invited 2 a guild, and started asking about white sands pvp... they said it was removed last patch.... in both places..

so the only way a low level can pvp, is via the pvp "mini"s, so i go too fire that up... 1 person out of 18or20 w/e was registered for the event...

*clicking uninstall*

Seems like there really isnt much out there mmo wise these days.... worth paying money for, or even trying for that matter..

so all in all you are crying that you will be forced to pvp against people of similair skill and gear as you.  And people who know that pvp is about to happen, and that you won't get to gank lower levels than you.

    Grow up.

You might be jaded because of the twinks that used to be there but that is hardly any reason to be rude to someone just trying the game out. I thin kthat perhaps you should take some of your own advice and also learn to read.

I often consider resubbing to AoC but this change is just one more reason not IMO. It used to be fun hunting down the twinks on fresh toons.

Removal of PvP in Tortage experience is just another knee-jerk action, that FC just loves to do.

There could've been several other ways to reduce the amount of lvl 25's killing their precious 3 trial players, who by the way, should've rolled on a PvE server if they can't handle being killed. What happens now is they'll get farmed by lvl 40 alts in other zones instead, after that the next zone and so on and so on.

I think the main reason for this change is the fact that some people are unable to realise they belong in a PvE server, where they can "pick" their fights. Instead we have a bunch (small one) who go all emo for being killed in WS, even though they don't even need to enter PvP areas to lvl to 25 these days.

This action just further promotes the fact that Craig "PvE First" Morrison is complete rubbish and has no clue at all what it means to be in CONAN GAME.

The only way you'd want to play or sub to AoC is if you enjoy sub-par encounters, bugged mobs, only like to raid rubbish content, like to see total gating of content (T4 has been in-game forever, everything was just made impossible to defeat). This is what you can expect from AoC. Though, you can even get HORSE RACING, that not even one member in AoC's ever-shrinking playerbase asked for.

Sirillion & Famine "lol dude it's UNIVERSALLY, AGREE TO DISAGREE and FORUMS ONLY HAS FEW PEOPLE POST ON IT!!". I suggest every human being to avoid every single product FunCom ever makes seeing how this "promise the moon, deliver a dog-eaten shoe, that no one asked for" - plan they do.

You do understand that the Conan books by REH are nothing like the world Pvp set up in AoC right?  Way too many examples of Conan talking first (or only for that matter).  You won't really find too many examples of Conan or anyone else just walking down the street randomly hacking people up.

That said, I too think removing vice fixing the WS and UH Pvp on Tortage was not the way to go.

    SWG (pre-cu) - AoC (pre-f2p) - PotBS (pre-boarder) - DDO - LotRO (pre-f2p) - STO (pre-f2p) - GnH (beta tester) - SWTOR - Neverwinter

been there, for pvpers, the damage is done.

wasnt so much of the  loss of pvp in WS and UH, but the knee jerking followed by the accumulation ninja patching, canned responses, and glaring lack of confidence in their own game being "brutal", yet one would find more brutality playing a session of maple story.

some months back i said AOC has ran its course as a relevant progressing game, things like this, do not go away, and it will carry over to any other games funcom makes.

Only thing AOC has left now to stay afloat would be the pve crowd,  the rp crowd i dont even know if they exist anymore either. i dont blame them if they have already packed up and left months ago, at least they ended their suffering far quicker than what the pvp went through.

12 v 12 pug minis are being introduced,  thats it.

    Hahahahaha@more brutality in Maple Story.

I was one of the headstart and beta people...I stuck with the game for a while. It was very frustrating (I won't rehash the broken promises/technical issues/etc crap).

It is a shame because Funcom  has the framework for a far more impressive game. Many of the zones are too linear and small. The way we THOUGHT the sieges and pvp would be was what attracted my guild to the game. It is too bad that they do not have more confidence and are incapable of thinking outside of the box.

Pvp = yay, let's play a mining simulator and replicate the joy of breaking rocks! It is as appealing as a coal miner coming home from a shift at work to break coal in a video game for 8 hours.

They need to have a real dynamic in PvP that encourages (allows) teamwork rather than steamrolling and teabagging. Think DAOC, maybe, with factions? They had that faction server but it was announced and tossed-in hours before launch, no one knew it was coming, etc. They murdered themselves on that one (as they seem to do often). If they spent TIME developing factional warfare and had goals that could influence the open world, they might be onto something. This is just a random idea I am throwing out to illustrate how much better and more interesting the game can be. .

I can't wait to harvest pebbles in real time for weeks on end so I can be the most powerful warrior in the land.

I always played a HoX, how are they doing these days?

How many times do I have to repeat myself? PVP game requires constant developing of challenging situations that encourage players to fight each other. AOC simply does not have the manpower to deal with this challenge after majority has left the game, It is now a very progressive PVE game with some PVP thrown into so PVErs don't get bored.

The whiny PVPers themselves are partially to be blamed for the situation. You cannot develop both aspects of the game (PVP and PVE) without a huge sub numbers. WoWization did it's worst in this aspect to MMO's where people now expect a fully functional MMORPG right out of the shop. (any old MMORPG player will tell you that MMORPG was always a proces and there re very few fuly functional MMO's in the history of this genre that were released with fully working content)

i agree with you totally what your saying, but just because something has become a standard thing, in this case buggy game with no content at launch (or working content as you state)... should it be considered acceptable ? should the customers, us, just accept that as a fact and just expect every mmo be the same way in the beginning ? sure, even for me its understandable and i can live with that but now as i am writing this it just hit me that people wouldnt accept this if we were talking about ANY other product. but for some reason it feels more bearable when its an mmo game ... does anyone else feel the same as i ?

unfortunately people dont want to wait for fully polished mmo because it would probably take so long that duke nukem forever would already have two expansion cds published. i for one, would drastically want bigger world than what mmos nowadays have, and of course ALOT more things to do ... and of course i would love to have everything working just fine when the game goes puplic but i guess it would need too much resources (money) to make.

Well I think that WoW simply set the bar too high. The thing with mmos is that they are extremely complicated and until you test them live you never know what you will get. Even WoW was a buggy mess at start as I hear (US version), but now players suddenly demand a polished, complete game at release. I very much doubt that average teams can achieve that in fact I am willing to bet that only next Blizz MMO have the potential to achieve something like that, mainly due to large number of devs working on a title.

Every new feature has to be thoroughly tested in live environment, that is the case wiht MMOs for ages. I fear that demanding a polished game at launch could hurt the evolution of mmos. A good example for `more of the same` is LOTRo, which indeed launched polished but did not introduce a single new, innovative feature. And if the testing in the live environment was a problem in the past, it is even more so today when games have complex mechanics, high end graphics, etc.

Take a look at AoC. The game had the potential to be on par with WoW if players would have agreed to finance it throughout evolution. This was always the case with MMOs, very few MMOs in history launched polished but every single sucessful title needed to be supported and paid throughout the evolution. One could argue that if AoC would retain 500-600k subs it would now have working sieges, sieging mounts, drunken brawling, towers, arena, many minigame maps and off course as polished PVE content as it has.

WoWization brought this wish for instanteneous pleasure which forces an evolution of the genre that is not needed and is indeed a harmful one.

Hunting down and not asking if interested in PVP! Even on a RP-server ... just more to say to this? I should say even in battle in a game you could have fun when talking with people. Try not to be the silent "killer"! And that is the reason, Funcom did this step and it was right.
