I'd love to see the US get all the jobs especially during these tough times, but It's a catch 22 since not nearly as many people would buy iPhones if they were made(part construction and assembly) in America because the cost would most likely be more than double. The company still provides many US jobs that wouldn't be around if they stopped outsourcing production.
This is true. Apple does have quite a few employees here in the US... I really don't like the idea of cheap labor, go overseas and take advantage of third world people, while at the same time screwing potential employees.
I don't like it, steve jobs and his company are probably more than happy with large annual profits.. Probably in the 100 of millions to billions. Who knows, Could be alot less than I think, but I am sure he is sitting lovely right now. Making huge unnecessary profits at the cost of our country and the exploitation of workers in other countries.
As much as it's terrible, that is how America was made and most likely will stay unless the US really falls in status as a dominant world power. The US is all about captialism and exploiting others to make mass profits. It's what makes America great but at the same time makes it horrible.
When you buy Apple products you pay a substantial premium for brand. Anyone who says otherwise is um... a fanboy.
probably cost them a 1.00 to have made, yet they sell them for 199 - 299... outragous.
I won't buy one of these EVER. I am not a big fan of apple to begin with. THought about maybe getting an iphone if it comes out on verizon, but meh... Probably cost some crazy price and I hear you have to pay for their OS aswell each month.
Anyhow, if I get an mp3 player I will look into other companies. Nothing generic, but something more reasonable.
I have an lg touch chocolate right now and it seems to work just fine as an mp3 player. So , not in the hurry to go out and buy one tbh.

Yeah, I don't own any apple products. I have a Motrola Droid from Verizon and I love it. When I can pick a new phone upgrade I will be getting the new Droid as well. From a business standpoint Apple is very smart and kuddos to them. But I'm not falling for it.

There is always some premium for brand but as far as phones being marked up 2x+(unsubsidized) their construction value, that's not something that only Apple does. All phone companies do that. Paying $200 for a iPhone 4 (and there were specials as low as $50 for Christmas), means your only paying slightly over the $187 they put into the phone, granted AT&T or whoever the carrier pays the rest of the market price. If you are going to say Apple is evil and does all these wrongs you have to say the HTC/Motorola/Almost every large world-wide company are the same or at the very least VERY similar.
Also Apple most likely makes more profits off the iPhone/iPad market place than off the hardware it sells.

I make good money, so I buy Apple products; I didn't until a couple of years ago. Apple invented the modern smart phone (you could say Palm before them, but Apple had the Newton before the Palm came on the scene, I'm sure there was something before that). Apple also invented the modern desktop operating system with the original Macintosh (before Windows, the Mac got most of it’s features from others, like Xerox, but it was the first to pull them all together into a desktop).
If I wanted to save money or had a low-paying job, I wouldn't. I really do wish their stuff was built in the US, but it's not just a comment about Apple, it's the general state of affairs in the US with most business these days. I'd like to see corporations here make a little less at the top so that more could be made at the bottom. I've owned businesses myself and I've put my money where my mouth is and never outsourced anything let alone outsource something overseas. I was pressured to outsource coding projects overseas, but I refused and felt great for not doing it.

So , you pay more money for an underpowered system????? I hope you don't buy apple computers, because if you do than you probably know very little about computers.
Me? I prefer to build my own tbh. I enjoy it, is like a hobby of mine. IF I was going to buy an apple product, it would not be a laptop or computer. I just think there are better options out there.
Well, I guess you could buy a decent system from apple, but it will cost you 1000 dollars more than if you just bought all the parts on your own.
Just seen a 2k dollar system with a 5750????? GPU.. that's ridiculous you should have the best gpu there is in a 2k system.

good for you man same here
As satisfactory as not owning Apple products may seem, you are not really changing anything. Apple is one of millions of companies that use the same practices, including many that I guarantee you buy from. Everything from clothes to house-hold items to gas/oil all support the same practices that Apple use. I'm not supporting what they do but you can't avoid it. If you want to pick one company to be angry at and not buy their products so you feel better, more power to you. I don't own any Apple products at all but Apple (or any big, bad company) hating is really only giving you something to take up your time with. (Not to offend anyone in this thread, I agree with a majority of your ideas)
Apple has their uses, and most people choose apple because A) they don't know what the hell else is out there Apple products are extremely easy to use and C) Its an Apple product.
People get these ideas in their head that Apple is some kind of status symbol now, or a club to join. My buddy just spent a couple thousand dollars on a Mac, because he and his wife have had the iPhone and ipods forever, and I asked him why he wanted a Mac, and he gave me all these reasons like how powerful they were, or how easy the desktop is to use. I told him about windows 7's options and some of the better linux distributions I know of and how much cheaper they would be for a better system, but it really just culminated in him getting it because he wanted it.
I build my PCs, I own android devices. I do it because they are versatile and well supported, they also come in many varieties, so much so that they can outperform Apple products easily.
On the other hand though, I see why people like apple products, they are simple, they aren't flashy in design, or functionality.
In the end though, Apples head start isn't helping them as android takes off. Androids growth has been doubling Apples over the past few quarters, and as blackberry will be declining, the next largest smartphone won't be dominated by a company that makes hardware, but by an operating system. Android.
Of course he's laughing. He launched a book reader and everyone rushed to buy it. Peoples that never read a book in their life. Actually those who bought the ipad deserve to be laughed at.

so spending $1000 - $1500 for the same specs is good and people love it? ha major fail for someone who build pcs so lame i never expected someone who builds pcs to say that he could build the same system as a computer builder for way way less and say that apple is good

Yes, chineese knockoffs are... bad. Nonetheless, apple products are bad also. I mean for the price you pay you get something which literaly has as much functions as runestone. Its pure fad and vanity item. My nokia n95 which was made like 4 years ago is better than some iPhone versions. BTW your istuff is made in china by people slaving for dollar a day.

I really do think steve jobs is laughing at the fools buying these systems while he rolls around in a bed of 100 dollar bills.
Only thing I can say: Lol, at least it is not my money being wasted. My pc I built cost me less than 1200. It contains an i7 920 @ 4.0 (water-cooled), 6 gigs of ram, Radeon 5850, 2 Monitors, 1TB hdd, and a blue-ray player that I got for cheap. Plus, I have it connected to my 42" HD TV. (For when I am gaming) Sooooo, once again, lol, at least it is not my money being wasted

Adn why does this bother you so much might I ask???? Do you have some type of plan in the works to take "our" money instead and are only prevented from doing so because "steve jobs" has his hand in the cookie jar already?
I myself can't stand apple for alot of the reasons people have stated from the "yuppie" types they tend to represent here in the US to the fact that I see most of the products they make as pointless given that there are always cheaper alternatives (not knock off crap made in china either) such as Android for phones or Nook and Kendal e readers, for the most part all three of those products have equal if not better funcionality than the super expensive apple products.
What I'm not getting here is why you feel the need to ridicule someone because they offered a conflicting opinion on a forum post?
And given that now you are trying to question the inteeligence of someone who can build computers buying apple products what does it say about your own experience level that you would come here advocating something we all know does not turn out right one hundred percent of the times(buying pirated tech from overseas) against something that does?
The problem here is you are basically trying to jump down his throat for being a chef but chosing to take his family out to a nice fancy restaraunt.
but yeah, to call this game Fantastic is like calling Twilight the Godfather of vampire movies....

This thread is bad, specially since it keeps popping up.
Stealing and copying will allways be cheaper, but does that make it better for the people buying illegal copies ??
I dont think so, but hey if you are willing to take the risk when you get illegal copied equipment then by all means, go for it.
Just dont cry if or when you are facing the consequenses.
