    starsider.

Starsider is overpopulated and has stability issues.  I'd recommend Chilastra or Flurry.

Oh geeze. Well it can't be that bad can it? If it still exists and hasnt gone F2P, they're obviously making some sort of money off of it.

Pre-Combat Upgrade and Pre-"New Game Enhancements"

Essentially, the game was completely revamped (twice). They called it enhancements and upgrades but where nothing short of downgrades to make the game more appealing to the teen crowd that can't comprehend a complex game that doesn't involve 1st-person POV rifles or four-button guitars.

Here you'll find a timeline of SWG's "revamps".

Depends on what you look for in a MMO I guess.  It's worth at least trying it though...

As an old SWG player who quit when the NGE hit and went back after a couple of weeks as I was an addict and played for about a year or just under, I decided to try it out again last week out of curiosity.

All I can say is that I have now thrown my rose tinted glasses in the bin as I wont let them fool me anymore. I checked out a few servers which were derelict and the tumbleweeds were abundant until I came across the most populated server being Starsider which was nothing for the SWG community to brag about. Full of macro spammers and a few people hanging around Restuss talking about crap. What a way to waste money.

There are a lot of F2P MMO's out there which are a lot better than SWG which is a shame. I felt sorry for SWG which was once a truly great game let down by $OE and LA.

I have missed SWG a lot but I am not stupid enough to part with my hard earned cash to subscribe to a sub par game so have waited patiently for SW:ToR which is now on the horizon and played better run MMO's until now, none of which I have enjoyed as much as I did SWG but I suppose memories are better than reality when it comes to SWG.

     Incorrect.  Try again :)

    Anyone can see for themselves.

Exactly!  I also recommnend visiting the SWG O-boards - - not only will  that  give prospective players an idea of the true condition of the game and its servers, but they can judge the status of the community. image

    Fully agree!

Next time, before you toss your money away, use the free 14 day trial (link above). That's enough time to get a starting toon off Tattoine and abandon him on Naboo like most others who tried the trial ;)

To be fair, SWG has it's die hards and players who will be there until the bitter end. If this is the game for them, more power to em - nothing wrong with defending and enjoying your game. But again, before tossing money away, I suggest people use the 14 day trial (for ANY game, not just SWG).

As a long time Active player thats been consistantly subscribed since 2003...I'd like to point one thing out.

Macro spamming isn't "new" to the current game.  it was prevalent in 2003 and 2004 and 05.  It never stopped.

The content thats been added since 2005 has been great.  Much more to do in game now than in 2004.

Yes...there are population issues in SW:G.  No one is going to deny that at all.

But it is the only MMO out there that still, to this day; gives it's playerbase the wide variety to make it what they want of it (albiet not as diverse profession wise as pre-06.)

MMO History: 2528 days in SW:G

SWG isn't a bad game now, they improved the game a ton since Nov. 2005. It will never be as good as pre cu, but it is better then a lot of newer games out today imo.

4% is not a resounding endorsement.  SWG:NGE may still be active but it still bleeds lots of subscribers.  In other words, dead it may not be; it is a walking corpse.  Even jedimonkeylizard agrees there are population issues.

So much potential wasted chasing a playerbase that was NEVER going to materialize.   One has to be amazed how Smedley has kept his job after all the blunders.

To the current players...I am glad for you that the game is still enjoyable.  It is something I envy greatly.  Do not take solace in this poll.  It does not give you any positive data concerning the health of the title.

I'm sorry op yea top 5 mmo, with 4% of the vote is nothing to gloat over.  That is still pretty much epic fail.

that is epic success!!!. 9 years old and 5th place.  swg is one of the best games available.

Honestly though 2010 gaming is nothing compared to the quality and quantity that 2011 is putting out, in all facets of gaming, not just MMO.  I'm not sure what happened in 2010, but there was just nothing but a lot of let downs and poor releases with little big titles.  I'm speaking of course in comparison to 2011.  An award like this is like being named captain of the JV team.

well swg still has more features than wow,aion,lotro,everquest2, war,aoc..... and any other themepark mmo.

i used play swg pre cu and its still probably more adavanced in gameplay features than all that other trash.

    so it deserves that spot

What I loved about the NGE, is when it was beta tested by all players, and there were litterally 1000 pages of complaining posts about the change, and yet they still went ahead with it LOL.

You cant find the forum posts now, they changed the website and forum after NGE was released, I mean they wouldnt want a potiental new player to see how the majority of its player base begged SOE not to change the game and were IGNORED lol.

And yay for SW:TOR thats gonna take that 4% vote soo EASILY! soo soo easily away as it might be "WoW with lightsabers" but its going to have full voice acting, storyline and decision making, its going to have what SWG always lacked....

    CONTENT!!!!

P.s. Sorry if i come across as a bitter SWG veteran, cause I AM !
