Everyone is claiming WoW is some what the birth of all RPG and MMORPG. its like saying all car manufacturer copied the 1st car ever invented -steeringwheel, 4 round wheels, 4 doors, hood and boot, etc....ffs stop complaining and play the game if its good, or just go play a board game. every developer has the right to develop the way they want their game to be. it's their game, develop your own if you think you have what it takes to make a new type of MMORPG thats not using any RPG rules or game play. just stop whining like a pup.
Eastern or Western, a game is a game. love it or hate it, your choice.
As for grinding, if you dont enjoy grinding, then just go play a private server that gives you something like Lv100 at start up or just play Sims Online/ Second Life. i promise you... no grinding needed, ever.
No one is claiming that. Maybe you need some perspective. WoW is an EQ clone, and almost every MMO that has come out since WoW has been a WoW clone. No, not because "all MMOs have levels!" but because they try to copy the ease, linearity, game mechanics, goals, and feel of WoW, down to its UI. Maybe you just can't understand because you weren't around when all MMOs were different from one another. You're content with the tiny meaningless differences in games like LotRO or AoC. You think its fine if 96 percent of the game is similar to WoW, because that's the norm, because you weren't around when games were still vastly unique from one another.
It depends what you mean by 'westernization'. I want a game that feels and looks like it has a oriental theme, I only play games with a western look, so for me that will be very new. The idea that the game will be shoe horned into a western look is awful.
Making the classes the same as WoW is not westernization, it is making them like the WoW template, who wants that other than players who can't see past WoW?
For me westernization is all about adding quests, thats where asian MMO's fail. They have said they can do this, but I question that as it is a tall order. Time will tell.

its funny how everyone's definition of westernization is different.

When I hear "Westernization" of an MMO I already roll my eyes.
To me, Aion (for example) looked like it was trying to put cowboy boots on a Japanese Geisha. Just doesn't work.
