I need to cancel my pre-order, help?
Greetings, ive preordered the digital collectors editions from the trion site. I've leveled to 31 and got completely bored of the same things many other MMO these days have that Trion has took changed a few skins and called it rift. Im bored out of my skull and want my 60$ back, are these guys gonna let me cancel and get a refund?

Contacting Trion customer support would seem to be a logical step.
Hate to say this but probably not. I read once before that pre-order can't be cancelled. I'm happy to have gotten it at egames, worst i loose my 5$.
You should have no problem. Just contact CS and they should be able to tell you how. Or maybe a fellow disapointed player will tell you how.
BTW you haven't been charged yet. Only after the game goes live will you be charged.

Maybe if you hadn't taken your turtle mount they would refund you.
And that's why you don't pre-order just to get access to the beta. Also, do your homework on the game next time.

In worst case you might be able to sell it to another player.
But yes, there have been several threads about no refund. Never preorder a MMO ever. Buy the game when it have been out for a week instead, saves you a lot of money in the long run.
level cap is 50, so how at level 31 do you realize that it is the same. At least play at launch and make it to endgame and decide.
If you ordered through trions website all you have to do is call them on the phone and say you want to cancel your preorder. I just did this today.
For all the people saying you cant cancell a proorder its hogwash if you payed full money for a a product and havent recived it you can cancel it and get your money back and if they give you crap about saying you cant do it just tell them its against the law because if you pay for something and you did not recive it you are allowed a refund and can call your bank and have then dispute the charge.

You know, the whole "its beta" and "your only level XX wait untill endgame" argument never pans out. I cant think of a single game that up and changed into a great game at endgame, i cant think of a single game with major balance issues early on, haveing those issues gone at endgame, i cant think of a single example of a buggy beta being polished upon release (not applicable for Rift at least)
The point is, the first 3/5th of the game is a great indication on how the remaining 40% of the game will be.
You can bet your ass that if the first 30 levels of Rift give people that been there done that feeling that the last 20 will do so as well.
We have heard little, if any discussion (please correct me if im wrong) from Trion on Rifts endgame. They are not even hyping it...wonder why? Beta will not cover endgame, just short of it....wonder why? However they are pushing a six month preorder subscription package, at a discount.....i wonder why?
Something is starting to stink regarding endgame with rift. I see the balance issues, but i think there is more to it than that.
We shall see.
I went from about to preorder the game, to waiting untill the last beta, now im definitly waiting a full month after release. Something just isnt right, its a gut feeling. I hope im wrong because there isnt much else in terms of new games comming out anytime soon, none that will be as polished as rift is at least....can you call a game with serious balancing issues polished?
I hope you get your money back, because wasting it on this game would be a shame.

I am not sure if there is a lack of end game or the reasons behind the 6 month push is as you might be suggesting, but I do agree. If you are not liking a game now, I don't see how higher levels are going to suddenly change the game for the OP. It's a clean game, but it would be very unfortunate if there is just a construction sign for end game. If they don't have to spend a year proving to everyone they can fix a game, maybe getting end game up quickly is reasonable. I am not sure. I don't recall seeing a game release cleanly but without the end game and then getting it up quickly. Usually it's no end game and a buggy mess combo.
parrotpholk-Because we all know the miracle patch fairy shows up the night before release and sprinkles magic dust on the server to make it allllll better.
Im not expecting a construction sign at endgame.
Its the way the company is actiong toward it, and the overall....community...of rift....
i keep adding 2+2 in the rift calculator and i keep getting the answer of 3....if that makes sense.
Ive been around the block, seen a lot of betas...something isnt right, mabey ill figure it out tomorrow, or mabey im just sleepy now...who knows.
But yeah i called it here....end game fiasco. That or the community randomly turning sour and cannabalizeing eachother, feasting on the brains of Rift....
Gonna save you the pain of wondering any further. Rift endgame is known only to Trion and the Alpha testers right now, and still under NDA. Nobody outside that group knows anything about it, and nobody in those groups can say anything about it. So just stop wondering why people aren't talking about it, they dont know, or they can't say. Simple enough?
Or you could go on assuming you know something you dont, thats your right I guess. Oh and maybe you should eat something, might help that gut feeling you have.
People have broken the Alpha NDA, if you look, its the internet, I am not gonna link stuff, but I could probably train a monkey to use google to find it!
They state no refund, but they have still been giving people one, last I saw.
I am with Scot on this one, someone dosnt come to these forums and thier overall negativity about all MMoRPGs , and ask about refunds unless they are trying ta fit in wit da kewl kidz here or are trying to start a flame war.
Personally I dont beleive half these ppl have even played at all much less to 30, most of them just want to jump on the band wagon. You can easily tell by level 10 that the game dosnt present anything new and different, if that is in fact what you were hopeing for.

pre order through Steam next time... they refund right up until the game goes live, even with a beta having been played.

What I find funny is that the game supposedly changes at level 50 and the focus becomes PvP and that part isn't part of Beta. Since PvP is where I'd be spending the vast majority of my time, I want to make sure that part works and is fun. It remindes me too much of AoC, where everyone in Beta could test the early levels and found the game great, but no one could test the seige action. Funcom repeatedly said seiges were working fine, PvP was all done, etc. and yet when we got to that part of the game it wasn't done, implemented correctly, and was a total garbage experience. So, I went through all the pain of leveling in that game just to find the endgame a joke.
Because of AoC, I don't bother with Beta events unless they start concentrating on end-game PvP content. Alpha testers be damned. Without a solid Beta test by many independent players, PvP cannot be properly tested. So, I'll sit this game out and in a few months come back and read about the PvP aspects, how they had to nerf 2-3 soul combinations to oblivion because they were overpowered, and people spending time leveling those sould combinations will be screwed and unhappy.
So, in conclusion, I'd like to thank all those who purchase this game and then go beta test the PvP for me while I have fun doing something else. Once the PvP bugs/imbalances get ironed out and many soul combinations get nerfed, I'll then decide if it's worth my time to buy the game (which will probably be on discount by then).
I just can't help but agree since this is what I thought last night when I read this post. It's just silly, no one is dumb enough to not figure out how to get a refund or charge-back and to post on a 3rd party site for assistance?

The attitude "you can only judge how good an mmo is after 100 hours of play", or whatever it takes to get to 50, seems weird to me.
I firmly believe that a game can show its essential philosophy in the first couple of hours. People simply don't have enough time to road test the huge variety of options out there for much longer.
Anyway, it is clear what Rift is. A very polished, pretty creative version of the same formula we have experienced time and time again.
Never pre-order through the games own company. Retailers all offer refunds, like Amazon for example you can't cancel the pre-order, but you can send it back to them when it arrives. Gamestop, just walk in and say not for me, get your deposit back. Bestbuu I know your out of your five bucks, same with Target pre-orders. Not sure about Wallyworld.
