Simple as that.
It's a great sandbox MMO, one massive persistent world, full player loot, aim to shoot, constant element of risk/danger when traversing the open world, deep crafting, beautiful environment... It's great, if the game ran like a $50 game, and not an alpha. If you're on the fence i'd say wait a month (at least) and you can expect (hope) to have most of the glaring performance issues fixed, and you can fully enjoy the game for its features.
There's places around Google you can find it for nearly half Iceberg Interactives asking price (i got mine from gamegears.co.uk for £26.00). Everyone who signed up already with an account has been granted free game time in March any who, so im not feeling 'ripped' off to be honest. I'll just be logging in daily, seeing how/if its improving, and playing when i can. No rush.
All in all, a decent 'sandbox', there's a lot of 'buzz' around Earthrise, good and bad, i expect it to do well in the long-run, just don't expect it to pick up any awards for the next 4-6 months at least, until it reaches its full potential (like any other MMO).
Just my 2 Pence.

I agree with D_Tox
The game is very good, fun, engaging, it needs a month or two of polish and it will be among the top skill based sand-box MMOs.
I agree also. If you purchase the game and enter your key before Feb 11th you get Februaray and March for free. Its almost worth the purchase if your on the fence, even with all the issues.

Well....I could not play the game at all in beta. My character would walk 10 feet then the stuttering and hitching started and my poor computer looked at me angrily, saying "Why are you punishing me with this game!" I am playing with a 2.2ghz core2duo, 8800GT, 4gb ram and xp64....not top of the line, but it just would not run this game. If I could actually play it, I would of bought it, I like the concept and the little bit of time when my screen wasn't stuttering I had some fun. I just can't pay $50 right now in the hopes it will be fixed soon, but good luck to people who bought it, I hope it works out. Will check back later
I agree. All it really needs is some polishing here and there.
It needs to be heavily tweaked to get anywhere enjoyable. The massive grind in this game is even worse then in a korean F2P-MMO.
Additionally, there's mising some recreation-areas where you can do some missions rather safely, with guards being around etc.
Masthead screwed this game up big time imho, especially in the area of massive gear-dependancy and way too dig discrepancies in stats.
It's absolutely laughable what they did there tbh and I can't recommend this game to anyone who isn't allready mentally disordered.
I was on for a bit earlier (the servers just went down for scheduled maintenance). My lag was very minimal. I'm guessing it's because the servers were the least populated that they've been since launch. Anyway, it gave me a nice preview of what it will be like to play Earthrise when some of the current issues are worked out.
I am convinced there is only one way to eliminate these grave evils, namely through the establishment of a socialist economy, accompanied by an educational system which would be oriented toward social goals.

If the gameplay is good (IF)
do you think CS players think that their game is grind? no,its enjoyable gaming even if you repeat that 10000000 times.

The game can be fun when it runs without lag and good fps, strangely enough i think they found whats causing server lag by acident, aparently if the chat servers are off the servers run great, pretty funny how a chat server could cause instability, they also know what the cause of the fps lag is as well, so its just a matter of time before they get those two fixed which is hindering
alot of the gameplay, if they work hard im sure they can get at least the chat issue done before the end of the month, the fps issue might need a complete client or engine rewrite so im not sure it they can make it at the end of the month on that but at least they know what the problem is, in the meantime if you want to play without fps lag, get a ssd drive and install the game on it, it will fix it, you will still have server lag though but at least you wont stuter all over the place.
Agreed.
Its running okay for me, but compared to the smoothness I get from other games with good or better (AoC) graphics, I'll be more jazzed to play it if they can optimize it. I really shouldn't be running this game with any graphics settings turned down.

I am sticking with Xsyon, the devs actually care about the game.. I was so stocked for pvp that eventually could remind me of NOTUM WARS in Anarchy Online, but these issues have ruined it. Xsyon is the better sandbox and has wayyyyy more potential!
