It takes some special skill to make your races look worse than Darkfall though, we have to give them that.
Personally I am all in favor of gameplay over eyecandy but this is just ...
The two cat/dog/racoon/something headed people (#3, #6) look like terrible photoshops of such a head onto a human body.
I have respect for any game that can make their graphics look like terrible photoshops. It would be like making a game look like a child drew it... not some adult with a crayon, but an actual child.
Spec'ing properly is a gateway drug. 12 Million People have been meter spammed in heroics.
April fools ended 7 hours, 20 minutes and 6 seconds before this post. A bit late, dood.
i was gonna answer just this..... lol
that sorcery citadel thing looks horribad
And you look so much better? Hmm? Hmm?! =P
One stupid post is another one deserved.
The screenshots on the website has nothing to do with how the final client will look like when the game comes out.
They are merely showing us that stuff because they are so into what they are doing and that they want to share with their fans what's going on.
If you would step back you'd see you sound exactly like the apologists for D&L, MO, Xyson, Earthrise, DF and half a host of Indy games and realize its more likely COS is on a paralllel path with them than breaking new ground.
There's a fine line between being objective vs crossing over to fanboyism, and statements such as "they are too busy to share with the fans' what's going on" just rings so hollow. ( a point I've debated with them before on)
So fine, we'll wait and see what turns out, but in the mean time being cautiously optimistic is about the best anyone should really be expected to display.

The combat system in CoS is still very much under development. It is one of the most critical parts of any MMO game and we are spending a lot of effort in the development of a system that improves the feel and enjoyment of combat in the game while adding lots of strategy choices for those who wish to take advantage.
We have decided to go with an icon based combat system, where you are selecting an opponent and then using your Abliity icons to send your commands to your character. However, in many other MMO games this kind of system becomes what we like to call 'whack-a-mole'. This means that you have a number of attacks and you just keep mashing the one that becomes available next.
It is our intention to add much more strategy into the choice of what Ability you choose to use next. We'll do this with parry and block options, with feint and charade tactics and with other systems that benefit the thinking player versus the 'whack-a-mole' school of play.

Er no thanks then. Developers really need to realise that EQ clone style combat is no longer acceptable. Darkfall and Mortal Online have revolutionised MMO combat and I for one could never go back games like WOW with its shitty point and clicky combat.

Yes, I've seen videos of the combat in DF and MO... Running around spamming the same distance spells, and in general acting like one is in an FPS, isn't what I'd call a "revolution" in game play.... ^^
Regardless of it being a joke, you should be the PR guy for todays MMO devs. You make crap look like chocolate with those descriptions.
Do me a favor and have a look at the Citadel of Sorcery website, look over the things they will be implementing, the size of the world, generally.
It will shock you, it will shock most, no doubt.
And I'm not your atypical hyped up gamerdude.
And to me, NONE of those things matter til' they've been tested on a server with 1,000's of people playing.
When people say stuff like "GW2 is gonna look like a patched 'current' MMO", on a "barely Alpha" build where maybe 5 people play at once, it's understandable that people mistake it for an April Fools joke.
An MMO project isn't just the "game", and any excuse about placeholders and lack of website focus just conveys the lack of professional chops from the gaming company. If the website does not adequately convey the "seriousness" of this game, whose fault is that???
What u must understand though is that not only is poor hype a killer but hype needs to be for a good reason and it must be shown. Just like how after the unveiling of GW 2 at Gamescom, the GW 2 scene was something people had seen; they could believe in it. Players could see their direction is a step in the revolution in immersive MMORPG gaming. The hype after the convention was astounding and it still continues today.
New, independent developer makes fantastic claims of how their upcoming game will revolutionize everything. Now, where have I heard that before?
There's one huge difference between ArenaNet and MMO Magic: ArenaNet has done it before. When ArenaNet promises to do some things differently and make it work, it's credible or at least highly plausible because they've done so in the past. When some new company without that track record makes the same claims, well, maybe they'll deliver what they promised, or maybe they'll have a quirky game that is different but not exactly good, or maybe it will be a catastrophic failure.
Anyone who watched the WAR hype videos is bound to be reluctant to believe any promises even from established developers with a good reputation. Many of the serious posters on this site were burned badly by that bait-and-switch.
Darkfall became infamous because their site kept promising features months after it became known that they would probably never be implemented in the game.
Some interesting posts. All I will say is that MMO Magic is playing like Socrates. They have been quiet, perhaps abit too much. By June they will bring out their trump card and you will see for yourselves the magic of the hard work they have put into this MMORPG to date. By then, the curtain will fall and you will have, even before then player and dev forums and media about the game including the usual pictures/artwork/lore/trailers and so forth.
MMO Magic is being created by some very heavy players that have helped ship some AA titles, none that have been revealed as of yet. They might not be the big names of known MMORPG development but even "drop out boys" have gone on to create some pretty damn original and fantastic feats.

I agree, they have been too quiet, which of course raises people's suspicions about what's really behind the curtain.
Perhaps you're right, come June we'll see some amazing stuff, I certainly hope so, their concepts sound good even if I don't agree with them on their philosophy on grouping and a couple other areas.
Best to not try and "namedrop" about their Development experince, especially when they haven't publically revealed any big named Dev's or even revealed bios on their backgrounds. (too busy making the game of course)
About now one of them probably will chime in and say they won't be baited into responding, they'll reveal what they want, when they want to so I'll give them the benefit of the doubt for now.

From the FAQ on the site:
What kind of combat does the game offer?
