Do fanboys serve a purpose ? Do they do more harm than good? Are you comfortable admitting to being a fan boy?
Give us your best pros & Cons list of the fanboy!

I prefer "positively biased game anticipator".
"Fanboy" is so .... derogatory.
On a similar basis I have been calling some people "game-detractors" rather than "haters".
Also: why can't we all get along?
My brand new bloggity blog.
Is this really necessary? There is nothing wrong with being a fan of something and not every fan is a raving fanatic-lunatic like the other side make them out to be.
Do the critics that post any and every negative point they make at every chance they get serve a purpose?
We're clearly not talking about simple "fans", here. We are talking about the raving fanatic-lunatics
They're just as bad as haters.
Which means they're, at times, highly annoying but in the end a positive thing.
This isn't a blog or something similair with a single poster. It's a forum where hundreds or even thousands of posters come together. The opinions, reviews, complaints and ideas generated on this forum aren't the result of a single poster. They come from all of us together, fanboys and haters included. And with all of that taken together you come up with a pretty balanced and objective view of something. Balance every fanboy with a hater, balance every follower with a doubter and every newbie with a veteran and together I think we'll come pretty close to how the game really is.
So even though all of us will have pretty agressive negotiations on these forums that will, at times, descend into trolling, name calling and insults ( go go mod team to the rescue! ) I believe that in the end we've got a pretty good thing going here.
So who's up for a group hug before we get back to the forum PvP?
We are the bunny.
Resistance is futile.

I voted to bring back Smuffberry!
The problem with Haters and Fanboys is the way they both blindly look at a game. You are not a hater or fanboy if you do your research and like or dislike a game because of it. You are not a hater or fanboy just because you are possitive or negative about a game, again, if you do your research.
So it is the blind unthinking behavior of both uneducated haters and fanboys that are the problem. Not just a negative or possitive thread post. And both lables should not be used just because you do not agree with someone. That happens way too much IMO.
How many people long for that "past, simpler, and better world," I wonder, without ever recognizing the truth that perhaps it was they who were simpler and better, and not the world about them?

p.s. this is a Swtor-fanboys only group hug right?

How did i know Smurfberry crunch would have the most votes.
The following statement is false
The previous statement is true
I must have made a mistake because they weren't clearly marked.
and Smurfberry Crunch Cereal sounds really good..
Cuz it's soooooooooooo good! I'm hoping they'll bring it back to coincide with the release of the Smurf movie
I'll be honest, DarkPony is one of my favorite Fanboys You dont have to be here long to see that he's anxiously awaiting SWTOR, and he has a very high opinion of it, but you never see him shoving it down the throats of everyone else who disagrees.
Perhaps you could give seminars on appropriate fanboy behaviors?
Hehe, I would be honored. ^_^
*coughs*
1. Always read a negative post twice and think about it for a while before you react. Then use the best possible arguments TO SMASH THE POST TO BITS WITH FACT AND REASONABLENESS! Use quotes and your superior knowledge of the game to fend of all negativity based on misconceptions.
2. Some negative posts are not so much misconceptions but CONDEMNATIONS OF YOUR GAME. Here it is vitally important to never attack on a personal level (unless very subtle) and never, ever show anger. ANGER IS A WEAKNESS AND SUGGESTS LACK OF FAITH IN YOUR GAME. Show positive optimism, make a joke and perhaps a casual *shrug* here and there to make it seem that you aren't at all disturbed by all this negativity you are addressing.
3. Lengthy discussions on page 32 are to be avoided: you are merely engaged in a quote war and churning out colored type with one or two people who are just as stubborn as you: make your opinion known early in the thread and move on; noone will read those lengthy multi-quotes anyway and as a fanboy you first of all need EXPOSURE.
That covers most of it I reckon.

more info for your brain :P
they hurt the game by completely ignoring any fault or any possible faults of thier cherished MMO god..
The ones who worship an MMO that isnt even out yet are in a more serious state Im afraid.Led by cheap words and blind faith, they obediantly follow into the void of the unkown, alot of the time being betrayed by their god..
Most dont come back alive..
others who do come back are nothing more but a frail husk of their former selves. For the betrayal and lies of their former god are far too great to withstand.
theyre bodies are left, used, and broken.
For those who would rather see this sequence in pictures and animation,I have made an emoticon sequence of the occurance here:
I think we have a clear winner in Smurfberry Crunch Cereal.

Fratman: "I'm saying Spring 2012 at the earliest [for TOR release]. Anyone still clinging to 2011 is deluding themself at this point."
That was awesome, thanks

Say something good about a MMORPG and you're a fanboy. Say something bad about it, and you're a troll.
If you say something good about WoW, you are automatically labled a Troll and a Fanboy.
Say something bad about WoW, and you're a Forum Hero
