well... I've on and off played EQII for years never breaking level 20. Main issue? Performance.(especially right after it released) I tend to have a really good gaming rig and even so the game played like crap. The last time I tried was just after EQ2X came out and I tried the shader 3.0 hoping for a lot having been impressed with some of the screens. Well... let's just say buggy was an understatement. So I put it away and said bye the game likely for good and went back to Aion/WoW.
Well.. fast forward a bit and I've been going without an mmo for some time. Was bored so I downloaded eq2x for a bit.. played a ranger to 13(yes I put down some money) decided that I'd rather play live and bought the latest expansion.. well I didn't bother turning on 3.0 until I was almost level 20 this time I'd just asssumed it was unplayable.. surprisingly this isn't the case. It's not perfect but I've yet to find things like naked frames to buildings obviously wrong coloring.. or flickering graphics.. *gasp* they've worked on it! Damn you rumor mongers I'd heard they'd just dropped it right then and there calling it unfixable. Graphics are a big deal to me and while performance is still an issue at least now I run the game pretty much maxed out mostly over 30 frames.(anti alliasing is still buggy though and don't even bother with 3d vison here) Now that I can get past the first issues I couldn't see past.. the game is rather impressive.
So much to do.. I'm not saying that it's perfect but it's up there with the best of them especially with it's housing. I love decorating my little abode. I've yet to find a guild but being on AB(yeah I roleplay occasionally) I still find others about quite regularly. I'm looking forward to the LFG system they're implementing and the Freeport revamp re itemization allowing those who wish to to quest anywhere they like. I'm still a nube but I could see myself dinking around in this world for some time. Still working out the AA stuff and all that but I don't see myself running out of things to do for a while. This isn't really a review but more impressions.. it really has surprised me. Looking forward to getting further along.

In all honesty, while the itemization revamp is needed, as long as you're not dependent on dropped or quest reward gear you can already quest wherever you want. I have most of the tradeskill angles covered up through Tier 3 right now and thus have never been terribly concerned about my quest drops sometimes being weaksauce and other times OP.

Well it's good that you are enjoying the game again. Be warned though.... that feeling of giddiness you have is a well documented mmo sickness. It starts out making one feel all happy and then within a month...BAM - you log in and say, "What the hell am I doing?" Honestly, I've felt the way you feel now on several different occasions with several mmos and it always ends in heartache!
Oh I know and I really doubt I'll stick past SWTOR(though I wouldn't be surprised if I came back at a later date). I'm not married to the game or any game for that matter. There's no heartbreak in the future here. I'm enjoying myself right now and that's what matters. As far as other areas... I might have to try them out. That AA really makes it hard to keep the pace the quests go at. I'll have to take a look into crafting as well.
