Sure it is better. W2 is very good game. DA2 is very bad one.

You could always download the DA2 demo to get a feel for the game before deciding to get it or something else. As for The Witcher 2, i'd suggest getting the first Witcher enhanced edition instead.

Dragon Age 2... is mediocre at best, imo. It could have been a lot better, and the changes they tried to make could have gone over way better, but it just REEKS of being rushed.

Every single battle is the same 2 to 3 spawns of enemies (~4 to 6 archers, ~2-4 melee, 1 assassin-type). The vast majority of your minibosses are actually the same mob with just a different name (Templar Lieutenant, Revenant, it doesn't matter; their skills and abilities are exactly the same).

Environments recycled over and over. You've seen all the environments by the end of Act 1.

I can appreciate a more political-based plot, but they just tied the acts so incredibly weakly. And Act 3 just dissolves into a string of "wtf?" moments.

(minor spoilers in the next point)

Adding to above, your choices ultimately matter very little to not at all. You can be pro-mage throughout the entire time, and be aggressive and completely open about it, but it doesn't matter. In Act 3, you are treated as anti-mage no matter what. And you will fight the same bosses at the end of the game regardless of any actions or choices you took (and when you get there, it just won't make any sense at all).

And then you add in all the massive bugs... hell, some of the Tactics conditions are broken. And don't summon Dog: it will break "Ally < 25% HP => Heal" Tactic condition (and its variants) as the AI will attempt to cast on Dog, but it will fail as it's not a true party member. It'll just get stuck trying and failing until Dog is desummoned or dies (or a higher priority tactic activates).

In the end, after playing it, I could only recommended if you just like hacking and slashing. This game has TONS of filler combat with spawning waves if you're into that sort of thing.

I would wait until DA 3 releases or some time has passed and all the DLC for DA 2 can be purchased as a single bundle.

I bought DA:O deluxe last year and I regretted not waiting a bit more.

OP, if you were asking about DAO for that much, I'd say it's worth it.  But DA2?  You wouldn't get me to download for free that sequel that's inferior to the first in every meaningful way.

Waste of money and time.  Save the money for something else.

DA2 and DA:O are two different games altogether, only linked by name.  Ok the 2 games share the same timing and history, and that is about all.

DA2 is not a bad game, those who loved DA:O too much to refuse to look at a new toy aside, DA2 is a decent game on its own.  People talks about arcane game combat, reused dungeons and texture, asian style anime, ok but for all these complains, DA2 is a decent game b/c a game is more than just one or 2 aspects.

DA2 has a decent story, and a couple of the squad members are fun.  Varric is one.  DA2 has decent flow of combat, nice enough a change from DA:O.  Bioware is trying to change some, and experiment, and we should at least give them the chance to try.  Squadmates cannot change armor, that sucks a bit.  But still we have a decent game, and for $12, that is a good deal.  No many games at that prices beats DA2.  Not many.

Take the free demo, its a good place to start.

Yeah, it is worth 12 bucks.

Kept me amused for 10 days. Parts of it were nowhere near the first game but at times it was pretty good.

It don't really have a story like the first game, instead of fighting for good or evil you more or less look out for yourself, your friends and family here. The first game is better in most ways though.

Neither of the games are anywhere near NWN and BG1 & 2. and DA2 is not worth $60 but $12 is a good deal for a week or 2 playing.

Well Loke, other than the 666 in your title, I find once again that I pretty much agree with ya.

DA2 doesnt have as solid a RPG foundation as the original DA, but that doesnt mean that enjoyment cant be found. Sort of like ME1 vs ME2. I enjoyed the combat more in DA2( I play on console).

It is funny as I just got done running thru DA, then importing to run thru DA2 once again. The only thing that really bothered me was the re-use of art assets for various dungeons. Luckily BW got the hint, and the latest DLC was entirely new.

I more than got my money out of DA2, and for 12 bucks it is a good buy IMO.

Someone else had already registred "Loke" and I can't be named "Loke 2", can I?

I am not sure I got my 60 bucks worth of DA2, I say I got about $45 because it was a little to short.

They could have made a better job with the companions. I miss the ones from Baldurs gate, besides Isabella and Varric were they a pretty boring bunch in DA2.

It's totally worth it. It's one of my favorite games, DA2 was even better tho.. don't believe the haters.

Bro....other than Isabela being such a huge slut, I gotta say that off of the top of my head, she is the hottest NPC  ever IMO heh(morrigan a close 2nd).

I am with ya though....Varric and her made the game stand out way more than it would of otherwise. I would prefer more Varric in DA3 vs "ENCHANTMENT"  for another round. If they renamed Sandle "E.T.", and he spouted "phone home" instead, would we really notice?

Characters like Anders remind me of the whiny CIA chick on Torchwood: Miracle Day.  Aveline was a step up from listening to Alistar pout, but the arishok didnt hold a candle to Loghain.

If I had to rate the last 5 BW releases, ME/ME2 tie for first, then DA:O, DA2, and finally DA:Awakening expansion. Having gotten all acheivements for those titles, I can honestly say I would pay full price for each again if I had to do over.

In comparison, Fallout 3 and Vegas both were better game wise than the DA series...until you include bugs. I have never stopped playing a BW game for months on end due to continual locking up of the system.

ive dropped stuff in the toilet thats better than DA2 DA2  truly is the deathknell for bioware, its all EA now.

Bioware from a few years ago would have never made a shallow pos game like DA2. the witcher 2 is a real rpg.

Here's how i should have put it.

If you've already exhausted such as Dragon Age 1, ME 1 & 2, Deus Ex and the recently released Deus Ex Human Revolution (one of the best games ever made IMO) and all the older titles then give it a try. It's not as bad as most convey but not as good as the greats. It's a decent time passer.

Easily worth the cash. I have played through DA1 &2 numerous times. I wish it was more open world but still a good story. As for Witcher who knows never played any of them. Fallout GOTY edition and Fallout Vegas are also enjoyable. Don't forget Dark Souls and Skyrim will be out soon as well.

Personally I didn't like DA1 at all, from a gameplay standpoint especially. DA2 however as much as the story didn't grab me, the game was a fun time waster, I actually had a lot more fun playing it than DA:O. That's just me though.

Really, besides Rift, this year has been awful for RPG games in any form.

There are some ,Hopefully, good games coming this holiday season.

Have a sense of humor, no need to get ALL MODDY ! :) A Simpson's quote shouldn't be worth a warning. You are lucky anyone is bothering to read this rag.

Witcher is a great game, but it does have its weakness.  Its combat feels lacking, lacking the feel of DA2.  Its interface is also a bit awkward, somehow Bioware is still better when it comes to UI.

Act 1 of Witcher 2 is great as a story goes, not the good-bad click of Bioware choice wheel.

Yeah, Anders and that emo elf both got on my nerves.

I hope they put a little more work into the NPCs for DA3, 2 good just ain't enough, particularly since they took one of them from the first game. I liked most of the BG characters and they were a huge bunch, but I guess most of the good storywriters are working on TOR right now.

Ok, my biggest hope is that they get back the Forgotten realms license, that is what Bioware does best.

Yes it is great if you like completely linear games that lead you by the nose. You can not explore as there are invisable walls. Everything is instanced. The story could have been written by a 10  year old, the character are totally cardboard cut out.

I can not wait for SWTOR when this is the quality of gaming that bioware make!

I dont think they will ever team up with Atari again.....especially since creating their own IP.

Then again I never thought they would make another KOTOR, so who knows.
