if P2P + Cash Shop = $5.99 sub,  im all for it,  as long as the items arent gamebreaking.

To all of you saying “Funcom is greedy”.  Look at their latest financial report (http://www.newsweb.no/newsweb/search.do?messageId=288600), and if you haven’t… How can you than call them greedy not knowing the financial state? Now you’ve probably noticed the current cash-flow is negative and that they are using the cash reserve to finish the game. Yes, the game portfolio is still cash flow positive, but the outflow is higher than the income. As a result they have to use the cash reserve.  FC will need to rebuild if they are to make other games while their current ones have declining player base.

Take a look here:  “Based in Oslo, the company's largest and fastest growing studio is in Montreal. It was inaugurated in 2009, and as of January employed 138 people. However, the studio has plans to grow to 250 employees by the end of the year, La Presse reported Friday

Most of the employees are working on a new MMO called The Secret World, but some are also working on an unnamed project. Funcom is investing $45 million on the production of The Secret World - a project that by its launch next April will have taken about five years to complete."

Contributing to make the unemployment lower is not greed, but they will however need more money to pay salaries.

Conclusion: Punishing a developer that dares to make a large scale game different ,six months in advance of launch based on: “The game will have is cashshop”, is not the way to go.  Nothing in our world is flawless, so if a CS is the only major issue with the game. You’ll most likely find another issue in the game you choose to play. We have also begun to assume much about the TSW CS based on other games that contains them. There is not enough info to draw such harsh conclusions.

Apologizes for the flawed English, but it is not my native language.

OT: Readers shouldn’t take all the articles here to serious… “Was anyone really surprised that EA and Funcom have decided to run The Secret World with both a subscription and micro-transactions?”

EA-partners are only co-publishing the boxed version of the game in North-America.  We all know this by now, right?

I disagree.  This is the only way to show our dissatisfaction in a way that matters.  CS is not a tiny problem.  It affects the game in a massive way and creates a huge amount of uncertainty about the future.  Who wants to invest time and money in a game that at the very beginning has it all set up to introduce advantages for people who pay extra(on top of the sub fee)?  Additionally, I want a game where I am not marketed extra products from the developers in game and reminded of it all the time.

No one is trying to punish Funcom for deciding to add a cash shop. We simply just don't like cash shops in subscription MMOs. Just the same as an MMO having or not having PvP, extensive crafting, or any other feature can make or break each of our decisions as to whether or not we want to play an MMO.

Funcom's inability to turn a profit through a pure subscriber payment model does not change the fact that many of us view cash shops in an subscription game to be a rip off.  If Funcom loses more money because of people "boycotting" the game due to the cash shop, well it was Funcom's choice to add a cash shop, just as it's our choice not to play the game because of it.

Funcom just need to get real here again...TSW is not a triple AAA title. It does not tie into something like Star Wars nor does it ttie into a sequel stratergy in the way GW2 does. The game should be box purchae and f2p model or box purchase and low sub. Give us a break Funcom, you aren't Blizzard why put the launch day cash shop into a non-ftp model. Heck, what if the game bugs out again...you guys will be handing out free month passes again and free cash shop gifts...puff bang goes your buisness model again!

aaaaw no way, why do they do that?! thouse kinds of things are what ruins a game! cant get the whole experience unless you pay even more and that just sucks big time even for funcom!  i tought they might actually make a good game this time =/ oh well, im still gonna give it the 1 month try before i decide wether it deserves my yearly contibution.

I don't see why anyone cares...

As long as the stuff doesn't uberfy your character there's not really a problem in the grand scheme of things. People get bent out of shape for no reason. I doubt most people really care. It's the most innovative game coming out within a year (no..GW2 and SWTOR are not).

Now if the stuff does uberfy your character (which at the moment it isn't supposed to), then there is a problem.

Meh, Skyrim will keep me busy at least as long as the average mmo does these days before I get bored with them. Funcom got enough of my money from my old AO account that was being paid for but I didn't play anymore. Finally cancelled that a month ago. EA's just a joke that's in trouble, a friend of mine got hired by them as part of an internal restructuring they're doing because they've noticed they're in trouble. But in the end, up until reading this, I was curious about this game. Now I'll be more than happy to move along.
