Star Wars: The Old Republic: Star Wars: The Old Trek Revisit

Why are you people getting so retardedly defensive. You are not complete idiots. You know just as well as everyone else out there the formula for a winning MMO is a blatant mystery. You can throw in factors based on statistics, economy, or just good ol fashion know how. In the end it all means nothing. Some of the best cream can be stubborn and refuse to rise to the top.

So Mr. Coyote Sharptongue its cool man. I truly hope you are mistaken and that SW:TOR is a massive success, However if you are Correct and its not then it will end up just another game that will be big enough to cover its costs before it bites the big one. Sometimes fanboys are enough to keep a game afloat. Just look how long it took for SGW to die out after its multitude of horrible mistakes. I liked my Tera Kasi Master.

Sincerly,

Long time fan of the Star Wars universe, while still enjoying a good ol cheesy William Shatner movie as James Tiberious Kirk.

I think you misread this humor article.  He never implied that the game would fail in any way.  He was poking fun at certain  criticisms.

Did Coyote say that SW:TOR will not be a success? I must have missed that.

It's one thing when you see this kind of attitude in the forums but it's unacceptable coming from a columnist. I would just like it to be known that if MMORPG.com continues to abuse it's forum members for having an opinion that they disagree with I will get my news elsewhere and that goes for it's sister sites too. If people can avoid these kind of rants and communicate properly than maybe they wouldn't get so worked up in the first place.

This was my complaint. While I don't agree with the particular opinions of the forum members that are addressed in the article I don't like seeing columnist/staff s*%^ on members.

Maybe I did misread his column. Its all good though. What I said still stands true. People get worked up over the littlest things. Its quite amazing.

Hehe they sure do. In fact some people will misinterpret what someone else is saying and instead of seeking clarification, they will go as far as to start a new topic with their misinformed rebuttal. Amazing indeed :)

Id appreciate it if you accuse the staff at MMORPG.com of abusing its forum members, that you provide proof. Links and quotes where this abuse has happened is what im getting at. I visit every day, and I have pretty consistantly since I joined this forum. I've never seen staff or columnists abuse anybody in the community.

That being said, no one should be "abused" for having an opinion different than someone elses. But that also works both ways, no one should make up fallacys because a columnist here has a different opinion than you do. Two sides of the same coin.

I thought the article was amusing, and should of been taken light heartedly.

I have already sacrificed my first born to the MMO God Koster so it will be a success, if not then atleast I got rid of the little shit before having to pay for his university fees ;)

The robber baron's cruelty may sometimes sleep, his cupidity may at some point be satiated; but those who torment us for our own good will torment us without end for they do so with the approval of their own conscience"

I thought the tone of the article and what it refereed to was self evident. If you don't see it or don't agree than I'm not going to try and convince you as I've spent more time here than I wanted to already. I'll concede that "abuse" might be overstating things but that is how I felt I should treat the ridicule and for the record I've been visiting here on and off for years now too and this isn't the first article that I've read that has taken the piss out of the community.

While I agree with you, MMORPG.COM has a business to run, and developers/distributos are the people paying for advertisments here, and SWTOR is a BIG client, so if they will always defend they guys giving them money, and we forumers aren't, at least directly because we are the ones watching the ads and buying the games, but that doens't seem to matter.

And also, if you read the comments, that article was very welcome by the SWTOR fans here, so they are alienating only a part of the forumers.

    Meh.

SW:TOR wont be as good as Vanguard, that one is already obvious. So even if it fails completely, I still have another game to return to. But it can be very good, and its likely that it will be good, and thats what matters.
