So me and a couple friends usally sit on Ventrilo while gaming. Yesterday all of us bought "Lord of the ring:War of the north" to play together on coop.
Offcourse this sounded fun from the getgo, but ended up in a chrash and burn ...ill tell why.
Steam offers an internal voice chat system for multiplayer games, and this isnt bad alltogether, but it gets very bad when it gets forced down your throath like Steam do it.
Seriosly, i was kinda shocked when i realized i couldnt turn of that internal voice chat. It was no disable voice chat button, it even overides you ventrilo when online, switching to default for the game.
The game is totally ruined for the 3 of us now, we get a mix of echo'es, static and broken sentences when we try playing the game. We got ingame, but its basicly unplayable as a Coop game bacause of this. It even has a "enable push to talk button" option, but it doesnt work either, so basicly its just ON all the time.
Ive tried everything from adding a mic device to outsmart it, but nothing works really, and i have no idea how to get around it. Steam has forums, but they arent up and going (wonder why), and i have sendt a complaint to Steam support.
But i really JUST CANT UNDERSTAND IT....WHY? WHY MAKE IT LIKE THIS?...why shouldnt i be able to disable voice chat if i want to? it just doesnt make sense?..why force me to use it? Seriosly?.....ive tried to get my head around it but i still dont understand why they do it like this? /boggle.
Im totally turned away from Steam now because of this, and ive bought lots of games from them so far, as have my friends. If this thing doesnt get resolved fast, im NEVER going to spend money there anymore. I really feel cheated .....
So i guess its back to hamachi and setting up IP for Coop/Multiplayer games myself after this. Its much safer.
If anybody have any solution to this i would appriciate it.
