I just felt like I needed to dish out my frustration...
So I pre-order this game 8 months ago, on top of that the version I pre-ordered is the collector's edition, and I participate in several Betas. But I do not get access to the first or second day of early access.
I don't see the logic behind this, they said 50% of the people who will get early access will be the ones who preordered first and the other 50% are the ones who contributed to Beta. I am pretty that 8 months of pre-order, I was probably one of the first ones, as it was around the period they had just started the pre-orders, and I participated in Beta and actually contributed a lot.
A couple of days don't really make a difference, I just was hoping to get that email as I have done the necessary to get in.
Peace

No, they didn't say that 50% of the EA people will be who ordered first and 50% who contributed to beta. It's ALWAYS been first come, first serve, in the order that you preordered. That's been known for months, and they've never said anything other than that.
Also, you didn't pre-order 8 months ago. Pre-ordering became available on 7/21 of this year.

Philosophy of MMO Game Design
also this is onky the first day of prelaunch. the op must see into the future
First of all, pre-ordering at Gamestop started around a year ago, which I did, and I got my pre-order card on the first day that SWTOR opened code registration.
Second off, if you read the following interview, you will see that they did mention that the ratio of people getting in will be 1:1 for preorders as opposed to Beta testers.

So yes it does not make any sense that I did not get seeing how I am in both categories that are supposed to get early access. Which makes me believe that the first come first serve rule is not applied and the Beta testers rule is not applied either.
I am a big fan of this game, I am big fan of Bioware and to a lot of people's surprise, I am a big fan of EA, but to me personally, they have not delivered on their promise of early access. That is all I am trying to say.
Peace
what i took dallas to be saying there was that most of the people that pre-oreder and registered their codes early were also people that were in testing because they the people that would have signed up for testing by that point were also people that would pre-order early. so the "reward" for testing was that you get into early access soon because you likely pre-order early. i really dont see it as him saying that testers get a jump in the line for early access
edit: also just because gamestop was taking pre-orders doesn't mean they were official until bioware announced them(as biowarestated many times), so your pre-ordered 8 months ago arguement holds little water
But you weren't able to register your pre order code on their website until July 21st, right? So that technically started the countdown for early access entry. Also, you misunderstood what Dallas Dickinson was saying in his interview. He was simply saying that the ratio of testers to people that pre-ordered early was about 1:1, meaning roughly the same amount of each. He wasn't stating that 50% from each group would be allowed in on the first day.
Well according to everything I read they said you can get up to 5 thats FIVE days of early access and seeing that it is not thursday yet they still have not broken any promis to you becuse it is still 6 days away from actual launch date. Brings an Eagles song to mind..... GET OVER IT.
the "up to 5 days" was when early access was going to start on the 15th and so the first people in would have 5 days. it was never everyone is going to get atleast 5 days. and since they expanded early access to 7 days so close to the date, i think they just never took the time to change that "up to 5 days"
I have never seen something where people just randomly make stuff up to such a ridiculous extent.
This pre-order is playing out exactly like they said it would all the way back in July. The only thing that's changed is that they actually pushed up early access dates
Stopped reading right there as the official pre-orders started less than 5 months ago on July 21st. If you are complaining about companies doing unofficial pre-orders then your gripe is with them and in no way with Bioware or EA.
Golarom Bioware doesn't even know when you pre-ordered from your local retailer.
They're letting people play in the order they registered their pre-order keys on swtor.com. Right now they're probably somewhere around 29th July.
27th I think it is the interwebz so take with a pinch of salt.
how do you know you didnt get in on the 2nd day, when the 2nd day just started and there will be at least 5 waves of invites sent out today. And probably more according to twitter
So many people mad over an earlier-early access...
So many knees, so few arrows...
Better to be crazy, provided you know what sane is...
Well, I would be really pissed if i preordered game just to get the early acess they promised. And than them ignoring what they promissed.
But thats EA for you.
EA stole their sweet roll.
How many servers SWTOR will launch with on release?
ShredderSE - Umm how many do they need? Maybe 6.
US, EU, Asian, France, German and Russian.
Subs will be so low there is no need for more
Snoocky-How many servers?
The first 3 months a lot...after that 2 i guess, one for PVE and 1 for PVP...
Thorbrand - SWTOR doesn't have longevity at all. Might be one of the shortest lived MMOs.
Only genuine firesalts will do.
My brand new bloggity blog.
As per the twitter posting from last evening, the 1st round of invites for today (day 2) should be going out at approximately 8AM CST/9EST. Call it 1.5 hours.
Yea, so, ummmm..
Don't know why, but who the hell cares WHEN you preordered. You could have preordered in March, if you didn't put your key into the website with an account you may not even be getting in. Look for the Star Wars specific email that tells you something about "thank you for preordering". That emails date is the all important one for Early Access.
As far as I can tell, all my buddies who preordered in a chunk are in. They weren't all in the first wave though so I'm not sure how Bioware decided to break that up.
Golarum,
You are confusing "up to" with "at least". No one is gaurenteed 5 days. Some may only get 1. But the way the first day went, everyone may get a few or more.
Bottom line is if you are complaining about not getting in about day 1, get over that day is over. Geez....
No one is guaranteed 1 day either; they only put an upper boundary and no lower one, which means that in theory they would not break their promise even if the pre-ordering costumer receives no early access time.
No one said this to the OP? o well... Patiance Young Padiwan... Patiance
I like how everyone likes to jump on their horses and start flaming!
Ok, let me repeat myself...(as I explained more clearly in my other post)
I pre-ordered at Gamestop 8 months ago
I put the code in on July 21st, that date is also confirmed on SWTOR.com website when go into my account, preorder section.
I Beta tested (which someone clarified that I had misread the interview, so it doesn't matter much)
Considering these facts and considering what Bioware/EA promised, I should already be playing.
Now, we are talking about a day or two, or maybe 5 even, and that is not the issue, it is an mmo, I will probably be playing for months, and maybe years (depending on how content pours in). I am not complaining about the number of days, I am complaining about the fact that what they are promising and what they are delivering does not match. So I get frustrated when that happens because I say to myself, if on a simple thing like early access, they don't keep their word, how will it be with all the features and content that they are promising in the future.
Another thing is that I have been playing MMOs since Meridian 59, in 1996, I have played every single MMO ever released in NA. And lately most gaming companies have been overpromising and underdelivering, and that is why the slightest thing lights a red light, and gets me being skeptical again.
So I will wait for whatever access I get, be it early release, or the 20th, I will get my collector, I will play the game, because I'm loving the game until now, and I recommend anyone reading this to go out and buy it if they have not done so yet. And I will hope that they keep ALL their promises and bring us all the features and content they have been telling us about.
Peace
Whelp, there goes my theory then. Sorry bud, you got unlucky in the Early Access pool then. Did you randomly try logging in without recieving the email?
