I went into the launch of the early access determined to roll a Sith Warrior. I found a good guild almost immediately, populated by adults who are a lot of fun to be around.
However, after 6 days of playing, I am completely burned out on the class and, to an extent, the faction. I was always a huge fan of the Empire in the films, and while this is, of course, not the same Empire, the visual cues are close to identical. And, for a few days, I was extremely happy.
But now the visuals, along with just about everything else, are beginning to wear on me. Every building is grey; every flag is red or black; every NPC is either armored, masked, uniformed or cloaked (or all four). Worst of all, I can never really shake the feeling that every decision I make is wrong, even when I am doing something 'right.' The Sith choice trees seem to almost always break down to A) utter, amoral, violent jerk, or regular jerk. Rarely do I walk away from a quest feeling like I did something an honest person would smile about... it's just mean act-->mean act-->mean act, punctuated by the occasional lie or false smile.
And it's not like I mind the mean acts. It's that they're just constant.
I realize that some Sith are probably just eating that up, but I seem to be getting numb to it over time. IE: the evil begins to lose its impact when it is constant. I tried rolling a Jedi, and while they are often sickeningly-sweet, like fresh syrup, they can be downright nasty, too. There's an element of corruption that a Jedi can tap into that the Sith never approach and, in a strange way, I almost feel like my Jedi is more evil (when she wants to be) than my Sith, particularly since she can turn it on off.
So, I'm thinking of abandoning the cool guild (and they really are cool) and the nifty, dark faction (who I will always admire way more than the whiny, all-accepting Republic) and sticking with the Jedi.
Is anyone else struggling with the 5-day bug like I am?

personally i am happy with my choice of trooper. i orginally went into thinking i would play him as being willing to do anything to get the job done, but i tend to find myself going "wait you are ordering me to do what? nope sorry not going to happen." hmm i wonder if thats why i haven't been promoted in awhile.
during testing when i played an agent, i found his light choices to make him come off as decent. however if they were sith, they got no special treatment from me. although this usually resulted in being shocked. XD
These moral choices are actually very deep -- it's what makes us human.
On the surface, the Sith are strong, powerful, tough. We admire that. Inwardly they are sociopathic amoralists who can only exist in a strict authoritarian organization.
If a Sith goes "good" he will only be thought of as "weak."
On the other hand, if a moral and ethical Jedi of the Light Side slips over to the Dark Side, he will be thought of as a tragically complex and troubled character struggling with the eternal struggle between good and evil.
A game that makes you think? Hey!

Funny thing, I was original intent on rolling an Imperial Agent but during beta weekends i liked the sith warrior a lot so i rolled one for launch. Got to about 25 and hated it so i rerolled back to Imperial Agent and have not regretted it at all. Out of all Glowbat users Sith warrior seems to the least played. I know a lot of people hate its armor looks.
As to the evil of Sith warrior. I feel that the "evil" for them is almost for the sake of being dark side. Where as the Imperial Agent I feel like a badass KGB/CIA Operative who will do whatever needs to be done to protect himself and the Empire.
[mod edit - let's keep it civil] Personally i love it everytime i get the option for my Sith Sorcerer to shock or kill someone. Granted my sith pureblood sorc is an all powerful dark lord sadist who will stop at nothing to obtain as much power as she can. Even death itself cant stop her!
Yeah, the initial SW armor sucks. Get to around 30 and hit Tat, though, and you can actually create a decently-convincing Revan clone.
Shrug, you've got less than a week invested. If you're feeling certain that the grass is greener on the other side, right now would be the best time to make the jump. The more time you invest in it, the harder it's going to be.
Self-pity imprisons us in the walls of our own self-absorption. The whole world shrinks down to the size of our problem, and the more we dwell on it, the smaller we are and the larger the problem seems to grow.
OP - I can relate. I'm the worst type of gamer, the type that can NEVER decide on a class, I find myself switching constantly and always regretting not going something else.
HOWEVER - I picked smuggler (scoundral) and have no regrets so far, It's been a blast. I guess there have been a few times I thought I should have gone gunslinger, but overall I've been very happy which is quite rare for me.
It's certainly not too laet for you to switch factions/classes. If your bent on empire why not pick a less evil class like a Bounty hunter?
I can understand where the OP is coming from. I followed my friends to the empire side as a Sith Inquisitor. I decided to go light sided responses to make up for it. Boy does the game like to punish you for bucking the norm. My companion practically hates every decision I make and constantly puts me down. I have been struggling with raising his affection and just plain give up. If he happens to like something I say I get 15 affection, but usually I get -30 or -40 constantly. I am level 29 and he has less than 200 affection, whereas all my dark sided friends are well over 4000 at the same level.
I keep on going as the oddball in my guild. Apparently no sith have any allies according to the decisions so I find it odd that they even have the capacity to have a strong cohesive empire since I am apparently supposed to play an egotistical psycho killer at all times, or be punished by the game. I have yet to see any species in any setting survive by constantly killing everyone to be on top, but apparently in sith world, that is the norm. It would be as if Emperor Palpatine just killed everyone he met. I don't remember that from the movies, but apparently its Bioware's take on the Sith Inquisitor.
Im not really too upset by it since this is just a game, but the negativity does have an affect on you. I don't have an inner psycho in me. I always play a healer in game and real life. A dark sided healer makes no sense, and apparently neither does a light sided one (on the sith side). Keep in mind I am on an RP server and want to play my character, but honestly the only person I really want to kill is my supposed slave servant Khem Val. Unfortunately I am only able to kill everyone but him and must put up with him constantly questioning my authority and openly mocking me. Doesn't seem very sith to me...
Cheers!
MMO Vet since AOL Neverwinter Nights circa 1992. My MMO beat up your MMO. =S
It might just be the class. I didn't get far as a Warrior myself. I thought the Inquisitor story about being a slave that's being forced to master the Dark Side had some promise. Also, Force Lightning FTW.
Personally, my two favorite classes on the Sith Empire side are the Agent and the Bounty Hunter. The Agent is pretty much a KGB/CIA covert ops type who screws some people over, kills others, and does what they have to in order to advance their interests, even sleeping with people. It's like Alec Trevelyan from the Bond films. I've always loved spy films, so the Agent was right up my alley.
The Bounty Hunter is amazingly easy -- you're doing it for the money. You don't give a damn about anything or anyone except getting paid. A job's a job. I liked that. I could make her as evil or as conflicted as I wanted, but the fact that it was ultimately about getting paid made it simple to wrap my head around the character.
Well, Sith Warriors first companion hates dark side options for the most part. Also, once you get Ashara Zavros i believe she prefers light side options.
I believe Mako (The first BH companion) prefers light side choice as well.
If it makes any of you guys feel better, the Dark Side Jedi gets just as ridiculed and lost. I scanned the list of companions and am disheartened that no one will like me.
.. but I enjoy my red lightsaber. I worked hard at lying, screwing, and killing to earn it.
I don't see what you have to regret. You had fun didn't you? Why regret it?
If you are bored of Sith warriors, roll something else.
I disagree with those of you who think the Sith are all negative or bad or amoral. There are a lot of examples i'd use but honestly everything you say about quests is spoilers. So... i'll just say that I find a lot of quests to have moral depth to them. Some things are even hard to categorize as good or evil... For instance, only example i'll use, and its VERY vague, there is a quest where you can kill people rather than horribly maim and torture them. Killing them is considered the light side choice. Makes you think, considering "light" and "dark" are in relation to that characters own personal morality, I find this really explains a lot about the content of my avatars character if you will... It tells me more about them as a "person" and about their society.
Its hard to say that the choices are just "good" or "evil" there is a lot of grey and intentionally so... I think the point of it is more a story telling device used to illustrate the moral backround of the different avatar's societies and their respective backrounds and beliefs.
Just my 3 cents.
I rolled a Sage and am starting to really regret it. I'm enjoying the story of the Sage, but pvp and grouping just sucks ass imo. I'll continue on with the story and keep working on my Synthweaving/Arch/UT but I'm looking forward to rolling another toon already.
I rolled a Jedi Knight to play when solo and a Jedi Consular to play with my wife. Then we found our server was the Unnoficial Oceanic server with a 2 hour queue time. (We got invited to pre-release on the first wave, so we had no idea)
We then decided to reroll after a few days of waiting in the queue on a new server. Rolled a Smuggler(Scoundrel) to play solo and a Jedi Knight to play with my wife.
Just got my wookie on the smuggler, it really is a blast. Han Solo and Chewbacca look a likes and loving it=)
I played a Sith Warrior in beta and I had a problem with just how evil some of the responses were, so my wife and I decided we would be Republic come release.
I am having a blast playing an evil republic trooper. Corrupt, greedy and funny as heck when I pick the evil options in instances and my light side jedi party members get mad at me.
There is actually a huge amount of corrput people in the republic so its in no way a goody-goody realm.
