SV finds new ways to rip off customers

http://www.mortalonline.com/forums/71336-subscription-ends-early.html

"ok, again, I can not put in a support ticket because I've already got one going. The system only allows 1 ticket per account until resolved.

So, I am forced yet again to come to these forums, as there is no other way I can get help.

This January I purchased 3 months of subscription, and it's already ended! It's not even February yet. So I'm locked out of game due to a subscription end, so it says in my account info.

It wants me to re-subscribe again, but I will not because I'm still owed 2 more months!

Can a Forum Moderator pass this aloong to a GM or a staff member to help me resolve this problam asap? I am losing game time."

A few days later a GM contacts him (only after another player petitions for him), and this is his reaction -

"Thnx for that, they id get back to me faster.

I've got to say though, I'm disapointed in the reply. Although trying to be helpful, it would appear they want me to re-subscribe, which means I effectvly lose the two months time from my old "oddly" cancelled 3 month subscription.

So to rememdy the situation, I've been told to re-subscribe using the new CC, and a new subsciption package. There was no word about my wasted months or an refund for those wasted months.

I did inquire about that, however, and I'm waiting on reply again."

He is still waiting.

So, charge you for 3 months and let you play for 1 month. Then tell you the only fix is to pay them again.

And the SV fanclub on here wonders why this company has the reputation it has.

Actually he is not waiting anylonger.

  • BetelBetel Member Posts: 365

Really? Provide evidence of the resolution of this as the player in question hasn't.

Regardless, shows the incompetance and shady dealing that SV revels in.

Wow a new low for SV as a company? First i thought ceo and gms talking about lies was bad enough, now they are desperate for cash so they switch to subscription fraud on their existing customers? Those who purchased 3 month or maybe 6 months gets screwed by SV??? Im speechless, i did not know they would stoop so low as to ripping their customers off.

  • osmundaosmunda Member Posts: 1,087

Just for context, Xuansy paid with a credit card that was about to expire.  When the credit card expired, the account got suspended.  Since the three months had been paid in full, the suspension should never have happened.  However, this appears to be a problem with record keeping, not an intentional rip-off.

As to the matter being resolved to Xuansy's satisfaction...http://www.mortalonline.com/forums/71441-wtb-flakestone.html#post1269686

If he's selling flakestone in game, I think it's been resolved.

This is nothing new. Starvault has been stealing from their  customers from the day they went live.

They used our CC information (which we used to purchase the game) to auto subscribe us.

They started our 30 days paid time the day they launched even though they did not  mail (and still haven't) out a working release version on media.

Double and tripple billing credit cards to show an increase in subscription prior to finincial release dates.

The list goes on and are well documented on these forums and others.

It is really a shame that this company still exists. it really is an embarassment  to the gameing community and the genre it is supposed to represent.

So is it safe to say this is the new dark & light #2 ?

  • davidemo89davidemo89 Member UncommonPosts: 59

No, just don't pay with a cc is going to expire 10 days later.

It works with every mmo the same

I don't think anything can be that bad. D&L is the absolute bottom of the MMO industry and gaming in general, in my experience.

    In some peoples minds.

That being said, some people seem to consider confusion over expired credit cards to be "stealing".

Starvault is not being sued for "software couterfeit, non-respect of the right to credit and paternity, unfair competition and parasitism", which puts them head and shoulders above Dark and Light.

Just a simple mistake and misunderstanding, but the desperate ex fanbois throw their vomit every time they hear "mortal online".

Nothing and I mean NOTHING is worse than the whole Dark and Light experience, not even MO.

The OP's issue is not a solitary one though. My initial subscription expired while I was waiting for the game disk to arrive. My next subscription expired while I was trying to download (I ordered the disk because my ISP can be wonky) and install the game. Should I talk about the multiple un-installs and re-installs? In the end, I think I paid for three months that I never had a chance to play. These issues remain unaddressed.

There are a lot of things I love about the game and I want it to succeed, even if I never play it again (mainly because of the nerdy combat system).

I also respect your bravery for posting here, even if your posts become troll fodder.

what are you talking about? When you have bought the game (cd, digital or preorder) the month started the same day you paid not when you get the dvd

Looks who's back to try and cause eyebleeding by using an extra attention grabbing color.. Have you yet learned that the term "MO 2.0" comes from your own CEO and was used to describe the epic patch?

Why i'm i not surprised here ?  Only things we hear about that game are stuff like that.  Now this is a new one, if you pay for multi-month subs with a credit card due to expire within the period, they'll cancel your sub...    It's not that they did'nt get paid, they got their money for the 3 months, it's just that in their database the CC is no longer vaild (probably reached the exp. date) and instead of leaving the sub carry on for what he paid for, they turn it off.   This is pure thievery.

There were for sure issues at launch - and we're far from perfect so I can understand the anger.

And thank you for the kind words.  I think I've had enough knocked out of me for one day hehe

    back tomorrow!

it's not starvault fault, they don't deal with payments, there is another company that do all these things.

I think this sums it up well. Stuff like this SHOULDN'T happen, but unfortunately it did/does. Implying that SV was trying to rip people off is just childish and trolling IMO.

By extra attention grabbing color do you mean the exact same color the OP used? Of course since your post is so off topic you probably didn't even read the OP. If I were you I'd ask myself "Am I here to discuss anything about the game or even this thread? Or am I here to troll GM Theia?"

That has got to be one of the dumbest comments I have seen posted on these forums.

Do you even know how a CC works? He PAID for a 3 month sub. Doesnt matter if it expired the next day, the charge was valid and was processed. Just because the card cant auto renew at the end of 3 months means jack shit.

I have removed CC info from MMO databases after paying for a sub. They didnt suspend the account, it just wont auto renew without a valid card. And the "it works with every mmo the same", NO it does not, and never has.

Yep, many people do this because shady companies love to "auto-renew".

Theia is the only one using that color in non OP posts, nor am I here to troll since it was a serious question. Or should I have started a new thread just to ask it? I think it is more appropriate to ask in existing one, specially when it is one conserning SV, so it is not entirely offtopic.

lol@ those people saying this is standard across the industry. We all know that isn't the case.

It is also not standard practice to tell a customer who has payed for 3 months to resubscribe after 1 month, like SV did and all the pro SV posters have failed to mention.

So whether the fault lay in a transaction company outside SV doesn't matter, SV's reaction was to tell the customer to pay again and they did not offer a refund. It seems it took over a week of harassing SV to get this even looked at, and we still don't know if he got his money back.
