Did anyone else find it disturbing that during the female character creation, the character's um... bosoms, kept heaving and she seemed to panting like crazy?
Meh~ I've grown immune to its effects from all the TERA footage I've seen.

Steparu is the worst lol, always wears the worst outfits and makes sure to show them lol. xD
Tera has been out for a year though in Korea. Saying it's okay for that game to be out for a year and have no raids is like saying it would be okay if SWTOR launched with no raids, and had no raids for a full year.
GW2 doesn't plan on implementing raids, so is that a problem? Doesn't seem like it for most people. Not to mention TERA does have raid like events now, you have monster invasions(rifts) that will open up and it will take twenty people to close the rifts, closing them earns you tokens you can use to buy cosmetics/armor.
Exactly. TERA and GW2 are being designed without the intention of having Traditional Raids and are focusing elsewhere. They both seem to be focusing on creating the most challenging, fun and varied 5-man Instances as their own form of PvE endgame. I say let them. We have enough Raiding MMORPGs as it is.
Funny how so many people come into new MMORPGs and always expect Raid content at level cap. Games like TERA and Guild Wars 2 will have a hard time converting such people, to their own forms of Endgame.

Edit: AWWWW YEAH the outtro is back.
The whole point is that many many people find grinding raids mind numbingly dull. Running the same raid over and over so you can upgrade your +1935 sword of innane vaccuousness to a +1972 sword of 'omg kill me now' so you can run the next raid over an over........etc. etc.
Its OK if the game never ever has a single raid provided it has something enjoyable to do. I kind of feel sorry for people that have not experienced some of the games that do not rely on a hamster wheel to provide their end game content.
I do not like the combat in TERA, the inability to cancel a move is ridiculous. No strategy involved there, just lame combat mechanices. The more I see of this game the less I like it.
Needs more strategy then your stagnant MMO

Still amazes me people need raids for endgame. Shows how stagnant MMO's have become.

Inability to cancel the move is what makes you think before spamming your buttons, if you hit a move that has a long attack and you get yourself stuck in a position that leaves you exposed to a monsters big attack well, good fight. Nevermind the fact if you're just spamming attacks you'll run out of mana in no time, you need to use your mouseclick attacks between your combo-chains to make sure your mana never dips too low because you need mana to dodge or block, getting stuck in a situation with no mana is never good.
Also you can initiate a dodge or block in most cases in the middle of certain attacks, not all of them but particular ones. When fighting the BAMs or elites you're usually being weary of what moves to use and watching the monster because if he shows a tell and right then you click a big move, like i've said, you're gonna' get hit hard.
If you could just run out of any move wouldn't that defeat the whole purpose of it being difficult true action combat. It would become far too easy.
I also felt a little upset when she said "despite all the monsters having complicated AI's it felt like the same thing, dodge this, dodge that"...
Yes because instead, standing still looking at your global cooldown timers is better and not reptitive...
Atleast you have to watch for monsters tells, and then react and then strike when the opportunity knocks or you'll end up dead more often than not.
Its always funny to hear that. I mean look at SWTOR. Its generic as possible with the same exactly mmo formula cut and dry in a way that makes it seem more generic then any other game ever launched. Its exactly the same thing over and over with very little thought process needed. To call the game repetetive seems so silly when your clinging to a game that is 'tab target this, do this rotation' with practically 0 elements added to further engagement in the game. Heck, ToR combat rotations are practically 'use this when off CD' and repeat. The only thing that made it 'engaging' to me in ToR was the animations... when they weren't being buggy at least.
Did anyone else find it disturbing that during the female character creation, the character's um... bosoms, kept heaving and she seemed to panting like crazy?
The Koreans do not and probably never will understand how breasts actually move. A female character just standing there will still have the breasts going, "Blub, blub, blub! Blub, blub, blub!" like she has water balloons mounted on her chest.
Realistic breast physics are the fifth pillar of MMOs.

I've watched live streaming of people with headsets raiding in WoW or TOR and I know what I hear and see when you look at caster bar.
You hear "taptaptaptaptaptaptaptaptaptaptaptaptap" on the keyboard and look at the skillbar to see skills on cooldown or global cooldown being hit a million times so that the second the cooldown in over, he'll hit it, it's just no thinking required.
I didn't find myself doing that once in TERA(except for the mouseclick attacks before I realized you could just hold it down lol), not only because it will kill your mana making you unable to dodge or block and expose you to big attacks when your animation locked, but because you watch your character and the monsters movements not a global cooldown, there isnt any. The time it takes your character to perform the move, is your cooldown, so you pay attention to that and when your character finished the movement then you click your next skill.
Did anyone else find it disturbing that during the female character creation, the character's um... bosoms, kept heaving and she seemed to panting like crazy?
Now I have a substantial reason to check this game out
There's an old old saying which goes like this ...
"Jokes are made by people who know how to .. and does who don't keep their mouth shut and listen"
same thing goes out to you "elite tab target" gaming people.
now let's all digest ...
It's obvious that MOST of you mmo people have no idea what Tera really is .. and just because Pokket had a chance to try it out for .. let me guess for about 6 - 7 hours doesnt means her arguments are valid.
Did anyone else find it disturbing that during the female character creation, the character's um... bosoms, kept heaving and she seemed to panting like crazy?
We, the living, call that sort of thing "breathing", Bill. ^_^

Definitely not disturbing. What's the word I'm looking for... intriguing? captivating? mesmerizing? entertaining? awesome? Maybe one of those works.
after watching the beta videos of tera im not really sold on it.. i like the customization but at the same time given the limited sliders you will still get doppogangers which kinda makes it less unique...
and the combat really doesnt look fluid at all.. too much like a button mash then any sort of action fighting..

I think the video was sped up and that's why it looked that way. It does bring up an idea though, why hasn't someone made a "Dead or Alive" MMO yet?
Honestly it looks like more of the same and there are always those who like the newest shiny thing out there. I regrettably purchased Rift on release and I would have to be a fool twice over to purchase Tera on release. Waiting on Guild Wars 2 and will be giving the FTP scene (specifically EQ when it goesFTP next month) a try until that is released. Tera just looks like another game that the MMO community could have done without.

The difference here is that TERA was a lot of fun to play. It doesn't feel like "more of the same" when you play it. So, regardless of what it looks like, the gameplay is fun.
They will have an open beta at the end of March or beginning of April, forget the exact date. Give it a try then, free of charge. You may like it.
Did anyone else find it disturbing that during the female character creation, the character's um... bosoms, kept heaving and she seemed to panting like crazy?
No.
Also, did she say there was no pvp in the game besides deuling? I hope she just meant in that beta, cause that's juts plain incorrect. No factions, and full pvp servers are the only reason I'm going to play... oh, and I do like the combat, lol, so I spose that too.
Is there open-world PvP in TERA?
There are world PvP servers in TERA; these PvP servers will also include battlegrounds that provide specific PvP rewards. There are also PvE servers that provide consensual PvP content, such as battlegrounds and duels.

I have a lvl 56 warrior Ktera and let me tell u that TERA is in NO WAY a "typical korean grindfest"
or "another korean mmo"
While yes the quests are wowish...kill xmobs deliver, npc quest to introduce new zone etc etc
The exp is VERY VERY HIGH AND GOOD...not like the others korean mmos wich u stuc kat killing kk mobs a day to get a lvl.
Tera has the BEST tanking system for any mmo to date, same for pvp
{mod edit}

(I was going to anyway, honest.)
Well it's a fantasy game. Why not have magic boobs ;p

Looks like the same old mmo stuff to me. Only way I'll be looking into this is with a free beta invite or a free trial
Button mashing will get you nowhere in this game.
I think the video was sped up and that's why it looked that way. It does bring up an idea though, why hasn't someone made a "Dead or Alive" MMO yet?
