That is the best way to start out Thomas, but be aware that PnP will probably be totally different than the feeling you would get on this new MMORPG...
I have been waiting for this release for more than a year, I am also a PnP player/DM I believe this game will have alot of the advantages for Party adventures as well as the solo adventure. The one thing that I like about DDO is the fact that there are party adventure as well as solo adventures. Meaning if you do not want to wait for your friends to log on or wait for a party there are side adventures for solo's.
I also like the thought that they are going by 3.5 rules for PnP D&D with only a few modification. You should really check out the webside and red some of the Dev forums www.ddo.com
Another cool thing about keeping the feeling of the game like playing a PnP is that there is no PvP. If anyone who has ever played D&D knows that the game is not a PvP game. Yes there will be those that do not like the decision that Turbine has made, but they want to keep it as close to the PnP System as possible.
Come on Formally TSR now Wizards of the Coast just celebrated there 30th Anniversary, so I believe they know all about Role-playing game. Also there would not be any of the other games out there if it were for D&D, so all the other MMORPH should be thankful for the Idea's that D&D put out there.
I have also read that they will soon be taking applications for beta testing. Which I will definitly be filling one of those bad boys out.
the only thing keeping my interest in this game is the real-time combat system. that could be very interesting.
imagine.... D+D online with my Microsoft sidewinder pad. lol. how cool
