all she did was link the two users together... She did not ruin his anonyminity. I am in favor of it. People hide behind other user names to harass people. That is not right.

No, just flat no... it's not, anonymity is more than my real life persona, it's my entire persona, if I don't want a user here to know who I am elsewhere and I keep that private, you have zero right to pass that information on in a public way. If you can't understand that I don't know what to tell you.

If you are HARASSING others, you lose that right IMO. Why should people be allowed to act like animals online when they aren't IRL? People need to own up to their actions.[mod edit]

What did he do that was "harrassing" of others? Was it him who followed Jenn around to another site to air her dirty laundry?

Just don't bother with RobertDinh, if you know what kind of bullsh*t this guy has been spewing in the past, you'd know he's just arguing for the sake of arguing.
And i bet he never had an account on GW2G aswell, considering what kind of silly excuses he came up with when you asked him for his username.
I don't know the guy or how his way of talking was on GW2G, but if he really was saying that GW2 would be released in 2012 and not in 2011 as most people thought and got ridiculed, flamed and modded for it, then I don't think it was bullshit that he was spewing, nor was his treatment just. The guy was right after all.
But even excluding him, I've seen enough odd and uncorrected mod behaviour on GW2G forums in the past to have it stick with me in my mind. Don't know how it is these days, but in the past there was some weird modding and mod talk going on sometimes.
edit: however, also don't agree with the treatment by some of JennGWG. The guy/girl is only striving to sort things out and gather info to be able to do that. Good initiatives like that should be encouraged, not scolded or discouraged.

Just my opinion, but I think it's better to have official forums.
The cost for maintenence and staff is higher, but I hope there will be a clearer set of rules, and the fans will know who is accountable. It might be easier to demand civil behavior from forum members too.
The most prominent GW fan forums have had a negative reputation for years. It's not a sudden and recent development.
I've heard a lot about the unwelcoming community and the nonprofessionalism of the moderating staff, read a thread here and there, so when I recently joined the GWGuru forums because of a specific topic, I did so with a lot of worries.
Posting private information of forum members anywhere is a no-no. Troll or no troll, it shouldn't have happened.
This right there has me really worried. Now I regret joining and giving my e-mail address.
JennGWG, I understand your frustration, and I doubt all mods are the same, but if you wanted to clear the name of the moderators on your site, I don't think that's the way to go. It has the contrary effect.
I was sympathetic toward fan sites because they might lose their status with this change, but I can't say I feel the same right now. :S
If you have any shred of integrity you will step down as a mod there, what you did was a major abuse of your power and you are not responsible enough to handle such power.
But you won't step down, because you don't understand the severity of what you did, nor do you want to give up wielding the power that you have.
Just wanted to stop buy and say this thread is hilarious. Keep it up we are all enjoying this. It is pretty obvious the GWGuru people do not understand why having a 3rd party with a financial incentive manage your official communication is clinically reatrded for a mmorpg company to do.
This would be like Blizzard letting mmo-champ handle every single communication. GwGuru is obviously biased towards the game and any criticism is handled swifty and without concern for the facts as proven by a lot of the post on that site. I would not expect less from a fan site, but when it comes to reporting technical issues or expecting dev feedback you are not equiped to handle it.
This is almost as good as Rubi Baher using massvely too make er Resume look better

I could agree, but to me she didn't seem to come into the discussion in a "hey let me help out" sort of way. More of a "im gonna call this guy out" way. In short she came into this discussion in defense of the site ( which is some what understandable), my bad reaction started with her wording, it was very passive aggressive, "is this just butthurt and QQ?" Not agood way to offer help IMO.

Yeah, but anet also has the benefit of being able to deny things. They can just say 'Guru is just a fansite, we hold no liability for the actions of the moderators there'. It's very smart and it saves time and money on their part - while they could be shelling out money to hired hands to run a forum, they just get fanatical 13-year-olds that want internet power to do it for them at no cost.
Let's face it - any company that makes their own official forums and hires their own moderators is going to be biased, too. Threads get deleted all the time on official forums. Ever been to Mortal Online's forums?
You realize that there are official support forums for exactly those issues right Pure?
Yes obviously they would have no incentive to make sure the game looks perfect and has no issues. They would do what mmo-champ does not when Blizz announces crappy news or another pet. They would list that news then like 7 or 8 unrelated articles and then create only one thread for everyone to chat in about it.
It is and has always been a curse tradition of runnin their sites like this. I guess it is ok for a fan site, but to use it as a official means to communicate to the devs it is assinine. Also these sites are a joke to hack, so gg having your entire playerbase have to register there to talk to a dev or report a issue.
Whoever thought there would not be official forums needs to get their head examined. GWGuru in no way shape of form has the resources to handle the type of attack that is planned after GW2 launches. If you are smart make you GWguru user name and password different from your GW2 one.

I still want to know what Dinh held halls with.
You will never know. He is the best because he says he is the best.

yea... I think I am about done here myself.. tired of being baited.
Official forums, cool, time to go to Costco and get a pallet of microwave popcorn.
Also, this thread has delivered: conspiracy, agenda driven members, google spying, flame war and trolling. Thank you, Internet, you're the best!

Yep. Who is at fault, the instigator or the reactor?
Just the fact that Chalky is there at GW2G keeps me away from those forums, hated that guy on Aion Source, and hate him on GW2G.
He is probably not even the worst one there, considering what i've witenessed in this thread

The thread has been cleaned up and we're giving it another shot if you guys stick to the topic at hand and do not continue the hijack about GW2Guru.
- It's not okay to give out other people's usernames or personal info for other sites. Nor to call people out in a way that baits them.
If the thread goes off the rails again though, it will likely be locked.
