I'm trying my first sand box mmo...i Was wondering which one of these will be the most fun..noob friendly.. I Know most of you will say eve online but im not really a fan of space ships.
MO-unstable crappy gameplay, limitations. Wurm- bad animations/graphics not the best, Great gameplay, very stable, nice size pop on each server, Very few to no limitations.
Same here, I'm looking to try a sandbox. I played EVE a few years back, Things look more noob friendly this time around.
I'm downloading MO as we speak, SO looking forward to starting the trial tomorrow. I know little about the game. Is crafting the only way to get items?

I would definitely say Wurm.
Eve's a bit harsh for new players and the gameplay isn't to everyones liking.
MO - this may actually scare you away from Sandbox MMO's. Sandbox MMO's aren't generally as bad as MO so it would suck if you based your impressions on a whole gaming section based on the worst it has to offer. This would be like trying chinese food for the first time and going to the resteraunt that the health inspector keeps closing down as your first try.
i Have both installed on my comp..just finished the wurm tutorial..gotta say the crafting on this is the most indepth ive ever seen. probably better then xsyon imo..but the lack of animation is a hugggggeeeeee killer to imresion lol..hopefully they implement that soon.
Have Mortal online,,,gonna activate my trial soon..any tips to start of motal online?
Animations and player model improvements are in the works, Wurms always improving, it really is something special. The tutorials actually the dullest part by far so you have a lot to look forward to! Id look to join a friendly village and get involved in some projects as soon as you can
I would try the free trials on all games. I know that MO has it, and I think EVE does as well. Dunno about Wurm though. But they prolly have it to. I´m playing MO myself and despite it´s bugs etc, it´s the most fun and immersive MMO I´ve played. But it sure ain´t for everyone. So go ahead and try the free trials. Make a tour.
I found WURM really difficult to start because of all the areas people had claimed as their own. No fun wandering for ages to find a plot of land and then get eatten by an aligator and start back at spawn haha. Id recomend EVE if you have the time and attention span to stick with a hard game. EVE has a huge learning curve and isnt for everyone.

I think you´ll start in Fabernum now in MO. There´s usually alot of people around there. So ask for help, and look around on the forums as well. The tutorials in MO ain´t that good at all to be honest. So it can be quite a cruel experience, if you don´t come prepared. But there are some nice videos out there that explains alot.

I played EVE for over 6 years, and it´s truely a unique experience if you give it time, and really get into it. But Once I got a kid, I couldn´t play it anymore, cause it requires ALOT from you. Ofc you could log in, do some missions, and log out. But when I played I was in this big alliance, and we were in low sec, and they required you to be there to help out if they got attacked etc. So once I had to spend more time with my family, I moved away from low sec. But still couldn´t invest the time that I wanted to really enjoy it like I did before. Some also find the combat dull, but I thought it was exciting. Cause you always have this dark cloud of loosing your ship etc in combat. I have the same feeling when fighting in MO. But MO is alot more buggy, and you gonna die alot. Be prepared for that...
Edit. Also, I would, as soon as possible move away from Fabernum in MO. And move to either Vadda, Batki, MK area if you wish to settle and explore some.
Out of the ones you listed I pick mortal as its the one I chose. All 3 have a steeper learning curve than say dark fall or xsyon, which are easier to get a handle on. But xsyon was only fun for a month or 2 while you craft or build your camp. Darkfall is my second choice(but a character wipe is probably coming). I didn't get into eve because you play a ship. And wurm I couldnt handle the graphics.
I tried Wurm the other day and it turned me off right off the bat....Usually I can play a game for a few days before I make a decision but I thought it was pretty awful from the get go....Everything from the movement to the graphics to the combat just felt terrible....Eve is too hardcore and sounds like too many idiots and MO gets too many bad reviews....Personally I'd jsut as soon hold out for a better game than any of these 3.
i personaly just had to watch some youtube clips fo Wurm to realize i just cannot play a game with that kind of graphics.
EvE is hands down the best space mmo to date, sadly i just can't get into the combat myself. too slow and static. i still have to hand it to CCP, they've made some incredibly smart choices with theit game.
Mortal Online is definately a game that sucked me in big time. i spent many, many months playing this game hoping it would eventually get fixed. i absolutely love the concept, feel and direction of the game, but eventually the game braking bugs just pissed me off big time. SV attitude and business practices didn't help either.
if you had to try one of the 3 i'd have to say EvE. it's by far the best and most solid game of the 3, but it's not for everyone. it's also a game that you have to commint time in order to get to the good stuff.
If you are looking for a month or two I would take a look at Xsyon. That is about how long I played it. MO is about the same. . good fun for a bit - several issues though. I like EVE a lot and it is likely the one I have played most. If you don't like Sci-Fi then it might not be for you.
Given the company's track record and product history I personally would never even consider giving the folks from Mortal Online my credit info. Also, MO is much closer to a persistent world FPS than a real sandbox. All the sandbox features are "coming later".. I mean, they are just now promising to patch in functioning AI in their "expansion". That's 2 years after launch.
EvE can be a great game, but it's quite complex and takes a large commitment in order to really experience it to it's fullest.
Cannot speak to Wurm, but I have heard good things about it.

has mortal online improved stability wise and bug wise?
My sub for MO ended a week and half ago, and I haven't played since mid-Feb, but even then they had to bring the servers down at least once a day because the NPC spawning was messed up. It was random too, seemed to always be around my primetime haha. I mean Eve does daily maint. but at least you know it's a certain time every day. I will say that the server was crashing a lot less however. Bugs....lol, you can't go two minutes without dealing with something not working exactly right. I still crash everytime I am looting something and a person walks right in front of you, or there is still the shield equip crash...I would say on the whole it's better than it was say a year ago, but it's not great.
And yeah stay away from Fab unless you have to go there. I would start in Meduli, lots of nice resources close by and somewhat less griefers (except the pickpockets, they are everywhere there, but you learn their names quickly ;p)
Wurm is nice, but I too find it hard to start out solo as a lot of the land has been claimed. It's a good game though overall, but I haven't played it a while so I won't say much.
I would recommend Eve. Eve is the most polished out of those three, has the largest playerbase (for a reason), and allows for plenty of playstyles. The tutorials are helpful (Wurm's is pretty good too from what I remember) and the help channel can be useful. I recommend joining the E-UNI public channel immediately and if you like the game enough to buy it, I recommend joining the UNI. Good people there and you will learn a lot about how to survive your first few months. The UNI also gives you free skillbooks and free frigates and cruisers (I think they still do this). Go Eve
I'm downloading MO as we speak, SO looking forward to starting the trial tomorrow. I know little about the game. Is crafting the only way to get items?
You can get many items from NPC vendors, but most Armor and all weapons as far as I know are crafted. You can buy some food, reagents, pickaxes, fishing poles etc from vendors. There are player owned NPC vendors people can put in front of their houses, but no one uses them much. When the next patch comes out it will supposedly have some kind of local auction house which IMO will be nice for crafters like me, who were never part of a big clan.
The good thing is you can usually find someone to make you something in town. Unforunately my sub ran out, but I would always give armor and a greatsword to genuine new players. If you are new just ask around in town, someone might be nice enough to give you some gear for cheap . Good luck.
has mortal online improved stability wise and bug wise?
It no longer crashes 6 times a day so I guess that's an improvement. Check the server status thread on their forums to see how stable it is atm.
Bug wise very little has improved. Prediction and combat are still rubbish, and fighting near buildings means players warping everywhere. It's pretty much just a PVP arena with some vague, buggy nods to the sandbox premise. It also has no PVE worth doing, as the game has no real AI, "epic mobs" will just stand there while you kill them from range for eg.
Of the other games, not played Wurm so would recommend EVE as it is far superior to MO in every way.
I found WURM really difficult to start because of all the areas people had claimed as their own. You'd be shocked. Eve is actually far from a hardcore mindset. It's a play how you want game. If somethings fun, keep doing it. There's always better ways to make ISK, but fun > ISK. Been playing for weeks now, having an absolute blast.
Don't be afraid about the timeframe that needs sinking. Your skills train based on time. You can log in monday morning, queue up your skills and come back later to actually play. It's not that bad at all.
If you only have 1-3 hours a day I would suggest you skip over Wurm. It is seriously slow. A solid game, but I just can't devote the time it takes to do anything in that game.
"I am not in a server with Gankers...THEY ARE IN A SERVER WITH ME!!!"
I would suggest Ultima Online, its got older graphics (I prefer the 2d client)...But I see too many negatives for your preferences in those games you listed, and time problems.
I am not a big fan of UOs new skill systems and such, but if you never played the old, you won't have the problem I had with it...With the time you can play, I think UO would fit you better....Just a suggestion if you don't mind the style.
