This is just my opinion, but if this is what the world of the mmo will look like((see the video)) I don't know if i want to invest my money in it. It seems like a HD remake of the Vampire the Masquerade Bloodlines gameworld. And i've played through that one plenty enough. It IS one of my favorite games of all time, but because of the story mostly, and not for the gameworld. running along 9 streets in the whole game over and over and over again on each playthrough will do that to you i guess. I hope they can bring out the MASSIVE feel of such a world. Good Luck to them, and i'll be keeping an eye on it

I don't know, I guess I am a minority, but I never bought into VtM. I understand why they decided to use it for the MMO - all the various clans may perfect classes. However, I never liked the social axis, and I think VtR does this much better. Besides, I think basing the whole metaplot on judeo-christian mythos is too limiting. I did like the gothic punk atmosphere, but I liked the setting only in the Dark Ages supplement. Anyways, I hope they use the good stuff from VtM, like Lancea Sanctum or the Circle of the Crone (not to mention Ordo Dracul or VII). After all, you'll have Crúac rituals, Theban Sorcery or Coils of the Dragon - it's definitely worth it.

Regarding Werefolf, I think the Forsaken is much better that the Apocalypse, both as a system and as a setting. In fact, it's probably the best series from nWoD, so it will be a pity if they go with Apocalypse, which has much less moral ambiguity than the Forsaken. Anyways, I guess we'll see what is going to happen, if we live long enough :)

If you have ever played the GTA series of games, they give a good feel of a large city.

    A few points...

CCP is using the Carbon engine, which has already been developed for use in EVE and Dust. There is a reason that many developers licence engines like Unreal, and that is because it is easier and faster to build a game with existing technology than starting from the ground up. Since CCP isn't starting from scratch, development time has already been significanly reduced and the final product will benefit from a mature, tested engine.

Once an MMO is released, particularly a AAA title, development does not stop. We're talking about games that launch with a 10+ year outline for future content. It's not a question of, "will there be werewolves, or hunters, or..." It is a question of when. Choosing to launch with less, more focused content (Vampires) within a robust world and engine is extremely smart and ultimately something players will benefit from. It would be a mistake to try and cram the entire WoD mythos in at launch because content would be shallower and less satisfying.

Staying quiet about content when content either doesn't exist or will be subject to extensive change and revision is also very smart. Fans have this annoying tendancy to take every peice of information as some kind of sacred promise to them. Allowing that to happen almost always backfires. We have all seen this before... There is nothing worse than a developer making promises that aren't kept.

If anything, the approach CCP is taking only increases my confidence that we will see the game sooner rather than later and that it will exceed expectations over the long run.

That's a good point, and yes, i have played a few GTA's. In the GTA series though, the world areas were all varied, and made me want to explore them. the teaser trailer there just makes it look like VTMB to me, in that while there was tiny differences between cities, but everything was pretty much the same as you'd seen in the last. Way to early to tell i suppose, so i'll wait and see, as heck, it could be years more until this one releases, and by then they could very well blow me away with the feeling of the world. I don't think it would be hard to make a GTA scale of world though, now that i think on it. We shall see ^_^

interested in? is this game even close to being in beta yet? There is ONE photo of the game on here...I dont think we are really worried about WHEN the game will be release but IF it will ever be released seeing as how its nothing more than vaporware right now. Talk about trying to drum up hype.

You can be interested in the ideas behind it and it is from a company with what is a steadily growing game to fund it so WHEN is more likely than IF, I agree it is far too far away to be excited by though.

It's not a dissapointing announcement at all. If there's something annoying it's the "fans" who scream early release for their chosen title in ecstasy, and when the game gets released unfinished, unpolished, they stomp it to the ground and scream in terror with tears in their eyes this time around. When it's done, is good!

Exactly, and anyway I want some time with ArcheAge first.

Getting Vampire done right will be a massive undertaking I imagine. I'd love for all the extra bits, but I feel it's totally reasonable to launch with playable Vampires at first. Hunters, Werewolves, Magi, etc would make for awesome expansions.

I'm most excited that they are going with VTM instead of VTR. From what I understand, VTM got kind of ridiculous over the year's since 2nd Edition, but I haven't honestly paid attention since then. I don't know if they're going to pull things all the way back there, but even if VTR isn't as out of whack as the latest VTM, I still prefer the VTM setting!

I'm wondering if they changed their stance on permadeath since the last time I heard about it. Couldn't you go into torpor the last time they mentioned permadeath?

I think Eve + DUST is all the game I'll ever need. But if they make WoD scary enough, and don't have missions or fighing like WoW, I might buy it.

I remember when vampires used to suck blood - not ****.

Moreover, I don't understand the desire for perma-death. I can't imagine spending so much time and being so careful on a character only to meet your demise due to network connection etc.

Another mark unable to google their recruitment process and waiting to be scammed.

So... what I gather from that video is this game is many a years away. After they reduced staff last year this was a given, but such a barebones preview now we know to what extent.

When you can interact with other people using WiS feature in EVE that'll but a very good sign, but for right now EVE FiS and DUST 514 are where the majority of manpower are going to I imagine. Once DUST launches I can still development on this picking up again.

I am very interested in this game.  After playing the old bloodlines game (which was amazing btw), I will be keeping a close eye on this one.

I already have blue standings with the swarm and didn't have to pay $10 for SA membership. While I'm sure some goons will try out WoD like they do literally everything that is released, I doubt that GSF directors are going to urge their membership to migrate enmass to a game that espouses everything that didn't like about Incarna.
