Quick question about the WvW area…

raykorraykor Member UncommonPosts: 326

I know that the WvW area is divided into four land masses.  Are these four sections separate zones that require a portal and loading screen or can you walk continuously from one to another?

Thanks.

Separate by portal and loading screen.

What can men do against such reckless hate?

    Does this answer your question?

I used to TL;DR, but then I took a bullet point to the footnote.

    Thanks.

It's exactly as you describe it. Four huge zones (they're the largest maps capable of being made in GW2 at this time) with Asura gates allowing you to travel from one to any of the three others. The gates are located in safe areas so you can never be gate-camped out of WvW and your server will always have a rallying point.

It's incredibly open feeling and freakin' awesome.

    Oderint, dum metuant.

They aren't carbon copies.  Each one has a distinct feel and look.  There was a video from Mike B recently where he said this in game.

    So what?

    Carbon copies, gates, ...

These are the facts that are completely unimportant!

If it really will be more or less balanced is the one and only question.

Advertising has us chasing cars and clothes, working jobs we hate so we can buy shit we don't need.

So they are carbon copied in the way the terrain and keeps are set up, but have a different visual style among the keeps and objects on the terrain?

Actually, I'd say that the 3 home world maps are absolutely the same. Arenanet wouldn't want players complaining about disadvantages and map disbalance. Or simply because they like a forest-y terrain more than the snow map they got for this particular turn of WvW.
